  1. That may be the case, however from watching the video I don't feel certain. When a large zone re-illuminates after a car passes in the opposite direction, it seems to 'wipe' the light back on rather than just blinking back on. That seems odd to me if there are only 4 zones. From a headlight design point of view, why go to the bother? Is this zone thing documented somewhere ZacDaMan as far as you're aware?
  2. My last non-VAG car had the equivalents and I really miss them now.
  3. Thanks for that crop of images Silver. Some of those are very obviously different between the screen and the side windows. Is there some actual marking/logo on the screen too (e.g. to inform a replacement glass fitter who may be challenged in identifying it otherwise)?
  4. This is an example which to my eyes shows the greenish metalic tinge.
  5. Does the heated front screen look any different to an unheated one? I've seen various pictures of the Kodiaq some of which looked to have a slightly greenish metallic iridescent look to the screen which I'd assumed equated to it being the heated option. Can anyone confirm or deny please?
  6. We're getting off topic, but case in point the touch 'button' interface in current VWs. I can't accept that's better than the physical buttons in the Kodiaq. An example of new=worse in my book.
  7. Not always the case I don't think. After sitting in both a new Tiguan and a new Kodiaq I know which I'd rather be in (hint: not the Tiguan). To be fair to VW however, I'd also rather be in a previous generation Tiguan rather than the current one. I'm probably just getting old...
  8. I did indeed miss your point. What you describe seems absolutely feasible to me linni and I'll be very pleased if they do work that way when my new car finally turns up. I still maintain however that steering the light cone left and right is different to 'masking' parts of the main beam to avoid dazzle even if the technology to achieve both can be the same. Anyway, moving on...
  9. By the looks of it the TSI VRS is going to be quite common.
  10. With respect, I don't think you've ever experienced proper bending lights that swing the light cone left or right to match the direction the vehicle is turning. This is not the same as active matrix blanking out parts of the high beam to avoid dazzling, hence my question.
  11. I beg to differ. On an unlit twisty road it's quite useful IMHO.
  12. Is there any sign that the matrix lights "bend" to follow the steering? I'd understood that they didn't, but on a recent video of the Enyaq it looked like those did (at least to some extent).
  13. Makes you wonder how they can be planning build weeks when they still have so many unfinished cars still bunkered? Perhaps it has something to do with this 😁? https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/business-finance-and-corporate/skoda-ceo-thomas-schäfer-become-volkswagen-boss
  14. Sorry, not Skoda specific (again) however in later generations I often find materials frequently feel cheaper in pursuit of weight reduction. My father in law's 10 year old Ford C-Max feels like a luxury motor alongside my wife's 5 year old C-Max, but I know which is lighter (and gives better MPG). That's progress.
  15. My new bear is on it's way apparently, so can't wait to see what turns up. Yogi, what is your car's headlining made of please? Is it 'cloth' or alcantara?
  16. I've just been told my mid-August ordered car has left the factory, however I was never even given a build date. Went straight from 'not accepted by the factory' to 'built'. VRS but without any of the problem options like Canton or 360 cameras. This is way better than I was expecting and seems to have surprised the dealer too.
  17. I have no experience of the VAG system, but on the Ford equivalent pushing the stalk temporarily toggled between main beam and dipped (and vice versa). E.g. if the main was on and you were dazzling a pedestrian you could push it to toggle to dipped. After a few minutes it would revert to fully automatic and return to what the system felt was best. The Ford system had a standard "on" and a separate auto setting on the lights selector dial.
  18. Given the UK's 3 year 60K warranty it would certainly make me think long and hard about an extended warranty if I was aiming to keep longer than 3 years (which I always aim to).
  19. The irony is that I'm not bothered about the red stitching and in many ways would be happier with the more understated all black sportline look, however I am bothered about a mix of red and black. How daft is that! Must be my OCD coming out. 😁
  20. How old is the car our of interest?
  21. Given that the cap is at the eye of the storm so to speak, I don't imagine it would take very much friction to keep it in place? Re: red stitching Is there any correlation between heated vs non-heated steering on the VRS and stitching colour? Is yours heated Yogi?
  22. I take it you do have the red on the wheel Yogi?
  23. This current marketing shot appears to show a VRS with an all black steering wheel too I think. Change of spec I wonder?
  24. Interesting. I'm sure I've recently read about a facelift VRS already with a dealer that wasn't for sale as it was closed as a misbuild due to the steering wheel colour.
  25. Is it my screen, or is the stitching on the steering wheel black rather than red?
