  1. Upgrade number 3: Cruise control and maxidot instrument cluster! this one was a trip to Eddie-NL with the right parts and asking lots of annoying questions while he worked on my car. It is worth the trip to his place, trust me. For the cruise control, i had to find the stalks that had the cruise buttons on the left side (lots of basic ones, a bit hard to find). About £40 off ebay. With that, there's some wires to pull to the bcm, then 1 wire to pull through to the engine bay and into the ecu. This requires cutting a slot into the anti tampering bolds that hold the ecu in place. for the maxidot, ideally there should be found a similar year donor car. I found a much newer one (very late 2014, one of the last ones) and unfortunately the mileage forever flashes on the screen. I then found a 2011 cluster and it would only take 32 bit immobiliser keys, instead of the 64 ones i have. So, find the exact year if possible
  2. Upgrade number one: Led headlights. Philips ultinon 9000 pro and some bent brackets and they're in! Pros: no resistor needed Night and day difference to the light output No more burnt bulbs. Saved roughly 4 sets in a year now Cons: Need to find a friendly mot tester or buy new brackets to fit normal bulbs. In winter when the roads get salted glare becomes a bit much. Ideally there will be a window cleaner spray and a rubber wiper in the boot to use daily. Reaching for the little switch inside the lens to turn them for europe driving is nearly impossible with them on, and removing/refitting them is a 30 minute job easily.. Upgrade number 2: Led number plate lights, led front position lights, led interior, glove box, boot lights. This one is more a trip to the Halfords car park than anything really. You'll need the halfords advanced led stuff as the normal ones are completely rubbish. 4x w5w bulbs, 2 for side lights, 1 for glove box, 1 for boot light. They will NOT fit in the ceiling lens unfortunately, for those you need to find some philips ones with a diffuser on amazon. Lastly, 4x 239 c5w halfords advanced bulbs. They don't really have any other size so contacts will need to be bent around a bit. Number plate lights can be pried open from the left side with a screwdriver and something to protect the paint, then with lots of swearing, the bulbs eventually fit right in and it will all be worth it
  3. I'll be making this thread to keep track of what has been done, offer some part numbers wherever possible and ideally guide whoever else decides to go through with some retrofits on their own car. Photos will follow, although i seem to be limited to 114kb of media right now
  4. @Eddie-NLis your guy From a recent retrofit adventure, it seems there is a rubber seal directly under the wipers motor. That can be used to pull more wires through. Alternatively, the hole for the bonnet release cable is a good candidate, and is right next to the ecu
  5. Does anyone have the pinout for the 4 window version of the window switch? It goes from 4 pins (2 windows) to 10 pins and different connector. I'm mostly looking to move the pins to the new switch after cutting the door card. A retrofit is coming soon..
  6. First price is obscene, and i already have the most likely good one for that door. Rear left is a gamble i took for £18, and i seem to have the listing you linked on the watchlist as a backup. I messaged all sellers watchlisted and ones i bought from for the missing pair and no luck so far
  7. Thanks! It seems impossible to find actual skoda fabia rear motors right now. I got an offer for a vw polo rear left for £18 and a skoda roomster for rear right. Connectors will be made from scratch and all the wiring routed through the door connectors. Worst case, i keep buying motors..
  8. Hi! Sorry to revive an old topic. Did you match the part number revision numbers in the front and rear motors? Also, did you buy motors stripped from skoda cars specifically? Or would vw polo ones fit?
  9. What adapter did you buy? It MUST include a canbus adapter, either for no buttons on steering wheel or with buttons on steering wheel. Should be a black box thingy with a sticker that says canbus, maybe a little status led inside too. If it doesn't, i would return whatever adapter halfrauds gave you and call a few car audio shops. Key words: skoda, aftermarket radio, wiring adapter canbus. If they're worth their salt they will sell you exactly the wiring loom need for about £20-30. Plus a fascia for £15-20 as well
  10. Hi. Happy to help around if needed. Northwood / west london = @Athrx = HEX-V2
  11. Yep, exactly what i'm doing. It's about 60-70 miles more before the needle even moves. Theoretically i can do london-leeds at 55-60mph and still arrive with a "full" tank like that. About e10, i was forced to fill up twice in a row with texaco ****, and pay £3.25 for a redbull on top of everything during one of the fuel freakouts. Immediately noticeable as it was revving a lot higher up hills in a well established commute. I'm talking from 7'th to 6'th at 55 vs 7'th to 4'th, nearly double the revs and a turbo screaming
  12. My 1.2tsi does 450 miles on e5 and 320 miles on e10. Both brimmed from warning light (52-55 litres, in a 45 litres tank, ha). E5 from tesco is cheap enough that it's only £3-4 more per tank. I am not a very economic driver, but do about 80% motorway and 20% ragging it on the back roads. It might help giving it the good old italian tune-up after you get the oil changed. Also, what tires are you on? And at what pressures?
