  1. Thanks for the replies everyone, has put my mind at rest that all should be well once the new tyre is on the car again. Makes sense that it is disabled as yes the diameter difference between the two is huge. So glad the Superb has a full size spare wheel though my last two cars haven't and I would have been stuck if this didn't. Is the wheel size that is fitted to the car hardcoded somewhere if its the case that it knows when a smaller wheel is fitted? Just wondering as you can get the wheels for the Superb in all sorts of sizes from the factory.
  2. After getting what looked like a piece of WW2 shrapnel in a pretty much new pilot sport 4 s yesterday (they think its actually a wheel weight from a steely, it was bloody massive I know that) and rocking the space saver look since then I have had no ACC. Question is does the car know that this is not the correct wheel and disable it? The manual says to try to turn the engine off and try again, so this morning I stored the tyre pressures as it was still showing the warning from the flat yesterday and it briefly worked at slow speed but as soon as I was over ~30mph it threw the error again saying that it wasn't available. My commute is mainly motorway which was fun on the space saver and halfway through that it threw another error in the tyre pressure monitoring system so I am not sure what that is about, my hope is again that it fixes itself when the proper wheel is back on. My main concern is the ACC as I use it all the time, if having the proper wheel back on there doesn't fix it does anyone have any other ideas? They're getting a new 4S in this morning so hopefully by the end of today it should feel better to drive at least.
  3. This is why my wife likes it too...I can drop her out the front of the shop, go and park and she can see it as soon as she walks out!
  4. I had one for my old car that was mapped with a Revo map and loved having it. Was really quick to plug in and code the ECU, literally took a minute. Was useful for me as the car was mapped with loads of mods, so if I was going on a long motorway run I would just put the standard map on it (save some fuel) and when I was out for a proper drive would put the Revo map back on and have some fun. It also had an anti-theft mode that would let the engine start but that was it, the car was undriveable with that mode on, handy if it was being left for a while. There was also a valet/garage mode that would limit the revs to 2k or something to stop it getting abused if left with someone else, tried to drive with that map on it but it was a petrol with a huge turbo so didnt go anywhere!
  5. I stand corrected, that is actually quite impressive. I have never been able to get it to work in my car, it always seemed to put my phone into meltdown, may have to give it another go now!
  6. I am not sure if MirrorLink will let you watch videos, my guess is no, but if you want to try it you will need an android phone as it is not supported on iPhone
  7. Mine came with budget's all round from the supplying dealer (RoadX, worrying there is almost zero information about them online) and a couple of months in I changed them to PS4S and the difference is just staggering, it feels so much better under braking and around corners that I don't know how I managed before. Mine is the 190 TDI so traction is rarely a problem but the overall feeling of the car has been improved massively.
  8. ...and you can barely do 70 these days on any of the motorways here because once lockdown ends its going to be a mess on them again, that doesnt stop people modifying their cars here either. There needs to be zero justification from the OP as to why they have had extra work done to their car and what is being implied is just wrong imo. Enjoy the car and the new map I say!
  9. Went from manual to DSG and will never go back I dont think (not on a car like the Superb anyway, on fun stuff there is definitely still a place for manual), it just makes things so effortless and easy. Have the 6 speed on mine and there were some times when it would take a bit of getting used to but now I am used to it am not sure how I would feel without it on the daily. DSG+ACC is possibly the greatest invention ever if most of your driving is on the motorway
  10. Find it crazy annoying that when you make a call you can't move from that call on the maxidot, the other info on there is way more important then knowing how long I've been on the call for...
  11. Be careful with getting the glowplug changed at a Skoda dealer. One went on my old Leon and took it to Seat (also a Skoda dealership and workshop) and they butchered getting them out snapping the heads on most of them then just fobbing me off and telling me that they couldn't get them out. Had to take it somewhere else and they needed to get someone in to drill the things out, something that should have cost a couple of hundred quid ended up costing me about 800 because Seat weren't willing to admit they had no experience with the issue.
  12. Trying a different socket is such a good shout, would have had no idea that the other USB ports would be connected to the headunit, would have assumed they were just for power
  13. It might be the mapping I guess that makes it feel quicker then the 184 cars, either way though it either is or definitely feels quicker at least. Had a run to work on the new tyres this morning and they have changed totally how the car feels, the front feels much more planted and heavier but in a very reassuring way. Much more confidence on the turn in too. But I guess that's what you get going to Michelin from 'RoadX' tyres!
  14. Haven't had a chance to use the tyres properly yet, garage is a 2 minute drive away but will get a nice run to work tomorrow to start bedding them in at least. Went for the PS4S in the end, will probs go to the normal Ps4 when these are done but just needed to see what these are like at first. Mine is the 190 TDI, spends majority of its life on the motorway so is the one for me. Had the same engine in a Leon before, feels miles quicker in the superb though but think that's just because of the DSG.
