I have recently purchased a columbus unit off forum member but he didn't have code.I used a site radiocodeking and within a very short while code came back.You just input radio serial number and thats it.Cost 7 or 9 quid but very happy with the service.Dont let a no code put you off if there isn't one.👍

Radiocodeking...just used this company .got reply with code in less than a minute.Radio working fine..

I have just purchased a Columbus off a member on here so thanks Mike and I can't believe how easy it was to obtain the 4 digit code as It wasn't known. Anyway my question is as pic below shows.A strange welcome screen that does not go off even though radio is working and will only go off if I either turn off and on or press radio button.Everything is working fine.Has anyone any ideas Thanks Carl

Just a simple question. Why do some units have columbus printed on the front along top and some don't.

Probably sorted now but I to took mine out last year and gave a good clean and a squirt of gt85..no further problems and a ten minute in and out job.

Cheers for the reply. On the Web there is a site where submitting serial number of VW rns510 the code can be passed on.I assume there will be a skoda site somewhere.I dId find one but it didn't recognise Columbus rns510 unless it goes by different name.

Am almost at the point of purchasing a unit off a member but we are both wanting to know if taking the faulty unit out of my car and putting replacement in will it work without a code.I am aware that the car remembers its original radio so code not required . If the code is not known how easy is it to get so that unit will work. Thanks Carl

Nail on the head..Been there and done that.

Haven't found anyone yet who would be able to sort it.The last guy I spoke to said it would be to costly to take circuit boards out and should just get aftermarket..trouble is I don't want to do that so at this time living with a faulty machine..at least mine does get 10 seconds of power before it goes off for 3 seconds then cycles 10 sec 3 sec..

Car shows etc seemed to have struggled to get going again after covid..before then i would try do at least one classic show a month and a run out upto Buttertubs and other places usually with my RS mates.My work now really doesn't let me do as much so personally I do the little shows near Skipton /Otley for example. Have never done any forum shows or runs out but have taken my Vrs to places like Harewood .I used to organise a good few runs out with fellow fast Ford mates such as Whitby / Humber Bridge / ,Lake District but after a while it became apparent no none else could be bothered to organise anything so sadly I stopped doing that..

..but never really on the Octavia site because in 7 years of ownership only just had to have a drop link replaced 2 month ago.Princely sum of ,£44.....the first car I have ever owned that I have ever seen over 100000 miles..Its my daily and owes me nothing.

This thread isn't about saying all his radios are faulty but more don't be like me and get sucked in by someone who is really good when you make enquiries re columbus rns510 and ultimately bought a reconditioned unit off him with a years warranty as long as security seal in place.My dealings with him....called Eric...were very good .The unit came and for 6 months has worked fine until now power fluctuates. .Went into ebay to message him to find his ID did not exist anymore and it was now alf2020...After sending at least 4 messages I finally got him to reply He said he wasn't Eric but strange how user ID had automatically changed to new one and my review at time of purchase is amongst his listing..Basically he is not going to honour the warranty as I have had the radio for in his words...half a year..all his current listings are exactly the same as when I bought.Again this isn't me saying stay away...just be careful what's on offer and make your own mind up.I have probably been unlucky with the one I bought....which I am trying to find someone to fix for me...

I will have a search in my local area at Skipton to find someone who might be able to look at it for me.

I certainly gave mine a good good spray because it did have a lot of resistance .but then some good flicks of the blades loosened up nicely.

Sorry for asking but have you tried to free the fan..I gave mine a bit of a brush out with detailing brush then a good dosing of gt85....worked absolutely fine since...obviously I am assuming the fan has stopped...cant comment on the rear demister though

Is that something that can be fixed.found a thread on a vw forum where someone resoldered lots of areas and si far so good. Just trying redex dpf cieaner...OK so far.

I feel like I speak on here more than I speak to my wife. Back in September due to looping issues I exchanged my columbus with a refurbished one off ebay.came with years warranty.For the last 6 months it has worked fine then suddenly now the radio screen will go off as well as sound but then come back.on again for anything like 5 secs to 20 secs then does the same again...it does this on all modes( reverse screen...sat nav screen) if I turn it off the clock goes in and out....I do not get the splashscreen.Soft reset and hard reset make no difference...Sent 2 messages via ebay to guy I bought it off but so far he hasn't replied. Has anyone else had this strange going on. I have had the unit out and disconnected but made no difference. Cheers Carl

First and foremost me and my lad had a great trip to the Daytona 500 and tried to enjoy the record February temps for Florida of 92 degrees for 4 days.. Anyway back to the dpf issue.. Its been 5 weeks since garage said it was sorted. Whilst away dpf light came on again but my colleague managed to clear it with a run.2 days ago came on again.Today was the day I was to take it for a blast but yesterday all the lights came on again...engine light glow plug etc...since I have been back from the States we have done no slow time runs and I have alot of the time tried to drive between 2000 2500 rpm because this issue is not good to have if we get called out during the night and have to drive a 50 mile round trip in limp mode.So what next..should I be looking at getting the filter cleaned...The car is great and suits our business but it is starting to wear me down.I keep getting told by some to get the dpf deleted but I would like it to pass its mot's. I will be back to the garage on Monday morning first and foremost. Cheers

Thanks for yor reply yet again..Been for a run to Preston on M65 today and eventually dpf light went off so will see how long it stays off.It doesn't do lots of stop start stuff because we are not town based but will give it a good blast once a week..Going off to States on Sunday ready for Daytona 500 so the superb can wait for its next blast till I get back. 👍
