MIB3 Map Updates - again!
Update - went to my local dealer and mentioned tpi / software update and they seemed confused and surprised I had access to tpi numbers as we were not supposed to have them! Said no update was available for my car but noticed that "data protection was not authorised" on the connect portal that they have access to so they felt this was stopping the online map updates. I had my doubts but took the email address they gave to chase this up. I then rang my not quite so local supplying dealer and told them the issue - they rung back a little later and said a software update was available and it is now booked in for a few weeks time - they felt the data protection bit was most probably a red herring - I still dont know what the data protection bit is and I dont think my local dealer did either other than it was not authorised - all I know is I have connect and also did the validate id bit with the dealer as well - If I was asked about data protection I am sure I would have responded to that at the registration time. Hopefully the update will sort the issue!

MIB3 Map Updates - again!
Thanks - was just replying to another reply when yours came through at same time - I think your reply has summed up my position pretty well! My car was registered new in Jun21 - some of the under the bonnet date stamped parts suggest it was approx Mar-Apr21 build? I have all connect services registered

MIB3 Map Updates - again!
Yes, I do have connect and no my maps have never updated as far as I know - purchased it new in Jun21 - had dealer service a few weeks ago and I did mention software update to them but nothing was done and I was not that bothered at the time as I have never had any issues/error messages etc. However, I would like to update maps if poss whilst I remain on my 0270 software? So the screenshot of the files I attached earlier can directly be copy/pasted onto USB stick as they are? - I was not sure if I needed to (or had!) zipped unzipped correctly!

MIB3 Map Updates - again!
My software is stuck on 0270 and maps on original (I guess) 21.5 - i am now trying to update maps via usbc - I have downloaded to c drive/pc the ECE2022 off portal using MS Edge - it then said "open file" and now I have the below/attached list - not sure what to do now? Thats as far as I have got - nothing transfered to usb stick as yet as only on c drive - Have I already unzipped file ? (and if not what do I use to do that?). If it is ready as below, do I simply copy /paste all/whole of the list onto usb c stick? File name suggests maps are not 2022 but 25 (July??) of 2021 - is that latest mapset?

What have you done to your Karoq today?
The LED interior light set is the same set I fitted. Makes a big difference

LED Headlight washers
Thanks - you were correct, lights were on auto setting during daylight so not fully on - as soon as I tested them when it was dark, the led washers worked as expected - the reason I had never spotted this before was because somehow it looks like I had previously disabled them via Carista - they are now enabled again via Carista and working again
-
LED Headlight washers
I Always leave my lights on auto. From memory I have tried getting the led washers to work with the engine off and ignition on and with the engine on but it still did not work in either scenario.

LED Headlight washers
HI - I have carista so did a few minor tweaks on my Karoq - almost from day one from new. I believe the only thing I did was increase the activation time before the led washers cut in when performing a normal windscreen wash - this was to avoid the led washers cutting in by default every time I used the windscreen washers - having done this tweak I am now not sure if they have ever worked (before or after I tweaked it) . However, with all this winter weather I thought I would try to make sure they are working - I have reduced the activation time via carista before they cut in to virtually nothing and tried multiple quick pulses to see if they cut in after 10 windscreen washers but nothing seems to happen. Probably serves me right if I have changed a setting I shouldn't have done, but carista changes are normally easily reversible ! - Also aware that eventually they will need to work to pass the mot - would appreciate anyone's thoughts

Interior and boot light upgrade
The sunvisor lights were definitely not led on my MY 21 SEL - but they are now! I did find the front lights a bit of a faff, I did end up taking the unit apart and did almost break one of the pivot lugs in the process but it did all go back together fine. From memory, I took one bit apart to get access to the screws and then other bit then pivots down but be careful when you do this ( a 2nd person would help) as if your not careful it comes out of its own accord putting stress on plastic bits. Not sure if there is a short cut, as after I finished I wondered if there was a better way of doing it! I must say the new lights are fab - if anything now too bright! I looked at the below video from you tube to help me and it was more or less the same method - my roof console bit looks slightly different but it gives you a good idea Replace interior dome lights with LED Škoda Karoq 2020 (How To) - YouTube

Interior and boot light upgrade
Thanks - From memory, it looks identical. I was having problems getting the little cover marked 2, off to access the bulb. Perhaps I’ll have another go at it when the outside light is better!

