Superb MKIII owners register
I'm pleased to say I am now dent free, you would never know the above had ever been there. Must say I was sceptical, but I am very impressed. It now looks like I am driving a car I have owned from new for 4 days and not something that looks like I picked up from a scrapyard!

Superb MKIII owners register
I'll not go bad mouthing anyone, but I think the dealer name is visible if you zoom in on the registration plate hahaha! I found a scrunched-up silver chewing gum wrapper in the door last night, so the 'care' from door to door is unlikely to get 10/10 if anyone surveys me! Nevermind though, dent repair man booked for Friday, so fingers crossed that will be the end of that little item from the 'snag' list (which only comprises that item!).

Superb MKIII owners register
Couple of photos, the good and the bad! The bad being a photo of the dents above/left of the K and above the A. Just waiting on a Dent Devil quote (dealership is paying) and hopefully within a few days they'll be nought but a memory. The good...I love the silver. Needs a clean as it is covered in road muck from being up high on the transporter, but looks brill otherwise. I'd had a hire Superb for a month while my now rejected Octavia MK4 was (not) being looked at, so can't really give many first impressions as I thought they were a fantastic car already and just that bit of class above the Octy. That was a manual though and this is a DSG and I have to say the gearbox is fantastic. I had an automatic eons ago but this is like night and day in comparison and it wees all over a manual in my opinion. The one strong positive opinion I will give, which will contradict some people, is that there is nothing wrong with the engine stop/start. Mine certainly does not cut out before you have come to a halt, and for me the time it takes for the engine to restart and pull away is frankly no different to the time it takes to release the clutch in a manual and pull away. I had major reservations having read all the moans about it on the forum, but I seriously don't know what people are talking about. I have experienced zero 'performance' or time loss at any junctions or roundabouts. Anyway, it really is a brilliant car, and will be even more brilliant when the two annoying dents disappear!!

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
I'm sorry it's over for you but glad at the same time, owning the MK4 was the most stressful months of car ownership I ever had. It isn't worth the sleepless nights and worry over a stupid lump of metal that doesn't work. The relationship with my dealership was totally soured by my experience too. I understand they too were frustrated that they had been sold a bunch of lemons to try and sell on to the consumer, and then had apparently five (at that time) rejects to deal with. But that is neither the consumer's fault nor problem, and I was saddened by how quickly and easily the dealership passed the buck and said it was all up to Skoda to sort out. I also will never return to where I bought my MK4.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaawh took delivery of mine today (at home, delivered from many miles away) and within 30 seconds of doing my walk-around I spotted two little dents on the boot above the 'Skoda' writing. So what joy, I'm already looking at a visit to Skoda to have that sorted!

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Not only that, but you also have dealerships still selling cars they know have issues. 'My' dealership currently has my SE First Edition sitting out back gathering dust awaiting an elusive software silver-bullet fix, meanwhile on their website they are still advertising SE First Edition's for sale...

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
One of my issues wasn't specifically "aircon" but related to the heating controls in general, in that sometimes the onscreen icons to operate any of the heating simply were not on the screen. As with most of the errors, a full engine restart would usually cure this, but I had this issue at least three times after I had already set off and none of the times was I on a road suitable for stopping. This was part of a wider issue however, of various onscreen icons or menus not being present sometimes. Add to that the multitude of other errors and emergency braking the car used to do for no reason, all of which meant I was not tolerating owning the car any further. If you read the KPH/MPH thread that is where you will find most of the issues people have had. Bear in mind if you buy a MK4 you will be rolling the dice, make no bones about it. It is as simple as that, otherwise none of these threads would continue to exist. Some people have bought MK4's and reported here that they've not had issues, some have had issues but software updates appear to have fixed them, some have had issues and software updates have been totally ineffective. It would appear that various hardware and software build dates and compatibility issues likely play a factor in the success or lack of for updates. If the combinations were established, it could assist people in their purchase, but to date nobody on the forum has managed to establish exactly which combinations do or do not work. For what it's worth, I rejected mine in March and as of yesterday when I walked past the dealership for the first time since I rejected my car, it is still sat in their compound out the back. So they clearly haven't been able to fix the issues yet.

