  1. ETA: I expect you fully cleaned and lubricated the rails and release mechanism.
  2. Guesses - something under the seat or on a rail preventing full range of moving back, rails wrong way round or on wrong sides to seat or floor, that's all.
  3. Before I broke the gearbox reversing light switch using a long Mac knuckle saver 22 mm combination spanner my neighbour lent me I had LED bulbs in my reversing lights equivalent to the 21w incandesce originals and the LEDs were very bright, too bright really but they lit the are well and anyone would certainly see them as they approached.
  4. C'mon, a blind man wouldn't be happy to see that and he'd slice his fingers open if he felt it. Let's be generous and say a bit of plastic has broke off and it's not by design and build. 😄
  5. Personally I'd have the mechanic (whatever title he has) do the driving so that he can feel if there is any feel when you point out the sound. But getting anyone in a Dealership to go out in the car with you would be an achivement in the UK.
  6. Thanks. Sorry I didn't see that as the reply previously.
  7. Hi, welcome. You could have a look in the following Briskoda sections below to see if there's info and advice on this (my advice is always, change the oil and to better than VW use for slight change improvement but of course it won't reduce the throw lengths). 'Fabia project' - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/205-fabia-projects/ 'Performance & Tuning Upgrades' - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/212-performance-tuning-upgrades/ HTH.
  8. Yeap same with phots and videos, variations with the recording equipment plus on playback equipment and of course the techniques used by the person(s) doing the recording, that iss why a (reasonably) good set of eye, ears, nostrils and body feel are helpful as diagnostic tools picking up things the computers won't. Of course time, patience and a willing attitude may also be required, these aren't always available or allowed at all garages. Your English is good. No you should not hear the gear change really and certainly not really noticeable above the sound of a radio. I am sure there must be something wrong and the Dealership should sort it, the fact it is not clearly heard on your recording does not matter. Is it possible to get a mechanic out driving the car with you as passenger and point out when the noises happen. You have a nearly new car and there is something wrong with it, they need to sort it. From my limited experience the VW engines and gearboxes generally are not bad but neither are they great however they should work well enough at least for a while particularly whilst still under the short warranty offered. Good luck.
  9. It's like pulling teeth with you sometimes - obviously you don't have to answer, and you haven't, perhaps if I'm clearer, more direct. Did you use red LEDs behind the red lenes? Did you use amber LEDs behind amber lenes (if the lenses are amber)?
  10. No I don't mean the angle of the photo but the cut out shape of the plastic to allow OBD plug into port, is that shape really from factory or do you have really young grand or great grand children that took a blade to the bottom of the dash! Or has a piece of the plastic broken off there.
  11. Sounds like you're doing as reasonably well as expect. I can't think taking the door seal off is that difficult, thou' I might be wrong and can't check as the Fabia isn't here, you might need to be a bit firmer with it but of course take care as I might be telling you to break something. I'm not sure if I'd use bits of hard plastic to hold the carpet up rather than foam but it might not make much odds. Has the windscreen been replaced, I'm thinking of it not being fully or properly seal or a small leak accumulation. I think having all these bottom wiping buttons and features in modern cars encourages some disengagement of brain so some drivers think their cars are fully amphibious, luckily for them the insurance companies expect this from modern drivers. Good luck.
  12. ETA: the photos seem fine on my MS powered PC but I also see in your post a dud grey 'Upload Attachment... Unavailable' box.
  13. Derek, in this photo the indented cut out looks a very odd shape is this from factory as it looks like the type of work I'd do with a junior hacksaw blade and my unsteady hand and wonky eyes?
  14. Hi, welcome. In case you've not already seen it, as well as all the other sections on various models and subjects on Briskoda there's an Octavia section that includes Mk3, Guides and Projects. - Škoda Octavia - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/169-%C5%A1koda-octavia/ HTH.
  15. I am only making the point of the additional maintenance costs and hassle of a make of car that needs consideration of changing the timing belt, tensioners, water pump, thermostat and all belts at 120,000kms (which is only 75,000 miles), good engineering for some no doubt but not the person that pays the bills on this. The German marques have their end users well trained. 😄
  16. Yes I follow that but you need to put red LEDs behind red plastic or glass lenes and amber LED behind amber lenses, did you do that?
  17. At the risk of getting moaned at again for thread drift (again) you do have to be like my good self for a Spridget, slim, athletic and young. Thinking about it now I don't think we were ever in the area in a MG though there were a few in the group (multi-marque club). I can remember on one of the tour there was a note on the route in Bowland that said at a particular point if you looked to the left you'd see the coast or Blackpool or something, it of course wasn't a clear day. that tour or another we were supposed to have a short tour or talk and lunch at the the nuclear place but it got cancelled, I don't think that was my fault. Our tour organiser was part of the Wigton Motor Club and managed to get our little bumble on the same weekend as the RAC? National Rally stage in the area which normally isn't allowed but our paths were apart. Going along a nice single track road and I heard the sound of something mighty meaty and before I knew round the bend came a Group N? I froze taking up the whole road and without the slightest hesitation it went up the bank and by me before I knew almost blowing my doors off with its exhaust noise. Fabulous. It was going off script between garage points I think so we put it down as a figment of my imagination, and my good luck. I think it must have been on Tesco 99. 😃 20 something year old cars in the 1990s, both used for work and pleasure, after, not before, I bought the BGT I discovered I liked drop tops. My wife drove the B on the day of the photo and when I said at first tea/pee stop she was dropping back a bit she said at one point she had to drop a gear as the car seemed sluggish, I had a quick look, felt the rear wheels and suggested she might not have fully released the handbrake, the B reportedly went better after this, cleared the drums a bit at least. 😄 (teal blue, Henlys, local garage ("British Racing") Green)
  18. If you can leave al but the driver's carpet up when driving it's something, not much tho'. I was going to suggest dropping the windows but not with battling the air-con /climate control, again whatever you can (synthetic) chamois off the windows and out of the car will help with visibility. I'm not if you can drive the car with the passenger seat out so you can lift the carpet more that side, or the back seats, any cloth and sponge will hold some damp so if it's out of the car it's, er, at least not in the car. Obviously make sure you have no other damp or wet items in the car (dog's towels, wet boots or clothing). On the bright side your skin's probably well moistured. If you could add some food dye to the rain tonight you might find where the leak starts, you might need a good concentration tho' to stop it being too diluted and the volunteer outside at least has the satisfaction of knowing the one inside is also getting wet. Let's hope as often happens that the forecast is worst than the weather we actually get. All the best.
  19. You have room for a hip in the Bs. 😄 Scruffy don't matter it's how it goes (and should be going (used) and driven (as designed to be driven. In the Midget I promised not to overtake a single B, I'd always overtake them in pairs, not difficult and necessary with most B drivers. 😁 I can't remember having any leaks in the Bs but my memory isn't the best. Done a tour or two up or near there but never been to that pub which suggests it didn't have well served real ale there or it was shut when we were near. MG TwatNav -
  20. If it's a really storm you might need a net over the top cover to hold it on. Other side of the coin if some air gets under the cover it might lift some water off the cover and less wicking through perhaps (depending on cover material). Use what you can when you can but you'll need to get the water out as the dehumidifier will only be much use after that point. Heater, fan, dehumidifier is barely Tescos at this point. Get as much out as you can, let as little as possible back in, leave the carpets up where you can, remove as much soundproofing as possible that's holding water. Use heater and air-con when driving. I don't think turning the interior alarm bit off will make any odds but if it's only an ease of mind it's worth it. You have the room there in the photo to do the work but not the weather. Like my shed roof that I just discovered yesterday is wicking water to the inside and will need sorting (new roof) these jobs are best done on warm dry periods but of course that's not when they show up. Not as frustrating as your situation though.
  21. Cambelt change for appropriate engines in UK. - CamBeltchangechange.pdf
  22. Until 3 years ago my one and only car for the previous 16 years was a 1973 MG Midget (outdated and basic even in 1973) and for 30+ ears I used various "classic" (over priced, over valued) old cars for daily use throughout the whole year, commutes (300 and 500 miles a week for periods), for work, UK & European holidays and weekends away, club and show events. Now I bet you put your MG is a modern one 😄 (if not good odds on Tartan red B with chrome wire wheels, possibly BGT). 😁 Be interesting to see your case summary, though I might not understand all. 🙃 Good point about 'hot' and cold dipstick readings, with my wife's 2016 Fabia I can't remember any noticeable difference with the Midget unless I was going to drive it hard on holiday I'd only fill to about 80% of min to max, surprisingly it used very little oil and to be fair so far neither has the 9 year old Fabia, I like to be fair to VW when I can.
  23. 😄 Isn't Greece in the EU then. Did you use red LEDs behind red lenses on brake lights?
  24. Oil sits high on the stick when hot/warm, a regen probably gets everything warmer but I don't know how far back (er, forward) but that's the thing these regens will take a good while if previous regens have failed to complete successfully. For a good number of years diesels are sold to or bought by people who may not use them in a way must suitable to the most efficient running of the car, you may or may not be one of these people. I've not heard of this fill 200ml below to allow for failed regen but when my wife had our one and only diesel these DPF weren't on it and it was an over complicated VW brand car. Doing regens on the road can b e hard at times as you can't meet the requirements need, you can do a forced (or wotever its called) regen with a scan tool but you don't want to be parked on dry grass apparently things do get very hot. You need to get the regen done then make sure you get regular successful regens after. Despite diesel being so dirty some bits of it do need to be reasonable clean engine oil being one and I favour at least occasional use of the city? cleaner (😁) diesel fuel like Shell V-Power certainly two tankfuls before, during, after a service and/or MoT. The engine air filter being so clean doesn't matter apparently but it also doesn't want to like like a coal miner's handkerchief. I think I might get the regen done successfully then change engine oil and filter (well get shot of the car really) but I could well be wrong. Good luck let us know how you get on.
  25. It's the might in that sentence that I'm surprised at. If you got 7 years out if the car and only had this issue you have got away lightly in my experience of my wife's (not mine) 2016 Fabia. It might not be quite as bad as HereBeBeasties had it (do Fabias have sunroofs?) but that depends on the source of the leak and how far the water has run or wicked. HereBeBeasties gives a good idea of what it can entail. I'd not bother with a wet 'n' dry vacuum unless you really want or need one, things can still be done without power tools, synthetic type chamois and sponges can get the water out after soundproofing had dropped and dripped water inside cabin. Alarm going off could be as described or other. Let us know how you get on and how much water and effects of water you find. If you get GT85 it's a longer lasting lubricant (than WD-40 Multi-Use), good penetrating/releasing fluid, water disperser and smells nice. - https://gt85.co.uk/
