  1. It's not a problem of getting in. The newest VAG ECU needs to connect with their servers to authenticate changes. Even if you found a way to fool that you would most likely lose every other feature that requires connection and also updates would likely revert your map or just break something. I wouldn't bet on remaps just not being available at all. Or if they are they will require some external hardware to fool the car ECU.
  2. That's true, android auto has quite a few issues, but it's even worse with barely supported Chinese brands.
  3. It's not like those chips are the same ones. The shortage seems to be in certain areas, chips are manufactured in all kinds of different sizes and variations of photolithography. The more cutting edge the process is the worse the shortage. Computers and consoles are hitting shortages when it comes to graphics chips and processors, but for example storage and RAM is plentiful. Same with cars, I think some people dug up that the particular chips hindering Octavia production are the ESP ones and I think the camera processing ones, not sure if I'm remembering right at the moment.
  4. Honor/Huawei phones might be problematic, because Google/China issues. They used to have problems for a long time. I would not be surprised.
  5. You can't stop advertising even if you have no product. They need to keep their name visible among others. There were PS5 advertisements all over the place for half a year after launch and you couldn't buy one anywhere and it's even more important for cars, cars need brand image because they're not just appliances, they are a status symbol too.
  6. I get what they're doing with it though. Another 6.5 woofer with a decent enclosure increases the volume at bass frequencies, it doesn't extend much below 40Hz and to be honest for most music it's hard to notice that. Few songs even have bass at those low frequencies that isn't just mushy noise.
  7. Subwoofer is 6.5 inches. It's not really a subwoofer.
  8. But it is a very expensive option and honestly cloth is nice to have both in winter and summer. I couldn't justify adding that option when ordering.
  9. Sure, but if you really want deep bass then stepping up to 10 inches would be noticeable too.
  10. So it's either the amplifier or the processing, changing the speakers isn't going to do much. After all they all are just paper/fiber cones with a magnet.
  11. Are you sure the speakers need upgrading? Pretty sure the stock speakers are 6.5 inches, you're not going to find any magic speaker in the aftermarket either, you would need to get a more powerful amplifier to see any effect. Just add a 8-10 inch sub and it will have more bass.
  12. Of course it's possible. But it depends on what you want to upgrade exactly. Adding a sub isn't that hard, you can always put in a sub with line level inputs.
  13. If the engine is cold or the outside temp is cold or the interior temp is low the engine wouldn't even switch off.
  14. Sounds normal to me. The shortage is very real.
  15. If that was the case over here I wouldn't even consider a Skoda. BMW holds value way better and it's also just nicer to have.
  16. It's crazy that the price there is similar enough for you to even consider a 3 series. Over here a base spec 330i touring is 15k Euro more than a base spec RS. And BMW definitely gets less equipment, much more expensive insurance.
  17. Reassembling has other issues. People who do it need to be trained, you run into sealing issues, warranty. It's better for everyone involved to get a completely new unit and that price isn't actually so bad.
  18. Shipping routes of everything were disrupted. There are thousands of container ships stranded and there are also containers waiting for ships for months. My factory is struggling to get packaging materials, forget replacement parts, those take months.
  19. I imagine fitting them not on the production line takes quite a bit of time. Each worker has to go in disassemble cars, put in modules and assemble then test it, so it's not going to be a fast process ever.
  20. That's the world we live in. Shortages of everything.
  21. It wouldn't make sense to replace on the same specs, but you could easily take that high-level input from this subwoofer and plug it into a bigger subwoofer with it's own amplifier for an easy and cheap upgrade. I was thinking of doing that, but I'm worried that Škoda might try to pull some **** if something breaks under warranty and I modify the car like that.
  22. Check the pictures thread
  23. Tuning before you can change any of the ECU settings seems like a gigantic waste of time. Software might never be cracked. Unless you plan to put a custom ECU in way down the line.
  24. Pretty sure all new cars have plastic (some version of polycarbonate) lights. Crash safety and weight savings. Strange how your insurance doesn't cover something like that. Over here it would be covered, just 100-200 Euros for the claim.
  25. What's frightening about it? You release the brake and the engine is on before you even start thinking about accelerating.