Grinding into third (manual)
I put 4000 miles on my MK4 before rejecting it and my 3rd used to be what I would call 'reluctant' rather than grinding or crunching. Only until I had driven for 5 mins though and (especially with the real problems I had) never a big enough issue where I'd have sought any work on it. It used to crunch into reverse a lot though, even if I'd been on the road 2hrs it could crunch loudly into reverse to the point pedestrians would turn and look at my car.

KPH/MPH
My worst instance was the car slamming the brakes on when I was on a clear road, no cars in front or to either side, no form of obstacles of any kind that the car could have misinterpreted, all while filling half the virtual-dash with some red warning of an imminent collision that was never going to happen. I have never been as furious with any car I have owned as I was in that instant. It was that evening I emailed to reject the car. This was at low speed, it doesn't bear thinking about at 70mph on the motorway without warning, maybe at a time you've taken a hand off the wheel, or it's raining or something.

Superb MKIII owners register
After what seems like a long wait, mine will finally be delivered on Monday coming. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah! 1.5 SE L DSG Brilliant Silver. Options: Rear view parking camera Heated washer nozzles Rear window wiper Heated windscreen I don't know if this fits with what @oh2jiuhas said (although I am in England) but I have bought mine through my employer's corporate discount scheme, which appears to use only a limited number of dealers in the country. My Superb was the only one available that was already built (only one available within the scheme that is) and it already came with the above options selected, I have not chosen them myself. I've therefore had the impression that either someone or a company had ordered the vehicle and added the options but then changed their minds and lost their deposit, or with the Superb being mostly a company car I did think perhaps some dealerships pre-order one or two cars with a few options fitted as they are likely to sell without issue. I was advised that if I placed my own order I would be receiving the car in September. No thanks! Like a lot of people, I am moving over to an 'automatic' after a long time of driving manuals, although I did own an automatic 18 years ago. There are pluses and minuses to both, I'll be honest from the outset and say I am only moving to a DSG as I want the car now. I'm happy driving either though, I always enjoyed my old automatic. I'm not new here, as I sadly had a depressing experience with an Octavia MK4, which I imagine for the regulars who scout around the forum I don't need to explain what issues that car has. I got rid of that back at the start of May and have been waiting for the Superb since then. And yes I know I am cheating, as I am not supposed to declare my vehicle in this thread until it is in my possession, but it is arriving on Monday and I am excited beyond belief, so let's hear it for 'la passione' and let me declare myself today !! I'll chuck up a photo or two in good time as well.

KPH/MPH
As @sneal said, outcomes have varied. At least one member had paid for their car outright, and rejected it, and was hit with a deduction from their refund for mileage. I rejected mine on a PCP deal (through Skoda/VW Finance) and they refunded every penny I had paid for the car, despite me having done over 4k in it. Whether the difference was in how the cars were financed, or was it just different dealers being less/more reasonable then the other, I have no idea. You could always reject the car and see what 'offer' they come back to you with. If they want to deduct for wear and tear, then you can make a decision on affordability as you will want a new car. You can always decline their offer and keep the car if it isn't high enough. EDIT: Just to say, when I rejected mine I outlined what I expected from the dealer, namely the refund of my deposit, refund of the upfront services I had paid for, and refund of every payment I had made for the car. They honoured everything I requested. My biggest piece of advice if you wish to reject is reject straight to the dealer in writing, and (if using a finance company) copy them into your email/letter so they are aware. Your contract is with the dealer (as Skoda told me firmly at one stage) so go through them. I personally would not recommend you even bother contacting Skoda UK. The contact point at Skoda (Kate Laws) promised me the world in her first phone call to me, then broke all of her promises by failing to call me at the times she had agreed, and pretending she was on another call every single time I tried to call to speak to her. Just this week on the forum we are seeing her latest piece of PR fluff is turning out to be false. She said people would be receiving their fix via software updates this week and either the updates have not happened or have not worked anyway. In the interests of fairness, there are others on the forum who will have their reasons for advising you keep the car, but the above is reflective of my own experience.

