  1. Seduced by two free services, I went for two years hire purchase, totally forgetting I have to pay half the loan before I can pay off the outstanding. Always had pcp finance, and paid off early, so a bit annoyed with myself. Still, roll on September.
  2. Sorted! Like you said, some areas turned off, so hit all areas and we have full ambient lighting.😀
  3. Only changed the colour, but will have another look to see if any parts can be set to go off when engine switched on.
  4. Noticed that the ambient lighting, in my Sportline, is all round on getting in car, but the sections behind the steering wheel (either side of steering column cowl), go off when I start the engine. Seems a bit odd to fit them, and then have them go off. Any thoughts?
  5. Are you using the Stop/Start? Both my Karoq and Octavia tend to switch off the engine when almost stopped (1.5 tsi with DSG). Have you tried driving with Stop/Start disabled?
  6. It is balanced by the chrome exhaust trim on the back, I suppose. I know on some of my previous cars forum members have plastic dipped badges and trim, so may be an option, but may not work with the cameo style front badge. It may end up looking like a Vauxhall badge, and that would never do!
  7. Near me is a dual carriageway, with a sharp bend to the left. Being in town, it is 40mph limit, with chevron signs on centre island to remind drivers where to go (some fail!). My radar picks up one of these signs, as it does appear to be ahead, but a second or less before following the turn. Frightened the life out of me, first time it did it, when in the Octavia, but the Karoq ignores it!
  8. Bridgestone Desert Duellers, on my old Lada Niva, were as good in snow as in sand. Having an easy run round the old West Wycombe off road course, but cooling off after rescuing a LR!
  9. Just to be different, my rear wiper is silent (unlike my old Octavia), but the fronts are both noisy!
  10. I use a faraday bag for my keyfob, and it has always worked fine. Today I was able to open boot, driver’s door and start engine. Arrived at destination, shut door and it would not lock. Checked pockets, in case key still in car, and found keyfob secure in faraday bag. I suppose I can only blame the bag (£5 Halfords special).🙄
  11. Have a look at post “Knocking on idle”, as one post (last one) mentions split hose on the part that had been identified as causing the knocking. It is the square with the white top.
  12. I get the warning notice, on first reversing out of garage, but just move gear lever to drive, then back to reverse, and all OK. Then front warning comes on (having closed garage door), and stays on until it is happy I am no longer manoeuvring, or I hit the X button to switch it off. Car under a year old, Sportline spec with DSG.
  13. Looks like someone borrowed it, before I bought the car! Another trip to the dealer 😀
  14. My 22 spec Sportline has had the umbrella deleted, along with torch and heated windscreen! I know which I would have preferred to stay.
  15. Nice of them to be helpful, but once done, the message should disappear on pressing OK, but does not. And, I did not want to zeros the trip, but that message came up. It is no problem using trip (not that I ever do), but don’t need to see that message all the time.
  16. Whole thing is crackers, as trip now showing back to zero, every time I try to get rid of message, so that is all it needs, but no, it’s just nag nag nag. Trip (ha ha) to the dealer on Friday.

On my Octavia, it came with variable service intervals, but I paid for two services, in advance. On a 3 year pcp, I would be handing back just the two services required. I was surprised to have both the dealer and Skoda phoning me to have it serviced at one year old. Also told that service intervals should have been changed to annual at PDI. Now have the Karoq, first registered last April, but on variable services - just waiting to see if I get any phone calls in April (2 free services as I am buying on old school Hire Purchase).
  18. Annoying that I only started pressing buttons because it asked me to. I didn’t want to zero the trip, as I never use it, and now stuck with the message. Luckily, I prefer a particular dash, and that does not show the message😀.
  19. One of my previous cars was a Subaru XV, and, on asking about a spare it seemed you had to place a special order for a factory fitted alteration to the floor. Even then, the luggage floor was balanced on top of the spare, which was full size, and steadied with rubber strips to hold level. If a space saver was obtained elsewhere, the spare had to go on the back - a right palaver if the puncture was a front tyre - like playing musical chairs!
  20. That works to reset trip to zero, but doesn’t get rid of message to press OK. Only appears on some of the options, so will stick with the ones it doesn’t, until I can nip in the dealer, and ask them.
  21. Yes, tried that. Handbook does not show trip in index, but found a bit about resetting trip in description and functions of virtual dash, and it does mention using scroll button, so will have another go, later on. Another oddity was that message showed in all but one of the screen options, and one also had warning of low oil temperature - not surprising as just started from cold!
  22. For no apparent reason, I had a “please reset trip and press and hold OK” message on start up. Did as requested, via infotainment, and trip reset to zero, BUT the message won’t go away, as I have not pressed, and held, the OK. Where is the OK button???
  23. Just realised, on reading this thread, that I gave away my spare, and tools, when I traded in my Octavia for my Karoq. Then paid for a new spare and tools for the Karoq! 🙄
  24. I think that the reason dealers are still putting high prices on used cars, is because most people will not realise prices are dropping, and are prepared to pay the asking price. A bit like house prices locally to me. Sellers are putting high prices on their houses, “as mine is the same as theirs”, but you need to see the actual selling price. Two on my estate were up for £300k, but sold for £280k, however houses here are still going up for sale at £300k.
