Retrofit USB-C by mirror
Skoda market it for this purpose, and reports online of people using it for dsahcams. Don't know, but in my case I would hope it turns off unless the port included some battery protection. I had a protection device in my last car to prevent draw below 12.4V (I think). Used to be the case that regularly overdrawing a battery could reduce it's life, and of course there's the potential to run it flat if dashcam left on and car not used for a while. I know people like to leave a dashcam running when parked, but I got mine for recording on road incidents.

Retrofit USB-C by mirror
Hmmm, OK, that sounds plausible. Thanks. Perhaps then one of the cost cuts of the BW38 changes was to eliminate the pre-wire (for options), although I would have been tempted to pay more for the USB-C socket, if it meant covering the cost of the wiring to the mirror. There's plenty of electrics up there though, seems odd that they can't tap into those. Anyway, I'll talk to the service centre when it goes in in March.

Retrofit USB-C by mirror
Thanks, that's why I find it so frustrating, I genuinely don't think there was a technical reason to not have it as an independent option.

Retrofit USB-C by mirror
I had ordered my SE-L with the USB-C by mirror option, but it got canned with the MY20 BW38 changes, and was thereafter only available with a driver aid package which I don't need and wasn't willing to stump up £1k+ for. Now this wasn't the only reason for buying the Kodiaq but it was an appealing feature since it meant I could run my dashcam without having to run cables or tap into power supplies, particularly whilst it was in warranty. The reason I was given for it being dropped as an independent option was that the wiring was only present if one of said driving aids was fitted (I believe a camera, don't recall). This seemed like a major design change for what appeared to be mostly spec shuffling in the BW38 changes, so I was always sceptical. The option can now be specified independently which makes me think it could have been added originally, but was not possible for marketing reasons. Does anyone have any insight into how this option is fitted, what is required, and is there any likelihood of it being retrofitted, or at least a competent third party implementing something similar? Thanks Simon

Wireless/inductive charging of iPhone 8 : Should it work?
MY20 user manual makes no mention of having to enable wireless charging, and I don't recall having to. Agree with other comments, positioning is key. Make sure the phone is fully flat on the surface, top of the phone away from you, base of the phone pulled back to the front of the phonebox as far as possible. Does your phone have a case? If so try removing it. USB A->C adapters pretty cheap on Amazon if you're desperate. I have these and they work fine - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XYTHCXV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Seat extenders / thigh supports
Anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with seat extenders? I have the electric driver's seat, and there's less support than in my previous car. I thought it would be ok, but am wondering if the lack of support is contributing to my knee problem. There are many available, but would prefer to get a recommendation if anyone has had success with one. Thanks.

Kodiaq Heated Rear Seats - How do I turn them on?
I had spec'ed items missing from my factory order. The spec you sign for is then transcribed into the factory order system, so open to error. Quote below from communication with Skoda "All orders are usually manually imputed by the sales admin staff at the retailer. This should reflect the order that the sales person has taken and discussed with the customer. The sales person, I believe should also check the order that has been placed correctly, as there is the opportunity for any amendments to be made, before the order is frozen for production by the factory. This is usually 2 weeks prior to build." Although in my case one item was originally ordered and someone at the dealership later removed it! Missing spec was not apparently picked up at PDI. Suffice to say very unhappy with the dealership and no intention of ever going back. The missed spec was subsequently supplied, sort of, and not a big enough of a problem to cause me to reject the car. If you're interested in finding out where things went wrong, I had a lot of help from Skoda Customer Services - [email protected] / [email protected].

Keys not working
Possibly the key you gave to the dealer has been repaired with the car? When I received my third key from the dealer (owed cos they cocked up the spec) I had to take all three keys in because pairing one unpairs all others, if not all done at the same time. AFAIK repairing is a dealer only operation.

User Accounts Set Up
If you're lucky to get one. I spent quite a while setting up the primary user and adding a second user due to very slow syncing, errors and having to restart. It does appear to be bug prone and performance poor. If you're willing to tempt fate I'd be interested in your experience of testing what happens if you lock the car with your key with your wife's profile loaded, and then come back 10 minutes later and unlock with your key. What profile is loaded? But I appreciate that if it ain't currently broke you'd be loathed to tinker.
-
User Accounts Set Up
Have you created a profile for yourself? Even if the key loses it's association with a particular user profile, you can select your profile after getting into the car and the seat position should move if you've adjusted it to your liking with your profile selected. Not ideal admittedly especially if the other profile's seat position makes it awkward to get in. I also find I can wait a good while for the profile option to even appear. The Personalisation option with MY21 cars is limited, and hence why the view seems to be that the renaming of the option by Skoda to just Third Key is their acceptance that the Personalisation feature (that used to include hard coding a key to a user) is mostly redundant. I also felt a bit cheated, since this seemed a particularly useful feature, and why I chose it. Same with the elimination of the high USB C connection and Traffic Sign Recognition as individual options unless you now choose the overpriced driver aid package which I have no interest in, and frankly from reports on here sounds potentially dangerous.

