I don't think a full fix is going to happen at all. It probably has something to do with the technical capabilities of the current camera/radar. Like if they tune down the sensitivity too much it stops working completely. Other things might get fixed.

Hahaha, you're doing it too. Defending Tesla, blaming Skoda. Model 3 had assembly issues, hardware and software faults for more than 3 years since it released, just recently they recalled another half a million vehicles and they don't make nearly as many as Skoda to begin with. The only issue that Skoda has that is critical is the auto braking, but it's market specific on German forums no one speaks about it randomly happening so it has to do something with wrong side of the road.

Tesla does that too, but they are applauded for it. 🤣

That wouldn't normally be a problem, the software before this move was good so if the management worked correctly they would have poached all the right people for the switch to internal software from the companies that developed MIB2 and all the Audi software prior to that.

It feels more like a management issue. The software isn't some complicated new thing, it just needs to be optimized with correct management of resources you wouldn't even need that many people to do it, but it's taking them years.

Apparently Seat and VW are already beta testing 1890 version of the software which is pretty good. Can't find any news on the Skoda side though. Hopefully it works as advertised and soon.

Even if it does eat batteries it doesn't seem normal. My father has a Renault Laguna 3 with keyless entry and the keys last a couple years, the spare one even longer.

I ordered Viofo A129 plus, because it has a capacitor instead of a battery so I won't have to remove the cam during winter or hot summer days. Guess that's not much of an issue in the UK.

I've sat on these forums and on German ones since first Octavias were delivered and software+new hardware seems to have fixed most of the issues, there aren't many new people coming in to complain. People who still have problems are mostly early adopters, but there seems to be a recall happening, conditions for which aren't very clear though. Though the emergency braking issue seems to remain, I think it has something to do with you guys driving on the wrong side, maybe VAG can't figure out how to swap their code to the other side or they don't care about a smaller market.

Big news from the dealer, my RS ordered in May is finally done and arriving to Lithuania. No spec changes afaik, other than new colour. What is even more strange is that the dealer also received another RS that was configured by the factory and it also has Canton, but it's a MY22 since it has the challenge pack too. They're currently selling it, without any discount obviously. 🤣 So it seems like Canton is still possible to put in, but they don't let you order it. Maybe trying to fill all the orders and build up stock for the next year?

The manual is a bit wrong btw, you don't actually have to fully floor the accelerator, it's possible to use less RPM for the launch if you know the conditions can't handle the maximum. Can get a better time this way and less drama.

You can tweak the volume too, it's unbelievably stupid how that's not available just through infotainment. Car makers and their decisions...

I didn't order DCC, because I might keep the car after the warranty and I might put lowering springs on it too, so it would be a waste of money and replacing DCC shocks after warranty is just expensive as hell. Not to mention I plan to disable soundaktor via obdeleven and just always use the car in normal mode, never have to go into that screen.

Are you sure? A lot of modules are locked with sfd, pretty sure the key programming would be one of those.

The car checks if the key is inside. Some cars can be stolen via canbus, but I think all new models aren't vulnerable to that.

It's a fine invention, just be mindful of it and if you keep your keys close to the car put them in a metal box at home, that's it. It's not like the car becomes impossible to enter without keyless entry, it still has a physical lock.

Okay, then keep the smaller drivers in the doors, but the bigger subwoofer would definitely work and fit in the boot, the spare wheel one only exists because it can be the same one in 80% of VAG cars that way. Cost cutting.

I think the only reason Canton has been disappointing people is the lack of deep bass. That's all anyone seems to care about in car audio these days. But of course the audio could be improved in the same budget, if the engineers cared about it. The woofers in the doors should have been 6.5 inch and the sub could easily fit in a huge box on the side of the boot, enough space for a 8-10 inch without having to sit in the wheel.

Most of them do actually. Nextbase is the official Škoda supported brand though if you're uncomfortable picking on your own.