Possible to completely disable (permanently) Kessy / Keyless entry?
There are lots of reasons folk may wish to disable certain features on a vehicle, I don't really think it is productive to simply say don't order one that has feature X if you don't want it. I have a Superb on order that features keyless entry as a standard feature on the car, and I too want the option of doing a permanent disable at times. Me and the missus go camping a lot, and our security solution for the eternal 'Where to store the car keys?' question (all other valuables stay locked in the car overnight) is that there is a particular part of the tent where we can hang the keys so they are not possible to get to without entering the tent itself or climbing right on top of it (It's a large tent and that would be impossible without falling into/collapsing the entire thing). This is a serious thing, as I have been on campsites where a stanley knife has been used to silently slice open a little gap in the side of a tent to gain access to valuables. So, in this scenario my keys could potentially be moving when we are turning in sleep, if it is a windy night etc. The car is usually literally almost right against the tent, so it is reasonable to assume that keyless entry will very likely work due to the close proximity. I personally will want the reassurance of disabling the system altogether while I am away on holiday. I don't want to muck around checking I have temporarily disabled the feature every single time I come and go from the car for something, come and go for my evening shower, come and go to put something back in the car before bed, come and go to do that before bedding down for the night, etc etc etc. Far far far easier, stress free, and risk-free to simply disable the feature permanently for the times I do not wish it to be active.

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
I mentioned back in this thread (I think....or one of the other ones....) that my dealership did basically zilch in going through my long list of problems one by one. They also kept saying total BS to me that they had not been able to replicate any of the errors. I still rejected the car. So I say go for it, get it rejected if you don't want it. People reject cars for less than the issues we've all had. It seems unlikely you'll be challenged, and if your are then simply state that the errors are happening when you are driving it, it's not your problem if they don't happen when they are testing it. I wouldn't give two hoots over the dealership I used believing me or not, given that they were lying to me for months.

Aussie RS owner with software problems
A longshot possibly, but you hadn't muted the radio while using Google Maps? Even if in error possibly, while using the steering. I picked this up in a previous car, but it also worked in my Octavia, if using Google Maps to navigate, as long as the Google voice isn't talking to you at the time it is possible to mute the radio and it will still allow Google to speak directions to you. As I say...a longshot, but with me being a total divvy there were a few times where I've thought to myself why the F won't the radio make a sound, before realising I'd previously muted it on that trip.

3rd Software Update done! Fixed
All three times my MK4 was in before I rejected it, I received the same email. And gave the same negative responses to all.

Delivery tyre pressures
Good tip. I once had an MOT done by Hi-Q on a different car, tyre pressures were supposed to be around 28psi I believe, and when I went to pick the car up the fella said he had put them all up to 35 psi as "......it's a nice middle ground"

Aussie RS owner with software problems
What music player are you using? I had this issue with Rocket Player and cured it by enabling 'Third Party Control' in its settings, which allows other apps to take control of the player. The other app in this instance would be Android Auto, trying to give Rocket Player a command. Other music players will work on the same principle, so could be something in your music player settings you can adjust. I think mine had previously been enabled, but had become disabled after a Rocket Player update.

Just taken delivery...and then found this forum
Including myself, you're definitely at least the third person on the forum to report no CC after getting the car back from their dealer. Mine claimed that they had to reset the ECU to get it to work again. Whatever the truth of it is, something with the CC has the potential to go wrong during software updates, so folks check your CC the second you pull off the forecourt !!

