Excessive Consumption Oil Skoda Octavia 3 RS 2.0 TDI 184Hp, Engine Code Cup
Probably not. If the piston rings are the problem, it's most likely RPM related, not power related. Higher RPM => more piston 'trips' => more oil burned.

Full Size spare wheel?
Also having a full size gemini 18' spare. The floor is lifted by an inch or so.

VRS Purchase
My guess is that bad servicing and "misuse" leads to these issues. Doing long oil service intervals and lots of city driving is what kills the engine. My average consumption is around 7.5L/100km. Mixed highway and city driving at a 70/30 ratio I'd say.

VRS Purchase
Well, If you are planning to buy a diesel, be sure to check that the DPF is in running condition(can be easily checked with VCDS or VAG Dpf and an ELM bluetooth device, doing a 10-20 miles drive test and watching the values). Almost everyone I know that bought a used 184hp engine (being skoda, golf or seat), had some sort of problems with the DPF, myself included (had to professionally clean it). Oil consumption can be another issue, but that's harder to diagnose sadly. Noises can be all over the places. The vacuum pump is a know issue, the fuel pump can have a whining noise (someone replaced it and still makes the same noise). But, If you are lucky and have none of these problems, it's a great all rounder car.

Radiator noise when shutting engine down.
One way to check if the car is in "regen mode", without additional equipment, is to look into the infotainment system -> car -> start/stop system status. If the message "Engine must be running" is present, then the car is doing a regen.

Oil temperature and DPF
I know of the safety limit, but what I mean by that, is if it's going to regen, say for it example every 150 miles instead of 270 if the ash is at 50% .

Oil temperature and DPF
Are you watching the values live? Or taking 'snapshots'. I'm curious about the behavior of the soot mass measured. I have seen in mine that sometimes it is rising, then starts to go down as the engine gets warmer.
-
Oil temperature and DPF
Does stored ash mass value influence regens in any way?
-
Oil temperature and DPF
The value can be a bit higher if the idle is sitting at 1000rpm

Excessive Consumption Oil Skoda Octavia 3 RS 2.0 TDI 184Hp, Engine Code Cup
Changing the CCV diaphragm won't help much probably. I changed mine and it was in perfect condition. If there is anything wrong with the CCV system, the whole rocker cover should be changed.

Oil temperature and DPF
Soot mass measured says otherwise though 🤔
-
Oil temperature and DPF
Any way to trick the soot mass calculated? It's really anoying since it goes up at almost a constant rate and getting way more regens now in the winter, since i let the car sit with engine running while i defrost / clean snow.

Skoda Octavia VRS 2.0TDI (CUPA EA288) high oil consumption
If you made 1500km before the light came on, then it's certainly not 0.46l / 300 km . More like 1L / 1500km since high to low is about 1L in this engine.

Noise when engine cold 2.0 tdi
It's like a whining noise. That tone that changes at 2s ( changed revs ) I don't worry about it, since it doesn't seem to affect the engine / car in any way, I was just curious what's happening.

Noise when engine cold 2.0 tdi
Does anyone know what might be causing this sound? It only occurs when the engine is cold, and the outside temperature is cold (I'd say below 5 Celsius) VID_20220109_112350.mp4.15289e5d1f67f14c3c45604c952e3294.mp4

Is this a feature or some fault?
Definetely sounds like ECO mode, and the fog lights turning on and off, are the cornering lights function.
-
Fuel consumption
Considering it's running around 1lt / h, that would be at least 10hrs. I'm guessing damaging the engine is not a possibility.

Engine coolant specification
Is there any problem if G13 was used? If I'm not mistaken, G13 was used on my car after cambelt + water pump replacement at that start of this year.

What's your opinion on dpf cleaner additives?
Considering we talked about additives. Does anyone recommend oil additives?
-
What's your opinion on dpf cleaner additives?
Around 55g. The DPF was clogged, never being able to complete a regen.
-
What's your opinion on dpf cleaner additives?
My DPF was cleaned one year ago, so the ash level is pretty low(was set to a value of 5.5g since it wasn't a new part replacement, and now it's around 7g) , and the DPF is functioning normally ( I would say, e.g: Regens occur at around 250 miles, and around half of that if driving ONLY in the city ).
-
What's your opinion on dpf cleaner additives?
I'm always using premium fuel.
-
What's your opinion on dpf cleaner additives?
Since I'm doing way more city driving lately, I've been thinking of using a DPF cleaner additive, but I would like to hear some opinions before that. The reviews I've seen online are mostly positive though. What are your thoughts? ( engine's a 2.0 TDI cupa)

VAG DPF - what does a Red DPF and Egg Timer mean?
It's a 1.6 engine though. They should last more.
