  1. I have a new one, and can change to any of half a dozen displays, including speedo and Rev counter dials. Right hand steering wheel controls - press lower right button to scroll through the different views. Yet to try the sat nav.
  2. On start up, and putting in reverse, I cannot see the reverse camera picture, as the screen is obscured by clock, driver I.D. Screen and one of those repetitive messages. Until they clear, I have to use mirrors to reverse out of garage. Only happens on cold start up, and not repeated again during the day. May be a trip back to dealer at 200 miles from new.☹️
  3. My 68 reg Octavia 1.5 tsi with DSG was faster than my new Karoq, both driving it and on paper (Octavia just under 9 sec O-62, Karoq just over 9 sec), but nothing to make any real difference. As I have only done 156 miles, everything is still tight and new, and handbook says keep calm till at least 1000km, then build up from there. Have had a mix of low and high seated cars and vans, and you just can’t throw a Karoq round like an Octavia - or can you???😀
  4. I got an update yesterday, which downloaded OK (PayPal update). Unless I have been automatically joined into Skoda Connect, (new car), I haven’t joined.

Thanks Chris. Actually, sorted by a neighbour’s kid, who was looking at the car as “my dad’s got a white one”, and I was going to ask his dad, when the kid knew all about everything. Don’t they all!😂

Right, having just got my Karoq, I have a need to fiddle with some settings. The paper handbook refers me to the electronic manuals on the screen. I have found the instructions to open the Control Centre, but cannot find the place on the screen to activate it. Also, which may be connected, my hand wave response is very hit and miss. Where am I going wrong, please???
  7. Just changed from Octavia to Karoq, so lots of new stuff to learn!!
  8. My Octavia made a grumbling sound, but only when set at 20 to 24 degrees. No grumbling outside of those temps. Seemed as if it didn’t know whether to blow faster or not, as if fan starting and stopping continually. Not noticed it on my Karoq, but only had it two days!

Just picked up my Sportline 1.5 pre-reg on 23 plate. Got a great deal, trading in my Octavia estate, and well happy. A few extra packs fitted and two free services clinched it. Oh, yes, and that fabulous colour!
  10. I have this on mine, which it had done from new. My noise comes from the handbrake, and is not there if I put gear in Park (auto) and leave handbrake off. I would try parking with car in gear (if manual), but with handbrake off, to see if still creaks.
  11. Is it definitely from to be front? Mine creaks from the rear, but only if handbrake is on (old school manual type). If I put in Park, and leave handbrake off, no creaks. Never bothered to get it checked and now nearly 5 years old.
  12. Not particularly bothered with actual time to 60 (or 62), but just interested as to what difference putting into S mode would make , or whether stated figure related to D or S. I like chatting with the “Corsa Kiddies”, who congregate on our local park, and they seem impressed that Skoda make an estate with a “go faster switch”!
  13. What Car magazine has 0 - 60 for the 1.5 petrol turbo as 8.6 seconds (or there about). Is this the figure for the standard model without the Eco/Normal/Sport pack, so is the figure different in Sport mode? Must say, Sport mode on mine scares me sometimes (but I am old 😂)!
  14. Is the gear lever going fully forward, or is it hitting up against the surrounding trim? I had this on a Jeep, and over time it got so bad that even the ignition key release would not work. Dealer ordered a new cable, but found it was the trim that had “shifted”, and was stopping the gear level making full movement. A bit of adjustment of the centre console and all good again, still with old cable.
  15. Well, all sorted. Pipe from turbo had come off, forced air had nowhere to go but into atmosphere, so sensors put engine into limp mode. Dealer refitted hose, cleared fault codes and test drove - all good. Best part - no charge!😀 Can’t beat Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield.
  16. At dealer now, so hope to have a diagnosis soon. Plugs replaced last dealer service, in December. Supermarket fuel, so who knows what’s in it! I don’t use the premium stuff, just the regular.
  17. Yes, so many things to go wrong! Will get it to local dealer, but warranty with supplying dealer, so may have to do some negotiation to get it done locally.
  18. As I was driving on a dual carriageway, overtaking a long fairground wagon, trailer and caravan, an emergency vehicle on blues came up behind me. I put my foot down to pass the wagon, and pull in front, when I heard an odd noise, and lost power. Managed to pull onto a side road, and car now drives like a 1950s 1500, rather than it should. Is this limp mode? Seems like the turbo is no longer working. No oil smoke, nor any sign of anything come off, looking under bonnet. No entries on the info screen for sensors. 1.5 turbo petrol DSG, nearly 5 years old, but under 20k miles. I do have an extended warranty, but full of loopholes and get outs, so fingers crossed.
  19. Thanks for that. My old driving instructor would have had kittens, if I put the gearbox in neutral and coasted (also “illegal”, if I remember that far back!). I suppose in auto, just touching a pedal brings it all back under driver control, better than a manual. Nice fuel saver, with engine in two cylinder mode as well.
  20. On my 2018 TSI DSG, all gears show in the tell tale on the dash, but when in Eco, and going downhill or slowing for junctions, the gear number is missing, with just E showing. Does this mean the gearbox is in neutral and coasting? Does not happen with D or S, where the gear number still shows.
  21. My Subaru, owned 2015 to 2019, regularly lost signal of “minor” channels, including my favourite Planet Rock! It was especially bad within half a mile of Kings Mill hospital in Mansfield, which I mistakenly blamed on the multiple aerials on their roof. I later found it was more widespread. The Octavia (2018 model) has duplicated the dead spots, BUT, it always picks up BBC 2, with no drop out at all, anywhere. Worth trying BBC stations, for comparison, perhaps?
  22. Thanks for that. Halfords were no use, and none in the store, anyway! Should be able to get a suitable one from Argos, tomorrow.
  23. At last service, I was advised that my car battery needs reconditioning, and I need to just put it on charge occasionally. This is mainly due to frequent short trips, and battery not getting a good charge. So, to get a charger suitable for stop/start battery, I also need to know AH capacity of battery, so as to buy the right output version. Short of taking battery out, as all info on side, anyone able to guide me, please. 1.5 petrol turbo with twin clutch auto box and virtually every electric operated extra fitted (dealer special!).
  24. As an add in, when mine was serviced recently, (3 years but 13000 miles), I was told it was due gearbox oil change. Of all the work done, including recharge of aircon and brake fluid change, no mention of gearbox oil on bill. So many cars and so many different servicing schedules, probably easy for “front of house” to get wrong. As long as the technician gets it right!
  25. Well, after a wet week, with some salt laid down by council (!), I can say that the car is definitely driving way better than before it went in. If anyone wants to try the updated software, mine was upgraded from version 6084 to version 9692. This is for 1.5 TSI with DSG. for info, I am 71, and have driven all sorts of motors, for over 50 years, and this is the first car I have had that I haven’t had to work hard to spin up the wheels. 😂
