Riddle me this riddle me that.....
I have a H reg Octavia First Skoda and i love her. But ..... perhaps a guru can help me out here. While fishing for some dropped change beside the drivers seat I noticed a little function button never seen before on the lower part of the B pillar pretty much hidden by the seatbelt which is about 1cm square, Does anyone have any clue as to its function... Burning too much coolant....?
Hi All Have a 2014 Octavia. Every couple of months I find the need to top up coolant (50% water \ 50% coolant). As best i can tell there are no leaks ie puddles on the floor. Anyone out there that knows about such things consider this is a bit too much as i do appreciate the purpose of coolant is to cool a very hot engine so some evaporation is to be expected. Thoughts ..? Kr P

Locking wheel nut key help !
The original key as shredded the Ebay supplier has given me a part that fits. The Bolt head on the drivers side is also toast so yes im investing in a set of those removal type socket heads and a breaker bar. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385267084223?hash=item59b3b52bbf:g:dLwAAOSwe8xjiFL9&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8I88YgKm5UUqqN4E2JwVq%2B%2BrccjEcgU0lAJcH0mbsmkmdc3W91efVWWb1NKQVhalDdSLg2BED3G0kdMqPqLQ%2Fbcblo61Txa%2F8qoADchBnWILPR5IQn1F0Icy53pGNqRiWcvBW%2F3D7DS6Beexs0ps60CrhKcalJ1RhFv%2BhcOngy8BU5efTnd6u%2FXLapkArjflLUgdod3pfEWMKwYquLsse1P4YbJj4WzGM%2BUxTfJVgfUWJkzX1hHdKhtur5kfIFrRo3BuK9aQXNLtKOqp8dzUaWg9L%2F9x%2FNM4mlscvI8%2B6j9G3txM%2F4CA5%2F%2FOU%2F9vIxZ4zw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBMhI-zvadh

Replacement Wheel Bolts
Either way based on a quick YouTube search Locking Nuts appear to be just a deterrent and can be removed quickly and easily with just a couple of tools. I'm having visions of being stuck on the M25 trying to force my own wheel off and needing the AA to sort a stupid problem.

Replacement Wheel Bolts
Hi All Been having an utter disaster with my Locking Wheel Bolts, where one of them is on so tight my mechanic stripped the pattern from the inside of the removal key. I have sourced a replacement that fits however I've just checked the head of the Locking bolt itself which is also mush. Oh Joy... Car is Skoda Octavia Elegance Tsi (2014) HJ14 VDD I've had enough with the locking nuts and will remove them i think after all does anyone nick alloys anymore ..?? So I'm going to replace all the bolts all round can anyone advise if the below are suitable a suitable fit. Like them in a nice chrome finish. https://www.autodoc.co.uk/scc-fahrzeugtechnik/19116553 Any other \ better thoughts always welcome. Kr Paul

Should I buy a Yeti With Issues .....

Should I buy a Yeti With Issues .....
Ha simple not a lot left to spend on a car now after continually trying to keep my wifes X-Trail road worthy. I'm just looking and checking out a potential bargain TBH. Based on the pics there is a raft of dealer service stamps I'm not sure if I'm correct but these days millage isn't a biggie as a well maintained engine will keep ticking until you get bored with the car. Plus my missus is only going to be doing really local drives with the occasional trip to my parents which is a bit more of a haul. Re the actual fault code as yet i don't have that. I have done a little digging (and I'm no mechanic) but it COULD be the Camshaft Sensor itself {or i suppose the actual Crankshaft]}.... Kr Paul

Should I buy a Yeti With Issues .....
Hi All I have an Octavia and love it.. At the moment my wife has a Nissan X-Trail its been a bad buy from the off with problem after problem after problem after problem. So we are skipping it. Looking around on Autotrader i saw a 2010 1.8 TSi SE 4WD Yetti with 100k on the clock for £2995. Obviously alarm bells are now ringing because of the rock bottom price. I called them up and it does indeed have an issue with these symptoms. The Engine always starts however the key needs to be held for longer. There is a fault code (being sent through) relating to the crankshaft. If the fault is cleared then (as i understand it) the key does not need to be held for longer and the engine fires as it should. However if the fault code is cleared the engine started and the car driven then switched off, The next time you attempt to start it it will lag again. The Cambelt \ timing belt was replaced but this has not resolved. Any thoughts... Kr Paul

Locking wheel nut key help !
Hi All After a recent failed MOT (Shock replacement) I called my Mechanic out to make the swap. As usual passed the Locking wheel nut key over. When he came to use it, we found it wouldn't seat correctly in to the locking wheel bolt. Upon inspection all the splines within it have been either broken or burred over; we assume the garage have over torqued it to the point of destruction. any idea if \ where i can find a replacement and which would fit ..? Audi Throttle modification in VCDS
Hi All I have a 2014 1.4 TSi Octavia Saloon (Petrol) with the DSG gearbox. So as per the title speaking to a friend who knows knows about such things, I'm told there is a modification that can be made to improve the throttle response. This is to change a setting from VM\Skoda to Audi (which changes response to a linear response vs the default non-linear) (yet in reading around some say it makes no difference at all; while others say it makes a significant difference...?) https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/448365-audi-throttle-response/?tab=comments#comment-5041567 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ryZps0JWiI In places some say there are also 2 modifications to be applied... Based on the YouTube link it indicates that both need to be applied.... Was thinking about a PedalBox and may still do it but insurance is being a pain. Can anyone out there advise, What the settings are for these 2 config modifications and what does each do. Is there any eventual proof of the before and after stats anywhere as I've not seen any..? Id be really interested to hear from anyone who has made these changes and finding out there experience. Not looking for a race car, just something to get off the mark and out of junctions etc a bit faster. Kr Paul

First tuning thoughts..... ??
Hi All Just spoke to my insurance (Admiral) and a PedalBox falls under a transmition change. Listed with them as 3 types Remap Replace ShortShift \ QuickShift The first 2 are not covered the third is just a £25 admin fee... I'm not sure what a short shift is but from what I've read a Pedal box basically changes gears faster (so giving better acceleration) and would therefor be a Quick shift ..????? As mentioned happy with the cars power for me at higher speeds but would like some better acceleration between 0-30 .. So I'm assuming this would give a better 0-60 ..? P

Thinking of Powder coating my Rims...
Hi All I have a black Octavia. Just had a Limo tint added to the rear passenger windows rear quarter lights and rear screen. Considering changing the rims from silver to something darker (perhaps like an Anthracite Grey...?) Any pics out there of a black Octy with powder coted rims to help me make up my mind ! Cheers P