  13. Found the serial number, ebay sends me to throttle body components.. I just popped in to halfrauds and asked them about their hoses. Ended up with a fuel line? It fits, although it's a bit tight to push it all the way on either side, so i assume it's tight enough. Now on to the 2h+ traffic towards home to test drive
  14. Seems to go from the intake after filter, to engine, to some other place and the long way to a big drum behind steering wheel. Car seems to lack power for a moment if i slow down to 5mph and then accelerate slowly (basically, in traffic) before it suddenly gains power a second too late. Goes fine if i floor it. Just had some free time and finally traced a slight hissing sound to that hose to discover it's cracked behind. I have no idea what to even ask for at a garage 1.2tsi, 7 speed dsg, 2013
  15. Mine seems to have been replaced entirely. I got 1 receipt in the car for replacement mechatronic and mechanic said that gearbox is painted black + scratched on a new serial number, meaning replaced as well. I'll have a look in the yeti section
  16. Bingo! Thank you! Now if only someone within 100 miles would touch a dsg..
  17. Hi everyone, my fabia developed a gearbox leak over the last few months. At first i was told that if i refill once or twice a year i should keep this car functional for a long time, but now, just 3 months later, it's throwing fault codes and putting me in neutral (after it was refilled once and looked over). Only code i could catch live is: P0801"transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch "A" circuit range/performance" All with flashing "D" on dash and no drive for 10 seconds. Now, i would like to fix this as a grenaded gearbox will write off this car, however i can't find the part number for the leaking seal anywhere? Closest thing i can find is loads of refurb kits on ebay for the mechatronic at £150 for seals or £300+ for the accumulator housing, that does seem to contain a similar seal. Any help is much appreciated, thank you.
  18. Hi. Out of boredom, i started to read the manual for my aftermarket radio and realised the reason night mode does not work on it is because it's hardwired into the dimmer function. That's an orange/white wire that goes into the first adapter then connects to nothing. Now, on my facelift fabia, there's only 8 speaker wires, constant voltage, ground, can +/- and that security wire thing. Closest wire that does something when headlights come on is the rear demister button. My question is, has anyone tried it before? Does it work tapping into the backlight of a button?
  19. There's only one right type of spark plugs for this engine
  20. 3 wheels same size, 1 smaller on front left hand side. Need to mention that it was some chinese crap as well, so traction in the winter constant wet weather wasn't particularly great @roottooti did not really notice until it was time to change them for the first time since car's purchase. websites + fuel cap were telling me different numbers from what i happened to check (the odd one). Now i learned at least.
  21. All fabia airbags, including up to skoda fabia mk4, look oddly identical. Taking the airbag out and trying it on the new steering wheel is a 15 minute job, just remember not to reconnect battery until airbag is back in place and connected to car, or it will pop up a light on the dash that does not go away. Try and report back. Looking for such an upgrade myself too
  22. You sure you got the numbers right? On mine, for 15 inch rims allowed sizes are 195/55 and 185/60. For 16 inch it does have 195/50 however. Oh and, regarding abs. I ran in the winter one 185/55 with 195/55 on fronts and everything is okay until you need to brake or turn with the smaller wheel on the outside. Traction control becomes very trigger happy in these situations
  23. 64mpg on my 1.2tsi using e5, 200 mile trip on m1 between 65-75mph. For petrol that's pretty damn good Tried e10 now and i'm happy to see anything over 40mpg. Saved £2 at the pump, spent 10x that in worse economy
  24. But that's mechatronic / power steering fluid. I was asking about the gearbox oil that the mechatronic attaches to. I think i found it
  25. Well, the colour suggests it's gearbox oil, the screenshots posted somewhere above show yellow for gearbox and green for mechatronic. So far i think i'll give it a driveway top up and a look under. A mate has the right pump and hose for the bottom plug. Just need to find the right oil part number now..