Skoda Connect Missing
From my experience with my MK4, once you have set your vehicle up and added it to the app using its VIN, then you control the whole lot through the app - which I believe is the whole point of it. The app has functions like showing where it is parked, if it is locked, windows closed, the ability to sound the horn (to help you find the car), shows if it has been driven away from the zone you set (i.e. stolen), on some models you can tell it to start the aircon before you get in it, send directions to it for the satnav etc. The app is used to monitor and control the vehicle, thus there's no reason for there to be a menu of any kind in the car.

Just taken delivery...and then found this forum
Well matey, put it this way... The first two times mine went back for inspection and software updates they claimed that they could not replicate any (that is ANY) of the issues I had been experiencing. Having seen via the mySkoda app how few times the car was ever even switched on while in their possession, I am inclined to believe that on a technicality...that they basically never checked it long enough to be able to replicate anything. Then when it went back for the third time (before I had it rejected) they were still labouring under the impression they were going to fix this for me, but still at no point did they ever say to me they had replicated anything, and on the third visit the car wasn't even started once after they had moved it away from the customer parking area I had dumped it in. So I would say go ahead and reject if you still want to reject. The dealer, at best/worst, can only say they have been unable to replicate the faults you are describing, at which point you simply ask if they are calling you a liar. Honestly, when I first complained about mine, and when I subsequently rejected it, I put in writing a list as long as my arm of issues I had experienced, and they made no attempt whatsoever to systematically go through the list and check them.

I am honestly in agreement with that, so long as I'm not going to end up with a letter from some lawyer landing on my doormat!

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
Interesting....I got a cheque from DVLA within about two weeks of receiving my full refund when I rejected the car....which will have been at least several weeks after you completed your rejection. The funny part is I'd already had a full refund, which included the first year's vehicle tax, so why DVLA then sent me a cheque as well I have no idea. It's spent already though, in case anyone tried asking for it back !!!

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
Delve deep into this forum, buddy. It's all here, tons of it. I have asked more than once on the forum as to whether it has been established that there is a particular combination (i.e. model variant, engine size, radio type, software version, other factors) that can guarantee no problems (and I mean NO problems, not the odd niggle) and nobody has answered that question. On the basis of that, as well as my own experience, I can only strongly advise you to buy a different car.

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
Question for anyone who, like me, has completed their rejection, and who may still be hanging around here for some reason: Has anyone seen their rejected car going up for sale again? I ask out of pure curiosity, I'm certainly not about to embark on some crusade that will see me stood next to my car on the used-car forecourt with a t-shirt saying "DO NOT BUy THIS CAR!". It is a month since my rejection completed, and fair enough it took a little while for the finance to clear with VWFS. That is done and VWFS have already declared that their financial interest in the vehicle has been removed. So, I had expected the car to be at least up on the local dealership's website easily by now, yet it is neither on the local website, nor the dealership's national website. I just double-checked and the car has not been taxed, so it is certainly unsold. I don't for a moment imagine Skoda UK have taken the car and refunded the dealership, and having a pal who has been selling cars elsewhere almost 20 years, I also am not entertaining any notion that the car is just sat doing absolutely nothing at the dealership, either because they are nervous about selling it and/or are awaiting the magic-bullet software update from Skoda. I know what a 'churn' it is at dealerships and there is a bottom line to protect, and dealerships work on the basis of particular spaces in a forecourt having a daily/weekly £ value attached to it. So, for instance, if used car is situated at the very front of a forecourt at a certain price, they will only let it sit in that space for X days/weeks at that price before the vehicle is either moved further back from the front of the forecourt and/or they put its price down. They don't just sit there though. So...I'm wondering what has happened to mine. Despite (or because of) what I have said above, I am actually wondering if they have put it into auction just to see the back of it, and it is up for sale somewhere else in the country right now. I'm just a bit perplexed that the most corrupt sales-industry that exists does not appear to have (yet) sold on my massively faulty car to some other poor mug.

Octavia IV Lane assist How to turn it off
Honestly it's amazing how quickly your muscle-memory has you pressing the start button and flicking the lane-assist off 0.5 seconds later before you have even realised you are doing it.