Interior and boot light upgrade
Forgot to add in my earlier post that I have still not fitted the glovebox light. I managed to get the whole holder out of the glove box okay but couldn’t see how to get the little “metal cage” that surrounds the bulb out to access the bulb. If Anyone knows any tips on doing that, please let me know

Interior and boot light upgrade
Well, I’ve replaced all the interior lights with the little kit that I ordered from earlier in the thread . Must say I was quite impressed with the kit itself, even comes with plastic trim removal thing and the led’s make a huge difference- if anything it’s now too bright! In terms of fitting the bulbs, my comments are 1. the owners handbook is bloody useless (unless I am missing where it is listed) 2. I found it was largely trial and error (and a little help from you tube but again there is little on there either!) to remove the panels - refitting the bulbs is straightforward though. 3. The most difficult/awkward is the front light panel. Ended up having to take most of the 2/3 panel bits off and by then I was at point of no return (although once I had done that I thought is there an easier way!) and also broke a tiny clip off on one of the panels but fortunately it all went back together nicely 4. I ordered through Ali express - took 2-3 weeks and only cost £8-9 - so can’t understand why on earth Skoda did not fit better lights in first place Here is the finished product along with one or two part way through photos pic 1 is rear centre lights, pics. 2 and 3 are sun visors and pic 4 is showing both rear centre and front centre, pic 5 is front centre light panel One thing that puzzled me is that the 3 mini lights near the sunglasses holder look like they are wired up but do not work (difficult to see if bulbs are in there as light was fading) and another is I don’t remember the two mini map lights near the on/off buttons ever working before but they do now

couple of questions
1. Front tyres at 6K are starting to wear a little on outside edge (think thats fairly normal?) so whats peoples thoughts on rotating them front to rear - its on its original bridgestones - never really done this before but a little concerned about the exorbitant replacement tyres cost so looking to maximise wear before replacing 2. Has anyone noticed getting random traffic announcements when not in nav/routing mode - happened a few times now whilst listening to radio - its not normal radio traffic news report, its definitely coming from the inbuilt nav or other infotainment traffic function. Not sure why but its pretty cool!

PCP question
A question for any of you with pcp expertise ! I am aware of the basic principles of a PCP as I have had many 😀. One thing I have never understood though is if you only really have the intention of trading the vehicle in to either a dealer or the likes of wbac, motorway etc as opposed to the option of returning to the lease company, is there are any point setting it up with a higher (even if it is more realistic) annual mileage and paying more per month? If I understand it correctly, if I set a lower annual mileage I pay less per month so isn’t it better to do this and then just receive whatever the then market value is once it is traded in via the above routes or have I misunderstood? The reason I ask is for the first time in my pcp history, I may go over the annual mileage set by 1-2k per year. I am in first year of a four year pcp. Therefore, do I a) renogotiate mileage with lease company and pay more month b) stick with mileage limit and pay whatever mileage penalty is if I choose to hand it back to lease company c) trade it in as above at the relevant point and just take a chance on the trade in value compared to the settlement figure?

Trip Planner - Send to Vehicle issue
I’ve tried this twice recently and neither time did it appear on the entertainment screen at all.. However on One or two previous occasions, it did appear more or less instantly . Unless it works instantly and consistently it’s not really worth having imo

Interior and boot light upgrade
Folks, I’m thinking of upgrading the interior (front and middle) and boot lights to LED or similar. Despite searching I’m unable to find much information on this. Can anyone guide me as to what type/spec bulbs I need and how easy it is to change all these bulbs? If anyone’s got any video of changing these that would be greatly appreciated

Service/Nav queries
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I accept that the PCP service Package offers 2 “fixed” services in terms of their description, but no where can I find that they have to be carried out at fixed intervals or that the vehicle must remain on fixed servicing. My dealer has also confirmed this, so to me it is now clear. Having said all that, I do like your suggestion of changing to variable at year 2 and may do that after all as by year 4 , I very likely will not have the car and servicing will not be my concern.

Service/Nav queries
I agree it’s confusing and yes I think I might contact the finance company for clarification so will update thread accordingly. It’s a four year PCP and as things stand I would expect to keep it for at least three years. If you have anything re t&c’s that says the plan must be used up within a two year period I’d like to see that as it gives me a bit more ammunition as I don’t want to get stung!