User Accounts Set Up
The User/Profile that is enabled/active when the car is locked after turning off the ignition. This is what I believe to be the case from my testing, and based upon the explanation in the handbook of how the seat memory works. I may be wrong, but you will find threads on here that discuss this, although mostly related to the Personalisation/Third Key option which it sounds like you didn't opt for.

User Accounts Set Up
I created my other half's account in-car IIRC. And whilst I agree that the user/profile management system is clunky, slow, prone to errors and failures, and is downright overcomplicated for my needs at least, it did work in the end without stealing anything. Search for other related threads on this though, since there's no way to hard link a key to a user any more so you might need to adjust your expectations. AFAIK it's all down to which key locked the car and what profile was active at the time, so requires staying on top of that for the key to continue to link to your personal settings (as opposed to choosing your profile and applying settings, including the seat, once in the car).

NAV on Virtual Cockpit
I chose one of the custom views (I forget which one) which puts the economy and range numbers in the dials. It does mean that gear and speed get moved to beneath the dials, but I have learnt to live with it and now find it quite acceptable. I have Nav permanently in the middle, so I can see what's coming ahead. UK models at least don't support third party Nav in the VC so it is always the Skoda Nav regardless of whether I am using Waze etc on the main screen.

Kodiaq Style MY21 (New Zealand) - no personalisation option?
If your wife doesn't lock the car, then not sure what will happen if you press the unlock key on your fob. If she has locked it, and you unlock the car with your key (fob or KESSY) then if the key was last associated with your User/profile then it should apply all your personalisation settings (including seat). As I 'asked' above, if more than one key is present, which does KESSY use... This is based on my testing, what I have read of other's experiences on here, and the user manual, but caveat emptor. My dealer was pretty clueless in this area (and others) and the MY21 manual still referred to a Personalisation menu option, which doesn't exist, so Skoda themselves were not all singing from the same hymn sheet. The fact that the option name has been changed from Personalisation with third key to just third key suggests they've caught up with the fact that hard set fob Personalisation no longer exists having moved to a clunky, confusing and buggy User/Cloud system.

Kodiaq Style MY21 (New Zealand) - no personalisation option?
AFAIK the 3 key option is literally now just a spare key, albeit good value, and has no bearing on personalisation. In answer to your question, as per my earlier post, my belief and understanding is that for this to work reliably you would need to ensure that the profile that is active each time the car is locked is the one associated to his/her key. it is a dynamic thing and there is no longer any way to permanently assign a key to a particular driver/User.
-
Kodiaq Style MY21 (New Zealand) - no personalisation option?
Whilst the 'Personalisation' feature is now just a third key, my understanding, and supported somewhat through testing is that some features including the selected User and thus seat position is associated with the last key that locked the car, so if you can manage to keep a separate key each this might overcome some of the issues. What I am not clear on is when more than one key is present, which is used to lock/unlock/start. EDIT: just to expand on this a little more, this assumes that you have created a User for each driver and made the various setting adjustments unique to that User with the appropriate User selected, and then locked the car. The car/key should then remember which User is 'associated' to that key. Definitely a weaker system than being able to hard code a key to a user though, which is what I thought I was paying for.

OK - I reckon I am in for another Kodiaq - Likely Sportline - but diesel again or a switch to petrol?
Having come from a 2.2L TD 4x4 (Freelander2) I find my 1.5TSI in most ways quite adequate, but it does have flat spots and I miss the extra grunt at times, often switching to Sport mode in anticipation. Where I am struggling is throttle control from a standing start, especially turning from a junction. I am finding it's often all or nothing, and regularly wheel spin after having applied too much throttle because I didn't feel like there was enough power. I suspect that it is a question of just adapting and learning, but I am wondering if I have been spoilt by 4x4 traction, and am now quite cautious about pulling out. Would I prefer the 2.0 TSI 4x4? I think yes, definitely, but was not prepared to pay the extra, and in what I call mid speed driving 40-60 the car is really a very pleasant drive, quiet and quite refined. and handles significantly better than the FL2. Definitely recommend a test drive. My dealer hired a 1.5TSI for me because they didn't have the right demonstrator and spent a whole morning on my own doing my most regular routes to see if I would be happy with it.