  15. After a few months with the Superb have to say I'm convinced its the best all rounder you can buy... It swallows all the stuff you could ever need (bought it because we have a newborn and needed the space and it more then covers this off), on my daily commute on my own it hums along the motorway wonderfully and the ACC and DSG just make it so easy. Then the other day when the motorway was a mess I had to come the 'back way' which is about 25 miles of twisty B roads, have to say I wasn't especially looking forward to it, thought it was going to be too big and I wouldn't be able to make my usual progress, but it just ate that up too and was more then capable round the corners and the odd overtake for the slow moving tractors... Annoyingly the supplying dealer fit a set of budget tyres on it which annoyed me (it had done less then 10k when I got it so theres another car out there somewhere with the tyres from mine which are no doubt still in pretty good nick) but its going today to get some PS4's on it which I just think will make it even better...
  16. Am sure I have heard somewhere that the interval is actually longer in other countries by quite some distance, so it seems the belts are capable of lasting longer they just put the fear in us in the hope we cave and get them changed!
  17. Same for me, I know mine are working but the other day in the morning they worked once before it froze in the pipe and was trickling out.
  18. Can confrim having mine a few days now there is plenty of room in the car for a rear facing baby seat. It's so big in fact that my wife who is 6 foot tall can either sit in the front seat with the baby seat behind or behind me to be with the baby and still have room (I'm 6"3)
  19. Had my car a day and it started doing this (MY2017 but only 10k on the clock). Got the car through Arnold Clark and as there is no service garage of theirs around me have told me to take it to my local skoda dealer and they will foot the bill. Hopefully Skoda manage to sort it tomorrow. Am having to push the whole steering column up at the moment to get the thing to start and switch off!
  20. Swings and roundabouts I guess, that's the issue when these groups get too big there are always going to be some bad ones. As mentioned this other garage who are part of Arnold Clark have so far been faultless, returned my calls and done everything they said they would. My only concern is how long it takes for the car to get to me as they obviously wait for a transporter full of cars before they send them down and at the moment I am not sure when that will be... There is actually a lovely black one for sale at Marshall Croydon but I have fallen in love with Dragon Green and once bitten did cross my mind when I was thinking of getting in touch with them about it
  21. My thoughts exactly, a quick search threw up what appear to be much better cars. It clearly hasn't been looked after I would expect a car much older then that to be in that state. Sorry yes Marshall, safe to say I wont be going anywhere near them again. The sales guy sent me a video of the car before I went there and briefly mentioned 'a few small marks on the wheels', not the fact that the thing was mangled and that it was all of them. There was also a little ding on the boot he mentioned so I thought he was being 100% honest about it so decided to give it a viewing, no mention of the scratches all over it or the wing mirror ding. I would never expect a used car to be perfect but this was so far on the other end of the scale it was almost insulting, and stuff that wouldnt be difficult to get sorted. They had reduced the price and now I think I know why...
  22. Quick update on this as threads that get left hanging I know can be annoying... Went to see that car above at Skoda Reading and well...it was battered. All the wheels were kerbed, one of the wing mirrors had a decent sized scuff on it, dings and dents all over the bodywork (some through to the undercoat), scuff plates on the sills were well, scuffed but to the point the writing had worn off, mismatched tyres (on the same axle) which is a big no no from me, especially when one is a no name brand. Not sure how a main dealer thought it was OK to present a car like that. I think the new car excitement got the better of me as I agreed with them that if they fixed the most damaged wheel and the wing mirror scuff I would do the deal. Woke up the next morning and instant regret, something just felt off about that car in particular. However, the superb as a car is just lovely, the thing feels like a limo and the space is just a dream compared to what I am coming from now. Comfortable and has everything I need. Found another one from Arnold Clark, another 17 plate sportline but DSG and Dragon Green and the auto boot and front parking sensors. Haven't seen the car yet as it is at the other end of the country from me but they are sending it down nearer me hopefully in the next week or so. Excited is an understatement right now...
  23. Thanks for the replies guys. Have just checked your cars out in the classifieds, the part ex price from the dealer has taken a lot of headache out of my decision though. Will check on the suspension when I take the car out for a drive. Think the price of the superb is quite good too, they have it on for £14890, 17 plate sportline with 23k miles on it. Its manual though I think I can live with that.
  24. Hi all, New to the forum as I am looking to purchase a superb imminently. New baby and my current Seat Leon does not cut it space wise for the three of us (the wife and I are both 6 foot plus so once the baby seat is in there is just no room and the boot is full with just the buggy). I have seen a 2017 2.0TDI sportline for what seems like a great price and low mileage for a diesel of that age so am looking to go and see that, however was just wondering if there is anything to look out for? Car doesnt seem to have many options fitted but from what I have seen there is not much in standard trim it is wanting for. To be honest as long as it has Android Auto, auto lights and wipers I would be happy (ACC will be a nice addition as my commute is mainly motorway). Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks
