  1. The Dealership may well 'recommend' differently, especially if's your a lone woman taking and collecting the car but then they'll give a whole list of things that need attention.
  2. Do you have the 'Complete record' of service and maintenance (and Recall) works for your car? Cambelt info.- CamBeltchangechange.pdf 5-7k-miles a year, depending on the frequency of use and journey lengths is OK but in many ways more wearing on some bits of the car than say 20k-miles with lots of motorway use so look at servicing and maintenance on not just mileage but also time interval plus lots of short journeys and/or dusty environments reduce some of the service and matenance intervals. By now you may be up to changing the spark plugs again, air-con service (up to you) engine air filter, cabin pollen filter and brake fluid change (every 2 years). Fuel filter is as Warrior193 put. Most important things of course are brakes, steering and suspension, all three include tyres - so the brakes and tyres as regards servicing, maintenance and perhaps repairs if required to steering (not usual though) and perhaps suspension parts replacement if you can't put up with the noises some of them make. It depends on how much longer you want to keep the car on what more you might want to do, on my wife's 2015 (65 plate) I changed the "lifetime" coolant a few years back and the 5-speed manual gearbox oil at just over 5 years old (40k-miles, and to better oil than VW put in to help the clonk boxes they make) and certainly not because I like the car or farting about on it. Some servicing stuff for you. - HTH.
  3. Just looking at that photo only, which might or might not be accurate (stock photos) 205/45 r17 might be a bit tight being nominally 1/2" (15mm) wider but sizes are nominal and will vary by make and model of tyre and might depend on whether you keep the spare tyre at the highest pressure for the car against the lowest. A 215/45 r16 is nominally slightly not as wide as a 185/60 r15 and given the generous space above the tyre lying in the footwell (of that photo) should fit easily.
  4. Yeap lots of posts and some threads on this on and other model forums (possibly Scala forum too?) for the 1.0 (3-cylinder) but usually with older models than yours, often the with MPI engine (well Fabia Mk3 at least). You don't say which type or code of gearbox you have so information can only be general but wouldn't a 2023 still be under warranty. It could be a clutch or gearbox related issue or combination of both. On older (manual gearbox) cars you might look at the gear lever to box cables adjustment, swapping out the VW oil for better, different gear changing technique, more major changes. In conclusion, have a search for information and advice on this for your type of gearbox either through site search over all models or Google which will probably return you to Briskoda - or if under warranty go back to Dealers before the weather warms. HTH.
  5. For a illustration only. - https://www.willtheyfit.com/
  6. I heard a lorry haulage company owner call it this many years ago because he was fed up of interviewing potential driver's for his company and they didn't know basic well-known haulage routes in the UK off the top of their heads and were far too reliant on the electronic aids that were added mobile devices some drivers used, worst still they probably had retail rather than commercial versions hence lorries being on unsuitable roads and getting stuck or hitting low bridges with their high trailers because they weren't using their eyes and brain enough. He would be in total despair now with the delivery and 'taxi' drivers. 😀 Just for information, In case you need a job or more training and education n the UK and a bit of UK English to balance the US English - tyre place for tire shop. And, because instead of cause (or cos), the lift we call a two post lift. No, don't thank me for this. 😁
  7. Not everybody knows what you have put at the Brera and who can blame them as long as the information on jacking the car up is freely available and they know where to reliably find this information - hence the 'Owner's Manual'. Your Brera example means knowing assembly construction information too - and getting down on the ground to see if you can get your head under a car to see the holes. Not every car owner is an engineer or the slightest interested in car factory construction of any particular period or has lots of driving experience and I've no idea what is now taught in driving lesson, probably how to find the TwatNav in the menus or the button that magically takes away almost all driving responsibilities.
  8. Have a look here and see what it sez but double-check and cross reference any information you get from any source including manufacturers. - https://www.wheel-size.com/size/skoda/ Good luck.
  9. I thought I'd posted this link before but see I didn't, tyres are a very important complex (safety) component on a car, they affect braking, steering, suspension, handling, comfort and noise, too much of a mismatch on the axle and both axles can cause bigger issues. More information can be found in the 'Tyres & Wheels' forum of this site. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/213-tyres-wheels/
  10. Personally I'd ring the the Skoda Salesman (nice guy) and ask him to measure the actual diameter of the wheel well in the car you are buying - but then it might depend on how deep in the wheel well he measures, how accurate he is in his measuring - BUT given he told you Citigo wheels were the same perhaps you would be best going to measure the car yourself. From Mk4 forum - but I have no idea if a Mk4 wheel well is the same or different diameter as in a 2018 Fabia SE (or my wife's 2015 Mk3).
  11. Not for steam cleaning tho'. And non-food clingfilm is best, if it's still about.
  12. Perhaps previous people driving, storing or working on the car had an accident(s), or were idiots that caused the accident(s) - or just didn't read the 'Owner's Manual'. 😄
  13. Rightly or wrongly I'd be concerned about hidden or seen condensation from using steam particularly at this time of year. Rags and cleaners can clean up enough oil usually to see if fresh is oil is added. In warmer weather many years back I'd clean and "detail" an engine bay by the use of engine cleaner, a radiator brush, garden hose to flush and spray cleaner polish over the still wet/damp surfaces and wipe where required and just closed the bonnet and leave things to dry. If I was particularly bothered I might do a bit more spray cleaner polish and/or buff for shine. If I was worried about any electronics they'd be wrapped in clingfilm before starting and clingfilm off after hosing. Quick and effective, there are always lots more interesting things you can do whilst you wait for the engine bay to fully dry. I used to spend two days cleaning a car sometime after I first got it and just before putting it up for sale - but that was many years back.
  14. Research, experience, trial and error - and then things change, a former good manufacturer and/or supplier no longer is or for that particular part perhaps and on the other side a former poor manufacturer and/or supplier can improve (sometimes). You are doing a fair amount of research which is good (obviously, as much as possible, better done before considering getting the vehicle) are you also encouraging or allowing your son to do so too, not one of theses dad's that pretend buys the toys for the kid(s) or still spoon feeds the kid(s) (obviously I cleaned that bit up 😀). Learning by others experiences, and mistakes, is often more efficient and saves frustration, time and money but they are remembered more when you actually go through them for yourself (until you forget). Hands-on experience is definitely needed with old and new cars, with hand not powered tools too, things like how tight so as it doesn't come loose or you break it. Now it seems even though a few screws, bolts, nuts need tightening or loosening a power just has to be used, fair enough for professional that have (hopefully) learnt what they're doing and need the speed to get on to the next job but not for DIYers and especially those that are learning and inexperienced. Time for tea.
  15. A good idea to know where to find the information about cosmetics for the future but there are other priorities now and for a good while yet.
  16. @Carlston will give the full lowdown - spare wheel options for 2018 Fabia SE on 16" wheels (silly fashion size). @glenn_btn do bear in mind if you get a space saver size it's only a get you home/garage size don't drive around on it for normal use. Also all sizes of spare wheels/tyres often aren't checked and kept at correct pressure which is often discovered when their use is actually needed which is usually a very inconvenient time. Also do not rely on the car to tell the driver that a tyre is under pressure badly or deflating as by the time the warnings come up the tyre could be very deflated already, use your driving experience to tell you if something doesn't seem right and take appropriate action.
  17. Yes that was the part, assembly mechanism, I was expecting, the idea was more to see it fully in situ on the car, what's around it, to give an idea what might need to be removed or possibly just moved a bit, but to get it out and back in may take a lot more than the turning and lifting that I put. The door window glass holder and winder mechanisms on some cars, probably including Fabias, can be a right PITA sequence of tilt, turn, drop, lift, twist, point north whilst standing on one leg, procedure to get them through the gaps and obstructions at points seeming impossible unless you have the practice. However I have no idea if this is the case for the wiper mechanism or if the wipers need to be at rest position or service position to make it most compact to get out or if that matter at all. ETA: some jobs may include special tools (or using tools you have or making up or using stuff yourself in place of the special tool(s), again I've no idea if this might be the case for this job.
  18. Little bit of difference to wording from me, buy the correct part to application, the part that is fitted now could be an incorrect or inappropriate part replaced previously.
  19. Thanks. 😄 Screen devices don't seem to like the skin on my fingers plus my wonky eye can mean misalignment on a small screen. A few weeks back I spent ages trying to follow instructions whilst using the boss's (wife) phone, swipe this way press that, with more fails than success, then, just before my boiling point, she sez "perhaps it's the protective cover, I'll turn up the sensitivity for you." Grrrrrrr. 😄
  20. Ah, sorry I misunderstood completely without the added photo. I don't know so just going off your photo of one side of the linkage -the mounting with the Torx head screw if that can be removed (both ends?) clear of car body and wiper linkage, wires connector to motor disconnected, is there enough room to twist and angle the whole motor and mechanism forwards and upwards. There's a very purposeful cut-out(s) and fold to the metal under the windscreen does that help ort is it there to access something else. Usually I recommend taking photos in landscape orientation to get more info in but in this case a portrait orientation parallel to the mechanism might (or might not) get the whole length of both sides of the mechanism in the photo. Sorry I'm not much help at all you might need guidance from the car's workshop manual for this, which I don't have.
  21. Tony, I've no idea about with a "smart" (they're not) phone or other "smart" (they're not) portable device but on my PC if you put the cursor over Captain Sisko's name at top left corner of post you get a drop-down that shows he lasted visited the site 2 January (this year) so it was worth the go.
  22. Hi, welcome, Have a look online (YouTube perhaps) for hacks to use tools (and sometimes including a pound coin) to work as extraction devices or you can buy purpose made extraction tools. For work like this I prepare, as much in advance as possible, by spraying with some GT85, hold can upright, shake well before use, spray and leave to soak in as long as possible. GT85 is a good penetrating/releasing fluid and a good lubricant (longer lasting than WD-40 Multi-Use) and smells nice too. It was originally made by a British company before it was taken over by a large invasive American corporation - called WD-40 Company. - https://gt85.co.uk/ HTH.
  23. Doesn't that risk losing some information(?) if you want to send me the vectored pieces/bits(?) I can scan (look with human eyes) and see if I think anything has been lost or mixed up (corrupted?) not proof reading but an overall check and confirmation of success (or level of success) on an independent 'puter to the send receive ones. Plus I've got decades of experience of looking at, reading and referring to, 'Owner's Manuals'. 😁
  24. Zoom in on the skoda-parts photos and you can see the alternative brand names on the part (febi, topran (not on China one). https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/6u0919501b-dual-temperature-sensor-germany-9741.html https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/6u0919501b-dual-temperature-sensor-hella-41935.html https://cat.hella.com/opencat/opencat/en_MT/all/all/na/keywords.xhtml?result=1768067090118 https://cat.hella.com/opencat/opencat/en_MT/UNIVERSAL/all/na/2/6PT%20009%20107-421/comparisonList.xhtml https://cat.hella.com/opencat/opencat/en_MT/all/2/6PT%20009%20107-421/datasheet.xhtml
