KPH/MPH
I'm not offended, it's fine. I wish I still had the Octavia. It was ideal for me, I wouldn't have had sleepless nights and months of stress and I was certainly paying less for it as well. I wish mine had been sorted out and I genuinely and sincerely hope everyone does get sorted eventually. I can only be honest though, and based on not one forumer has returned to say their car is 100% cured, and my 9 month old car is sat rotting away in a locked compound, if anyone asks if we think it is worth the risk buying a MK4 I'd rather give my experience and opinion to save someone else going through what I did. I also think forums telling people not to buy a car can only add pressure on Skoda to sort out the dodgy cars they have already sold. Edit for a p.s... If I didn't still have a Skoda I definitely wouldn't be hanging around here!!

KPH/MPH
I own a Superb now and frequent the Superb forum. I got a lot of help and useful info on the Octavia forum when I had mine. I don't find it problematic to look in on here and chip in to help people on the Octy forum, if you look you'll find plenty by me just this week trying to help people. Part of that may involve urging people not to buy one, having experienced the worst car I have ever owned in the Octavia MK4. To repay my debt and help people is why I am here I guess.

KPH/MPH
9 months to the day since I had got mine, almost four months since I rejected it and it is still sitting at the back of the dealership untouched. This is why I urge people over and again not to buy one, irrespective of the few 'positive' stories posted on here (which usually include the phrase "...but I can live with it", relating to a perceived minor issue).

What to expect from heated mirrors
I'll second that, I use mine for rain, which takes just a couple of mins for a soaked mirror to be dry.

Data Transfer Setting
Now you need to figure out and advise how not to get the message!

Do all Mk4's have keyless entry?
My MK4 was an SE First Edition and did not have Kessy.

Data Transfer Setting
Are you sure you're definitely sharing it? The message has to appear to comply with data protection laws if you are.

Spare wheel brace/clamp.
Awesome. Thanks so much, I'll get me one of those.

Spare wheel brace/clamp.
Two months into owning the Superb, I finally dug my space saver out of the loft today. (My rejected MK4 Octavia came with a full size spare, the more expensive Superb came with no spare...). Anyway, this is about my 25th car and I have never ever seen a clamp/bolt fitting in the wheel well, as in the photo I've attached, on any other car. I know my engineering head will be able to cobble together my own DIY solution using bits and bobs from B&Q, but I'd rather have a neater/proper solution. So, has anyone ever seen a clamp that fits this? Anybody using one?

Data Transfer Setting
This question comes up a lot it seems! Sharing your location means you get that message when you fire up, it's a GDPR regulation in case another driver or any passengers do not want to share that information. The plus point is if you are in a severe accident the SOS features will kick in and use that location to save your life, hopefully. Switching it off means you may no longer receive the message on fire up, but does mean if you find yourself unconscious and upside down in a field in the dark and rain and nobody seen it happen and nobody is aware you are in said field, nobody is being dispatched to help you, because you turned off data sharing due to an annoying message!

Two annoying things about S3, lights indicator and footwell lights
The odd part to me is someone's car putting the headlights on in bright sunlight! Surely we can't be driving round in the sunlight checking our auto-headlights aren't switched on?! The whole auto-headlight is a safety feature more than a convenience, as I say different strokes etc so I can't speak for you or others, but in the dark or tunnels etc I can clearly see the lights are on, I can't think it could ever be safer for me to be looking to make sure they are not on when they shouldn't be.

Two annoying things about S3, lights indicator and footwell lights
Different strokes etc but I don't find looking down at the switch dangerous at all, as I never look down! This is my third car with auto-headlights and lights that automatically come on in the rain, and I now haven't switched my headlights on manually in four years. I doubt I ever will again either. I know the car is doing it for me, so there is nowt to check!!

Can only open boot by holding down middle button on fob
oh and p.s.... The boot just clicks unlocked for you but doesn't actually open by itself?

Rev counter in eco mode
As a (slight) aside you may also see on your DSG that the car sometimes puts itself back into gear depending on the severity of the hill you are going down and current speed. Depends where you live maybe, here in the Pennines I get this sometimes, a feature I imagine so that you don't end up doing 150mph by the time you're at the bottom of a huge hill.

Can only open boot by holding down middle button on fob
The fob sounds correct, I have to press and hold the middle button. I assume this is to avoid accidental presses. The car will lock itself if unlocked but not opened, whereas the boot cannot close itself. The boot itself, the car does not have to be unlocked to operate it. Are you trying via Kessy, i.e. with the keys with you while standing pressing the boot button? If yes, sounds like you have a fault on the car, as my boot works via Kessy and a boot button press, the car itself in this scenario does not unlock. Anti-hijack feature I imagine. If the car is already unlocked, my boot will operate via the boot button even if I have popped the keys back into the house.

Reversing Auto Brake?
This is with regards my Superb but it's the same system... Reversing slowly off my driveway last week, a woman walked past on the pavement on the opposite side of the road when I was only about half a metre into the road, the Superb immediately brought me to a halt. I thought that was fantastic, a very safety-conscious feature given the amount of kids that zip up and down the street on their bikes. p.s. you can disable the brake feature once via the touchscreen. It comes back on next time you put it in reverse.

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Cancel the test drive. You're going to enter a world of pain if you buy one of these cars. I created this thread more than three months ago and Skoda are yet to fix any of the faults. My own rejected MK4 is still sat in a wasteland compound out the back of the dealership, untouched. I cannot stress enough that the Octavia MK4 is not worthy of your money or the stress it will cause you.

Myskoda App
Judging by various comments around this forum and elsewhere, and my own experiences, the issue lies solely with the Skoda app/network being down. Thanks for info relating visiting the dealer. That was my understanding too, but it seems I have one of the dealers who doesn't seem to know what to do. Again I have seen people say that across the forum, so that is a crazy failing on Skoda's behalf that it is completely down to luck of the draw as to whether you live near a dealer that knows how to do this. They really need a function to enable in-app verification by some means.
-
Myskoda App
How did you actually get the app to be convinced to use the unlock feature? I too seem to have a dealer with zero idea how to validate me as driver. I maintain what I said in the Octavia forum when I had my MK4: I wouldn't pay a quid for this app after the free year expires. Partly because it is barely online these days, or is inaccurate at best. I can see my completely closed and locked car from here, yet the app is reporting the drivers door as being open. It isn't. It is closed and locked.

Eco Mode ... Is it worth using ?
Okay, thanks.

Eco Mode ... Is it worth using ?
Fair do's mate. I'll never understand forums where people chip in to say they have no interest in the discussion being had.

Eco Mode ... Is it worth using ?
It may have been useful to a few peeps if some useful data had been provided though, even if that were to show me I am wasting my time setting ECO mode on every trip! Conversely it may have seen others helped by deciding to start doing the same. Instead, two of us provided some data, then we moved to half a page about jam.

Eco Mode ... Is it worth using ?
Ah, another factor yeah...I use ACC as much as possible and cruise when I can if not on ACC.
