  1. I can only imagine, the 32 element ones on the Mk4 are pretty awesome, yours must be like daylight! 😅
  2. Agree with @SteveTheElder that they were a bit of a mixed bunch, looking through the forums it appears to me that there were more issues with UK market cars than anywhere else for some reason. I know they are slightly different spec to the cars we get down at this end of the world, though a lot of the electronics are shared. Might just be perception vs reality though.... FWIW my vRS was new in early 2021 and apart from the occasional glitch with infotainment, usually something like a parking sensor warning that always goes away on restart it has been trouble free and a lovely car all round. I guess some glitching is to be expected as there are so many computers/modules that all have to talk to each other at some stage you're going to get a 'computer says no' situation. This is not exclusive to Skoda or VAG cars either to be fair, seems nearly all late model cars have the odd problem, just the nature of the beast IMO, just like every now and again your PC or phone will do something weird, but nearly always solved by turning it off and on again. I was watching Top Guns: Inside the RAF on TV last night and they had a situation where two Typhoons were scrambled to intercept some Russian planes straying to close to NATO airspace, and one of the Typhoons wouldn't power up, so the pilot had to leave it and use a spare jet. The RAF mechanics ended up resetting what they called a "flying computer" after the glitch which was an altitude mode dropout (fairly serious!), resolving the issue by simply "turning it off and on again". And this is a circa 100 million GBP aircraft.....
  3. Perfect! Great result FWIW don't feel bad, there's a lot to learn on these cars after coming from something slightly more analogue! Took me ages to find all the different settings and adjustments etc., and I probably still haven't found everything! The other day I found that the option of pressing and holding the button on the remote no longer lowered all the windows, even though the setting was on in the infotainment. Bit of a head scratcher, until I discovered that at some stage someone (maybe me) had held one of the window switches up or down too long which had reset the automatic feature on the windows, so not only did the remote not work but the 'hit the switch once' to wind the windows up automatically didn't work either. Simply reset by winding windows all the way up and holding the button for 3 seconds, and then all the way down and holding for 3 seconds - now everything works as it should again. 'Simply clever' - too clever for it's own good sometimes.... 🤣😂
  4. @Missyoctober What model Octavia do you have, and are you sure the lights are LED?
  5. I'll second the above, the Matrix LED's on my 2021 Octavia are awesome!
  6. Bridgestone's in general I've found to be rather noisy (the more sporty orientated ones, not the eco type), not bad for wear/grip but that tyre noise is a turn off. I found the Good Year F1's were fine, but wore rather quickly. I replaced them with Toyo Proxes Sport's - I've always had a good run out of Toyo's on previous cars, seem to wear well good grip in wet and dry and last well too. Not to mention there's often some good deals on them! NZ tends to be a little unique for tyre wear due to the coarse volcanic chip that predominates on our roads. Nothing wrong with Michelin either to be fair - just put a set of the new Power 6's on one of my bikes, definitely prefer them to the Pirelli Rosso III's I was running previously.
  7. This is still relevant to the 4.5: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/527588-recommended-tyre-pressures-are-they-too-high/
  8. Ah yes, that was it - couldn't remember the details.
  9. I'll second @SteveTheElder 's post, just a plain cubby hole on my '21 vRS. I too find the so-called 'bag for life' from the supermarket a handy thing to have stashed in the back, in fact I have a few of them as they seem to live marginally longer than a house fly in my experience...
  10. I know on the earlier Mk4's some people had a rattle coming from the centre speaker in the dash, think from memory it was the speaker grille/cover, so that might be worth investigating. Rattles are hard to pin down.
  11. I guess it must be all the electronics on these things as I've noticed on mine, you don't need to leave the key and ignition off for it to start complaining and asking to be started! And agreed, the only time I see 6.5L/100Km (on occasion less if I'm really light footed) is open road cruising. Still a huge improvement on my old vehicle which was a 3.6 litre V6!
  12. I think you're misunderstanding my question - is this information about the update coming directly from Skoda, or is this the dealer telling you? If the latter I smell BS and it may be worth an email to Skoda themselves to clarify.
  13. Is this coming from the dealer or Skoda themselves?
  14. Did a bit of digging on this, and apparently the whole idea with Bluetooth is the fact that all versions are backward compatible with older versions, the only restriction being that when connected the devices will operate at the features of the oldest version. So, for example if you have a BT 5.4 device connected to a BT 4.0 then you will only get the features of BT 4.0.
  15. I don't know if you remember, but about a year ago I pointed you to this thread regarding tyre pressures: That thread is the actual can of worms... 🤣😂
  16. I use both Waze and Spotify every day in my '21 vRS with no such issues (Samsung S22). I guess the first question is are all the apps, and operating system on phone up to date? The other possible fix is to unpair the phone and then re-pair, sometimes it's just something simple. One other thing is, I assume this is connected via Bluetooth? Maybe try turning off BT and connecting via a USB cable and see if you have the same problem, the more things you can rule out the better IME. FWIW my phone is on Android version 16, Waze and Spotify are latest versions and BT version 5.2
  17. Not sure that's correct, I have a Samsung S22 that's a few years old now and that has Bluetooth version 5.2 and works fine with my Octavia.
  18. Good stuff. There's so many things to learn with these cars coming from a relatively analogue vehicle, it took me a good few months to get my head around most of it, but I'm sure there's still things I haven't found! We almost need a 'tips and tricks' section for new owners!
  19. Are there signs someone has forced the filler door? Seems weird to me...
  20. Another thing you may not know, and again I assume the 4.5 is the same - you don't actually need to manually release the EPB, if you put the car in gear and drive off (reverse or forwards) it releases automatically.
  21. Another thing that hasn't been mentioned, and I assume it's the same for the 4.5 - on my Mk4 vRS if you turn the ignition off with your foot on the brake it automatically puts it into Park and applies the handbrake (without Auto Hold on).
  22. For members that may have this issue in the future, can you describe the steps to fit?
  23. I got this (original Skoda) one from Kopacek: https://www.kopacek.com/skoda/octavia-iv/octavia-iv-combi-original-skoda-rear-bumper-protective-panel-glossy-black#description Fitted my vRS perfectly - if you're in the UK as I believe Kopacek don't ship there anymore, you could try your Skoda dealer with the part number: 5E7061195
  24. I've had my vRS since May '21 and it's been trouble free as far as permanent errors go, yes I've had a few 'glitches' with the infotainment system, things like park distance error etc., but they have always resolved themselves on restart - pretty much like any computer. From what I've seen on here, and it's just my impression is that the majority of the issues seem to be with UK cars - this may be biased by the fact that there may be a majority of UK owners on here. There are also other factors like different specifications for different markets, for instance down under our cars have different engines to the European ones, so hard to compare apples with apples to some extent. It also seems that UK dealers are a bit more problematic than in some countries...
