  1. Got to say I'm not particularly keen on the Civic Tyre R (never have been really), not a fan of the shape nor that nothing happens below 5K rpm. It's odd that in general (note, I said in general so it doesn't apply to everyone!) Civics seem to be bought by more mature people and yet the Type R is aimed at the Playstation generation who probably can't afford it. Let's hope they sell enough to continue development of their new F1 engine and give Alonso another shot at the WDC.
  2. Well done Hamilton, had Rosberg off the line and never looked likely to concede the win thereafter. Nice to see both Williams drivers on the podium (also liked the way they just removed the red line to change the logo for this race). Let's hope they can continue this form for next year; their performance continuity from season to season has been patchy previously. And nice to see Suzie continuing her (sexy) school teacher look
  3. I just wish these manufacturers would stop putting such temptation in front of us. Life's expensive enough as it is without some fancy VAG / BMW / Merc product hoving seductively into view (particularly when draped in some cheapish PCP / finance offer). How can any of us be satisfied with our automotive lot?? I'm going to have to learn to avert my eyes! :peek:
  4. In theory I should have MirrorLink on my new Polo which I'm picking up on Wednesday. However, VW stopped offering it for a couple of months but it's now an option again. If it hasn't come from the factory with it, I'm hoping the dealer can activate it. As for whether it'll make factory sat-navs redundant, I'm not sure. For one, the application needs to be an approved application before it'll display on the head-unit and also the satellite reception might be better on a factory unit than on the phone. The Polo's I think were the first to have the new media systems (gen 2), hence why the Fabia is getting it. I think Golfs will get it next year, so I'd be surprised if the Octavia got it any sooner.
  5. Don't buy many Blu-rays but not had this problem even though we have a 5 year (or so) old Sony player. Maybe as the originator of blu-ray technology they future proofed their players?
  6. Firstly I'll mention that I'm not an expert, BUT having had issues with pop ups and browser hijacks in the past I've resolved them by finding where the virus files are located and manually deleting the folders. The following may help (taken from a Google groups page): To resolve the issue, please carry out the following steps carefully in the following order: 1. Uninstall suspicious programs from Control Panel Windows 8 users: Press Ctrl+X and select Control Panel > Programs and Features. Windows Vista/7 users: Click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features. Windows XP users: Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Programs and Features. Look for unwanted programs (especially ones with a similar name to the unwanted extension) and uninstall them. 2. Remove the unwanted extension from Google Chrome Click on the Menu icon at the top right of the browser (or the Wrench in outdated versions of Chrome) > Tools > Extensions. Tick the Developer Mode checkbox. Write down or save the ID of the unwanted extension shown below the extension title. 3. Remove the related registry entries Press the Windows Key+R and type “regedit” (without quotes). In the Registry Editor, select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE, then select Policies > Google > Chrome > ExtensionInstallForcelist. NB: If you cannot find ExtensionInstallForcelist in this place, try selecting HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE, then select Policies > Google > Chrome > ExtensionInstallForcelist. Remove the registry key which has a Data value the same as the extension's ID which you wrote down or saved above. Right click on the registry key and select Delete. Accept the warning by selecting Yes. 4. Remove the extension’s files Press the Windows Key+R and type: Windows Vista/7/8 users: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions Windows XP users: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions Find the folder with the ID of the extension and delete it. 5. Success! The extension should now be completely removed.
  7. Shame on YOU Brimma, for not reading the post correctly. I was simply trying to gauge the current market as per my opening post. The Octavia 2 forum was obviously the place to enquire about how buyers and sellers had found the market and where they had looked/advertised. :(
  8. Facelift A6 has 272 hp in mid-range DSG spec and only £130 a year to tax (155mph + 5.5 s 0-60 + mid 40's mpg). Big discounts too (22%) make them cheaper on PCP than you might think. Just go easy with the options list.
  9. Oh, I don't know, a nice beach scene is always welcome and then there'd be some bikini shots . . . . .
  10. And I'm not that keen on Herbert and Hill either. Brundle's fine though, just not as pleasing on the eye as Suzie
  11. That's an option, but I'm looking for the place where I'll get the most viewings, the best price and the quickest sale.
  12. I will shortly be looking to sell, so interested to know what the current market is like and where is the best place to advertise.
  13. For those that have been selling their vRS's recently (face-lifts in particular), how quick did you get a sale, how much interest did you get and where did you advertise? For those who have recently bought a vRS (particularly CR Estates) was there much choice available, did you find your car easily and what about prices?
  14. Yes. DtD puts you in touch with the supplying dealer and everything else is done through them. You give DtD a card number for a deposit (£500 or £1000) and the dealer takes the deposit, so you're not even giving any money to DtD directly. I'm awaiting the delivery of the third car we have ordered from them and it's a painless way of getting probably the cheapest deal on the car. The only issue is that you don't know where the supplying dealer will be, so you might have to travel some distance to collect the car (but DtD will give an indication over the phone of which part of the country the dealer is in before you place the order, then they confirm once you have ordered).
  15. I don't know when you ordered your Yeti, but if you had gone through DtD or similar, you would have waited 20, 30, 40 weeks? for delivery, so if you've not had too wait long you might consider the extra you've paid as a way of jumping the queue!
  16. I'm guessing the new RS4 should be powered by a 1.6 Turbo V6 hybrid. And I look forward to the tag line "fire up the quattro" being said around the F1 pits.
  17. That will definitely take F1 car interiors to a new level!
  18. Johann, the Golf Alltrack might be the better option in that case
  19. They may have been fitting them as standard at this stage, but make sure the clear foils are fitted to the doors to reduce/prevent paint blistering due to stone chipping.
  20. Interesting and informative write up, but why compare an Octavia vRS with an Audi RS6? They're completely different and are aimed at two totally different markets. If I could afford the sort of money an RS6 costs, then it would be very (very) high up on my list, but a vRS wouldn't even be on that list in the first place!
  21. Alonso has said he didn't think he'd be driving next year with a Mercedes powered car, so it's got to be McLaren. Delay must be to do with Ron Dennis. I wonder if Honda wants two ex WDC's to help launch their return to F1, so maybe JB will get a seat, but will have to take a pay cut and agree to be the number 2 driver? There seems to be some favourable noises coming out about the performance of the new Honda powerplant, but then you'd probably expect that, no matter how it's performing (running on 3 cylinders, going into limp home mode, excess oil consumption, won't hot start, etc, etc, - usual kind of things!!)
  22. 1973 Mk1 white Escort 1300 Sport (I owned it in 1981/2). It's the only car that I really regret selling. All the others were shifted usually to move on to a new car that was better/faster/more expensive, etc., etc.
  23. That's odd given that the Yeti 170 manual and DSG have the same towing capacity (2100 kg)! Even the Scout 150 manual has 2000 kg capacity. Although the brochure isn't out yet, the Golf Alltrack is said to have 2000kg towing capacity. Good to know that the Golf will get greater engine / transmission options (makes it even more appealing )
