Update Software
I've heard that it's possible to update the Navigation maps from the SKODA Update Portal, but is it possible to update the Amundsen software? Mine is version 0359.

Floor mats
I'm also after a drivers only carpet mat for mk3 VRS, are these available, or will I need the whole set? In fact, I can't find VRS mats anywhere, just the ones with 'Octavia' text on them.

mk3 5e Battery
Which battery do these cars come with as standard? I've only had my VRS 230 a week now, and was surprised to see a Yuasa 9000 in the engine bay: https://www.yuasa.co.uk/ybx9096.html Considering the car is only 4 years old, I'm equally surprised that the battery has needed replacing. I'm sure it would have come with a battery made for 'start-stop', as this one is, but possibly a Varta, or something similar? Is it common for the battery to be replaced within 4 years?

How To Stop Our car being stollen throught OBD2 port ?
I must agree with this, it's a great deterrent. I used one on my BMW for 6 years, and have now migrated it over to the VRS 230.

Playback from SD Card - MP3's first track missing from album
Thank you so much. The SD Card Formatter made my Anti Virus go crazy, but the Partition Master has worked. The SD card is not FAT32 and all files seem to be working. Thank you!

Performance Air Filters
Thanks for sharing your experience. I was thinking a panel filter would be good as no need to replace. Ultimately, I like to fit a cold air induction like this: https://www.racingline.com/vwr12g7r600 I've had induction kits on my cars before which, when coupled with an exhaust, made a huge difference. Have you actually mapped to 329bhp? Racingline? Have you considered any of their 'bolt-ons''

Performance Air Filters
I've always fitted a performance Air Filter (K&N) to all my cars, but now that I am an Octavia owner, is it really worth it on the VRS 230? Does it make any difference at all? (It did on my previous cars). Will it affect the MAF?

Impending vRS 230 purchase (pre-FL)!
Interesting discussion here. I've been using Shell V-Power for around 10 years, firstly in a Golf GTi, then a BMW 5 series and now in my VRS 230. I've never had any flat spots. In fact, I've put V-Power in other cars that normally run 95 RON petrol, and this has improved the running of their engines, eliminating flat spots.

Thanks, what program do you use please?

Playback from SD Card - MP3's first track missing from album
I can't format to FAT32, as Windows no longer supports this. The file names are all normal, so I just can't figure it out. I'm using a 64 Gb SD Card with around 200 MP3 files on it.

Playback from SD Card - MP3's first track missing from album
I'm having a very similar issue. I've only had my Octavia VRS a few days, and I bought a SD card, loaded it with MP3's, but the Amundsen doesn't pick everything up. When browsing, music files are missing. The card was formatted to exFAT, so I reformatted it to NFTS, and still having the same problem. I tried placing MP3s into folders, then I took them out of folders, but still missing some out for some reason. I'm really reaching the end of my tether with this. Also, some songs come up with pictures of the artists, how does that happen? I'm assuming it's Gracenote, but does that mean my system is connected to the internet? Thanks i advance for any advice.

Black Badging
They look gorgeous. I'd like to do the same, mine is also a VRS 230, but it's black, so I'd go for black. are Superskoda ok to order from, a search on this forum shows advice not to buy from them. Also, did you have any postage problems, not that we are out of the EU? Apparently, there are additional costs when buying from abroad? Thanks

Part number black emblems.
I'm also looking for the same. Where did you get the black VRS logo, and do you have the front/rear badges yet?

How to find out about recalls?
I've just purchased a 2016 Octavia VRS 230 which will be delivered tomorrow, are there any recalls that I should be aware of, or is it a case of calling up the nearest dealer and asking them? Thanks

Back to VAG
Since I passed my driving test at 17, the only cars I've ever owned have been from the VAG group (Type I, and various Golfs). Six years ago, having owned VW's for 15 years, I was seduced by BMW, and bought a 5 series. What a lovely car; gorgeous to look at, comfort, speed, you name it. However, every time something went wrong, I was having to spend around £1000 to repair. The parts are so expensive. After six years of ownership, I am coming back to VAG, with a 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS 230 arriving in a few days. Goodbye BMW, Hello Skoda. I'm really excited about coming back to VAG, and really looking forward to having some fun driving. I shall keep people updated..

Hello from Watford, UK
I've had a BMW 5 Series for 6 years, and am after something more dependable, and something cheaper to repair when things do go wrong (or inevitable wear and tear). The BMW is a lovely car, style, comfort and power; but is expensive to maintain. I'm now searching for a petrol Octavia vRS, which is a similar size to my BMW 5 Series, with hopefully a decent amount of power too. Congrats on securing your Octavia, would love to see some photos once you pick it up!

Welcome to the forum, I'm a newbie here myself; also looking for an Octavia. Have you decided on the spec you'd prefer? What have you driven previously?

Who or what is the biggest threat to SKODA?
Newbie here, and this is my first post. Some very interesting thoughts on here, my apologies in advance for not reading all 14 pages of comments. Interesting certainly for me, as I am coming across to SKODA from BMW. I've had a BMW 5 Series for 6 years, and am after something more dependable, and something cheaper to repair when things do go wrong (or wear and tear). The BMW is a lovely car, stye, comfort and power; but is very expensive to maintain. This may be possible for some people, but just not for me. I'm now searching for an Octavia VRS, which is a similar size to my BMW 5 Series, with hopefully a decent amount of power too. I've always owned cars from the VAG as long as I've been driving (almost 30 years), the BMW was my first venture out, now I'm hoping to return to VAG land.
