I wonder if the the fact I’m looking at a car with adaptive cruise and traffic assist will hopefully smooth it a bit. I’ve not considered this point, so thanks for raising it.

I’ve asked and had a reply from the dealer saying they’re very much marmite, and I can have them removed and the centre caps and bolt covers put on for a “small” fee. I wonder if it’d be cheaper to do it myself, but let’s see what they say!

Thanks for your input, cerainly food for thought. I don't plan on towing anything, I do quite a few short trips but the odd long drive once a week. In my superb, I've often worried about repeart short trips and the impact of the DPF, but thankfully never experienced any issues. Not a bad shout, I'm buying from the dealer so I'll certainly ask the question, I'm sure they'll have center caps and nut covers in the workshop.

Hi everyone, first-time poster here on the Karoq forums! I’m currently driving a 2017 (67 plate) 2.0 TDI DSG Superb L&K, which has been an excellent car over the years. It’s just about to hit 76,000 miles and has a few big services coming up (cambelt, water pump, and DSG). With it now approaching 8 years old, I’ve started thinking about moving on to something a bit newer. The Superb is really well-specced and packed with tech, and I’ll admit I’m slightly concerned about missing some of those features, not to mention the torque from the 2.0 engine. That’s why I’m leaning towards the Sportline trim in the Karoq, hoping it helps bridge that gap a little. I’ve got my eye on a 2022 (72 plate) 1.5 TSI DSG Karoq Sportline with the Travel Assist pack. It only has around 6,600 miles on the clock and looks like a solid option. I did also consider a 2023 SE-L in Petrol Blue that was impressively specced, but I just couldn’t get past the grey plastic trim around the arches and lower doors… personal taste, I know! That said, I’m aware the colour of the Sportline I’m looking at might divide opinion — but after a run of black and grey cars, my wife and I are definitely up for something a bit bolder. I've already noticed the unsightly plastic pieces on the alloys, but I’ve seen a few discussions where people have successfully removed them. I’d really appreciate any guidance on how to do this properly, and what parts are needed to achieve a clean, OEM look. Has anyone here made the move from a Superb to a Karoq? I’d love to hear your experiences and if there’s anything I should look out for!

Thanks for the thought so far. He told me there isn't any runout as if they put a claim into the manufacturer, they'd decline it, but if that's the case then I shouldn't be getting judder, so there has to be something wrong with the discs. But they're not prepared to do anything. As the discs are still pretty new in the grand scheme of things, is it reasonable to expect this to happen after the brakes have been run in? I've owned several cars over the years, albeit not as heavy as the superb, but I wouldn't consider myself a heavy-footed braker, except for the odd-spirited drive.

In September last year, I had new discs/pads on my '67 plate L&K 140. Around approx 1k ago, I noticed the brakes starting to judder under heavy braking e.g. coming down to a roundabout from 70mph. I complained to the garage last week, and they've had the car back in and replaced the front pads under warranty, as they said there was potential movement in the carriage. I've then taken the car away for a 200-mile approx round trip, and the juddering is still present, albeit not as bad. I rang him to advise it's still happening, and he said they'll have the car back in again. He then called me back and told me that the discs aren't warped as he's had a tool on them to check them, but they've got 'hot' at some point (discs get hot, don't they!) he said the manufacturer won't accept a warranty claim as they're not warped. So there isn't much else they can do. he's now effectively said they're not prepared to do anything unless I want to pay for new discs... Has anyone had any similar experience with this, could it be something else?

I know, right? Im not sure what insurance is like in Australia, but in the UK, even if you make a non-fault claim, you’ll still be rewarded with inflated premiums the following renewal. So I’ll pay an initial excess, then pay again due to increased “risk” almost feels pointless having it, except it’s a legal requirement.

So... some kind person has kindly introduced their car door to the sharp edge of my rear nearside wheel arch whilst parked in a car park. I've been to our local 'chipsaway' body shop, and I've been quoted £408 to put it right, this is due to poor access of the panel, so will require a drill & pull. It will also require the rear door to be sprayed to blend it. So I've two options, accept that it happened and move on, or pay to put it right. Has anyone had any experience with any local body shops in the midlands that might be able to beat the £408 I've been quoted? Gutted is an understatement, I accept cars get knocked and damaged, but this has been done with some force.

I've got this issue on my late 2017 L&K hatch, the Skoda dealer managed to clear the blockage the first time it went in, but it left a nasty horrible rusty residue all over my boot lid. It then proceeded to block up again and they can no longer clear it. I've been advised that the pump is built into the wiper motor and that they can replace it to the tune of £209. It seems it uses different parts to the estate, where you can just replace the pump. I really wish I could get it working, but it's not worth £200 to put it right.

Yes, I was quoted £500 for just the cambelt, but only an insane person would pay out £500 for the water pump to then fail.. Assuming I can just request them to change to variable / flexible servicing whilst its with them? Thankfully I didn't pay the crazy prices, as I went through 'Secret Service' on bookmygarage,com. I've done similar just now, I've booked my cam belt and water pump with them direct, then booked via the site above for a discounted service/brake fluid change. I emailed their customer service team and asked them to amalgamate the booking, which they've confirmed they've done. Interim Service £91.20 (not sure what an interim service would cost, but its a lot less than an extended scope check £245.00) Brake Fluid Replacement £39.99 (down from £65.00 quoted with them directly)

So I'm keen to make sure I'm staying on top of maintaining my Superb as it's our family car, but also keen not to be getting ripped off. I'll cancel the 'extended scope' service and take it elsewhere for an interim service and brake fluid check. I assume £600 for the cambelt and waterpump is the going rate?

According to the itemised receipt, they completed an oil change, replaced fuel, air and pollen filters, and completed a load of visual checks.

Long story short, my '67 Plate Superb is booked in for its cam belt & water pump With Bristol Street Skoda, Derby to the tune of £600. It's 5 years old so understand it needs to be done. Last year in September I opted for a Major Service with them, at around 47,000 miles. The DSG gearbox oil was done in March '21, also with them. They're now quoting me £245 for a service (extended scope) as well as £65 for a brake fluid change, however with the car only having only done 6.5k miles since the last service, surely it only needs an interim service? Surely I could just take it to an independent and have an interim service and brake fluid change done for a fraction of the cost?

Thanks @ApertureS, reviewing that specific fault code, it appears that was from 2021.07.05, so appears to be an old fault code. 5231 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure P0087 00 [096] - Too Low Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear This one doesn't appear to have any date/time stamp, so difficult to understand when it was. Ivan has kindly cleared all codes, so waiting to see if it happens again.

In the last few weeks, I've had a couple of instances where the EML has come on and subsequently gone off again. The car is driving fine, with no obvious issues. That being said, the EML typically doesn't come on for no reason, so I'm keen to understand what potentially caused it to see if anything needs addressing. just be careful if you've got the kick sensor for closing the boot (or whatever its called) I turned off my beep, and I've been smacked on the head on more than one occasion, because the cat has triggered it to close, or I've triggered with my foot by accident. 😆

I'm a fan, I've noticed my 19" alloys are doing the same. They were in great condition when I got the car last April, but a year on and they're started to deteriorate. I'm almost convinced the company I bought the car from had had the wheels refurbished, as I can't see how between Sept '17 & April '21 they remained pristine, and then a year of me owning them they've gone bad. I noticed mid last year, when cleaning, I could see what looked like clear coat peeling off from some of the cut edges. If you don't mind me asking, was it expensive to get them done?
