Fuse Box Under Bonnet Help
Yes, just looked that 50a is for heated windscreen which mine hasn’t got. Thinking about it, that spare 80a might be for connecting high load 12v stuff for converting them to emergency vehicles for example, or maybe it is a common fuse box for all VW group stuff including Porsche, Audi etc and it is easier for the robots to just make it with that 80a fuse. @AGFalco the stud doesn’t look connected, it doesn’t touch the fuse strip and looks like it needs the nut to make a connection.

Fuse Box Under Bonnet Help
Just updated my post above that apparently it is unassigned fuse 1.

Fuse Box Under Bonnet Help
My guess (and it is a guess 😬) is that it would be for some option like Heat Pump. Mine is a 60 sel and I can see there is an extra relay and 50a fuse in your fuse box compared to mine. Edit : Apparently it is fuse 1 and shown not assigned. I googled it at and it came up fuse 1 in the under bonnet fuse box is not used empty/spare.

Intelligent Octopus Go
Just to add, the OVO app is linked to the car in my case. It can control either the car or your charger depending on what is compatible. In my case my charger, which is a podpoint from 2021 is not compatible, but the car is. I’ve removed all schedules from the podpoint app and set it in “dumb, always on” mode. When I plug in, the car will usually immediately charge for a couple of minutes in which time the OVO app is working out how best (for them I presume) to do the rest of the charging to be ready for my requested time. It then pauses the charge and will charge as required to be ready in time. I work shifts with times that vary every day so I often alter the “ready by” time and it has always worked as expected. The only thing to ever check is that the max charge setting of the car is the same as the maximum setting in the OVO app. Good luck.

I’m using OVO charge anytime and it works absolutely seamlessly with my Elroq. I believe it’s maybe more expensive than octopus iog but it actually works and there was a 3 year offer of 10,000 miles per annum of free charging with VW group vehicles when I got the car last year. The OVO system is not tied to 0001 to 0700 or anything either, you set the app for the time you want and the level of charge and plug in.

Thinking about an Elroq, but...
I’m not convinced there is any advantage getting a heat pump over the normal system in the UK. It isn’t cold enough for the added cost and complexity to really pay off in my opinion. Winter weather will hit the range by about 25% in my experience, if you are able to get home charging you can mitigate this by preheating before you set off, likewise in the summer you can precool it with the aircon. Not sure on the packs, mine is out of the box SE L spec and I’m not missing anything. Apparently the matrix headlights are good.

SOS battery replacement - pretty easy to do yourself
Excellent work doing that job. I’ll start planning for my Elroq in 4 years time.

Skoda Elroq pedal vibration
It wouldn’t be the first Skoda to have the transport blocks left in place on the springs. Does it look like it is sitting too high ?

Minimum SOC for overnight stay?
Personally, I wouldn’t worry about an occasional trip or journey where you might have to leave it in a low state of charge. In the example you’ve given above I would charge to 100% at the IONITY and remove the following day issue.

Actual v estimated mileage and charger anxiety
Hi Dave. There is an amber battery warning light that comes on once the charge level is down to 20% but it isn’t for the 12 volt battery. It’s just to keep your attention drawn to the low state of charge. I’ve attached a photo with that lamp illuminated. The 12v warning light is a red battery symbol just like the battery/alternator warning on a traditional petrol or diesel car. If you’re sure it was the 12v lamp I’d get it checked as that would indicate a fault.

the truth about electric cars
100 years ago someone sat on a horse and cart saw a Model T Ford pull up and said something very similar.

the truth about electric cars
PS I’ve given you the truth about electric cars in that previous post, that is it 😀. The governments are just playing at it with what has been done so when Skegness is under water they can say “we tried but not enough people were interested.”

the truth about electric cars
That’s always going to be the case with technology. The batteries will improve like engines have. People still bought cars like Vauxhall Vivas in the 70’s and 20 years later the technology of vehicles was miles better. If your waiting for perfection it will be a long time coming.

the truth about electric cars
The OVO system is good, and I also got the OVO/vw group deal of 10,000 miles per year of EV charging for 3 years. Regarding the truth of electric cars - the truth is the government (whichever colour) don’t want mass take up of EVs, the tax hit would be absolutely enormous. It is being stifled by lack of infrastructure and high public charging costs . That is the truth. @Graham Butcher I accept that I’m lucky enough to fit into a niche that allows me to exploit what is available but it still amazes me that people who do way less mileage than me and rarely go further than 100 miles radius of their home (which could have a charger) are still happy to burn fuel and passively pay enormous sums of tax in fuel duty and vat.

the truth about electric cars
@Dieselgate I do apologise for my clumsy post, using your quote. I’ve dropped in and out of this thread and just saw it was the same old stuff being discussed . I’m using OVO charge anytime which for now (not much longer) is 7p per kWh. I didn’t analyse the peak rate cost because I was already on a fixed deal with OVO and that stays the same, the charge anytime is an add on to whatever tariff plan you are on and credits a month in arrears to bring the EV charge costs to 7p.

the truth about electric cars
Škoda Elroq 60. No issues getting 200 miles, in summer 250. I’ve only charged it to 100% a couple of times in the last 10,000 miles. 80% has been fine even in winter. This is what it is showing right now :
