  1. Suggest contacting a dealer to ask, giving them the VIN of the vehicle. But I've not heard of the option of activating AA - either the car has it or it doesn't. My Fabia didn't have wireless AA, so I bought AAWireless, which worked perfectly.
  2. Android Auto works wirelessly out of the box in my (second hand) 2021 SE L, so I'd be surprised if CarPlay shouldn't do the same in a newer, more highly-specced car.
  3. Hooray! Identified and fixed the rattle! It spent a day at the dealer, but they couldn't identify the source of the noise. They suggested that it might emanate from inside the dash, and since the warranty doesn't cover the cost of eradicating squeaks and rattles, I wasn't prepared to pay who knows how much to have the IP removed, taken apart and reinstalled. However, I'd noticed that the noise only became apparent at speeds above around 50mph, or when the weather was windy. This led me to think that it must be caused by the passage of air somewhere. Then I began to wonder about the under-engine tray - what if it was that which was flapping under the right/wrong conditions? Feeling under the car revealed that though the tray was securely attached front and back, at the back there was still sufficient play for it to knock against the car floor. Wedging the rear of the tray in place has cured the problem - at last! But I still don't know what that little flap inside the top of the bonnet is for...
  4. Thanks! I've found it. They don't make it easy, do they?...
  5. Thanks - I'll give it another try.
  6. Me too... But I've downloaded one of the workshop manuals available on this site, which has the following: I'm jiggered if I can find that button...
  7. Hi The manual says I need to find a button hidden inside the back of the front seat, in the centre towards the top, but I'm blowed if I can find it. Any tips? Thanks
  8. Had my 71 plate car just over a month. Mix of lots of short trips (<3 miles) and some motorway work, usually at around 63mph (just fast enough to pass the HGVs) - I'm retired so rarely in a rush. Relying on the trip computer, average over these weeks - around 1500 miles - has been about 53mpg. This may be of interest: https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/skoda/scala-2019/10-tsi-110
  9. But something like this may help if you want to go down that road: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/exclusive/76760/best-car-headlight-bulbs-2024
  10. Be aware there's a trade-off between bulb brightness and bulb life.
  11. This sounds ('scuse the pun) like the problem that led me to explore the function of a mystery flap under the bonnet of my Scala (https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/534869-mystery-flap-under-bonnet/) Same as you - irregular rattle/flapping noise becomes noticable when running 50-60mph+ , and in recent windy weather. That suggests to me it's caused by rushing air. Putting felt pads on the mystery flap didn't sort it, sadly. My car is used but new to me, so I've booked it in to the dealers for them to have a play with. I'll post updates if there are any. Maddening - in so many ways the car is really refined and quiet, at least compared to anything else I've owned. This noise spoils it somewhat, though having radio/podcast on will mostly drown it out.
  12. Thanks for the tip - but no joy. I didn't expect it to work, as the car was reset to factory settings before I took delivery, just a couple of weeks ago. But it's useful to know about if/when other things go awol. Mike
  13. A little more investigation revealed that the slider has no effect on lighting, and there is no menu for lighting levels in the Car/Settings/Lights menu. Curious... The car, though used, is new to me, and I will query this with the dealer.
  14. Thanks, I'll give that a try.
  15. Boo. Noise still there, but seems worse in windy conditions.
  16. Thanks - but it doesn't explain what that slider is for. My car doesn't have colour-adjustable ambient lighting - could it be that the slider works for that? Does anyone use the slider, and so know what it does?
  17. That's what I thought, but moving the slider doesn't appear to change anything.
  18. Hi Guys New (to me) late '21 plate Scala SEL. If I pull down the Control Centre, there's a slider at the top of the screen: Lights on, lights off, engine on, engine off, daytime, nighttime - moving it doesn't seem to make any difference to anything. What's it for? Cheers.
  19. Curiously, I find that if I use my right thumb on the handle to lock the doors, it doesn't always work. Pressing quite hard with a different finger seems more reliable, also using the passenger door seems better.
  20. Hi Thanks for your help with this. I've only had the car for a few days, so nothing is certain yet, but the noise was only evident on the motorway, say 50+ mph. I stuck on some felt pads, so it can still open and close, but not quite to the extent it did before. Trying not to get too excited - on the motorway today I couldn't hear the noise. Wouldn't it be nice if it were that simple? Time will tell. I'll report any updates as they occur. Cheers
  21. Thanks, Aldfort - but I'm pretty sure the flap is top-hinged at both ends; it only moves in the direction of being opened or closed. Mike
  22. Thanks, guys. I'm reluctant to take spanners etc. to the car at this stage, since I've only had it a few days, and it's under warranty for a year. As far as I can tell the flap is just hinged on its top edge, and doesn't seem to have fixings for springs or any other kind of control. I've been in touch with the dealer who sold it, and sent the same photo and video, so it will be interesing to see what they say. For now I've also put felt pads in a few places to mute the noise it makes when it opens or closes. I'll post an update if/when there is one.
