  1. I thought so, thanks Gizmo. Could this possibly be due to failed turbo seals, as well? Also, would the sticky vane problem cause leakage? Thanks though, you've just won me an argument at work
  2. Diesel, would that cause the blue smoke? I didn't realise that unburnt diesel would cause blue smoke, I thought it was just motor oil...
  3. Yeah, unfortunately this is a common tale. Good luck
  4. Yeah, I was expecting a Word document as an attachment. Still, if anyone does have any jobs going I've got my CV to hand...
  5. If you're spinning in third you need to fit some better tyres... Even a remapped 20vT won't produce as much torque as (I think) a standard 130bhp 1.9/140bhp 2.0 derv or (certainly) a remapped one, and I've not heard any issues from other users. Yes, they have traction control (usually) but still, spinning in third would cause their TC to work overtime.
  6. Ah ha! So I did confuse you! Mission accomplished! Seriously though, I think the OP thinks the Felicia has the same size badges as the Superb. I was in the process of replying with the "Superbs have the largest badges" when I realised that all I know is that the Superb has bigger badges than the Octy. Then I just typed out my thought process in an effort to confuse you all, thus.
  7. Yeah, sorry I was getting this confused with another post... I meant has he checked the wiring in the rear door as oppsed to the mirror in my other post. To me "no communication" could mean a broken or damaged wire and they all run through that rubber boot near the door hinge. Apologies!
  8. I'll pull my finger out then! As for 180k on one pair of gaiters, I definitely wouldn't moan at that! EDIT: I've just realised I've missed a prime opportunity by ignoring the "I guess I'm just special" comment. For this I apologise.
  9. I thought the Superb's were bigger (at least, then an Octavia's) Although perhaps it's more correct to say the Octavia has smaller badges than the Superb... but then that's not a Felicia... and maybe the badges on there are bigger then the Superb... or the Octy... or maybe smaller? You all get that?
  10. Yeah, think it does... as does iTunes, Winamp, etc etc
  11. Ha ha. I couldn't have been more wrong. Thanks
  12. Yep, I agree. I find it very forgiving... although I do take Duffelcoat's comment about the system kicking in over bumps. There's a dip in the road on the exit of one of the roundabouts on the A45 which catches me out every day. I'm not quite sure how I forget about it so often. Must be getting old. Curse it!:mad:
  13. Switchable in the sense that you couldn't switch it off. It was a really aggressive system with a hard cut, which was exasperated by the lack of a switch.
  14. Hmm. I don't think this is affected by the issue which the 4th gan Nano and 2nd gen Touch has, so you should be able to use the older (and cheaper) iPod head units. However to test that I'd take your iPod into Halfords - you don't have the buy the unit from us, obviously, and that's not my point - but stores do have iPod head units installed and working in such a way you can plug your iPod into it. If it works, it hasn't got the issue, and you can use any of the iPod head units currently made (for that money I'd recommend one of the Alpine digital media receivers although they look a bit, er, odd)... if it doesn't then I'm afraid you may struggle for a complete iPod solution at the moment.
  15. I meant the wiring to the mirror, not the wiring under the carpet...
  16. Oh yes. The 2.2 Vec I had was like that and it wasn't switchable  Anyway, :+1: for the Superb's TC, it's very good.
  17. No, you need to burn the CD as an audio CD. As in, the type that'll play in a home HI-FI. The Superb's standard radio (usually Symphony) isn't MP3 compatible.
  18. It's my fav cause of interior problems... but... I'm assuming you've done the obvious thing and checked the wiring?
  19. Yeah, Sprayduster ftw. This is the stuff I was referring to, worked a treat in my old Mk2 Golf: Halfords Electrical Contact Cleaner from Halfords Price £3.99 Extra 10% Off Everything*
  20. I managed it as well, until recently The Passat Sport probably has my vote as they're more "readily" available than S6's in scrap yards, cheaper, and more to the point half leather. I'm one of these people that thinks that whilst leather is really nice it's lacking in practicality.
  21. Sorry, I've no pic - but I'm sure this is on the lower rad hose, or there abouts. That said I've no factual basis for that opinion... Lummox? Care to confirm and put me out of my misery?
  22. No, really. Three feet. Honest. In all seriousness, if you changed your gaiters now you're getting about 76k/set and I'm assuming there's no sign of them wearing out any time soon. I don't think that's too excessive  It seems to be a bit random as to how quick people's gaiters wear, with perhaps the obvious exception of Superbia. I know Supacabby doesn't currently run a Superb, but how about you other taxi folk? Taxi-219, for example?
  23. Uh. I've 10k more than a taxi. That's depressing :(
  24. You do that. You're one of these people that write in to Wogan on Radio 2 in the mornings, aren't you, Mr Hella Goode*. Seriously though, I know you're right but that doesn't stop people modding. It's odd to speak of things in terms of "how illigal" they are, but I think this is one of those - there's bigger fish to fry and all that. Of course, doesn't stop it being illegal. That said of course, wonder if the average bobby would be able to tell if a subtly modded rear lamp would technically be illigal - and as for E-markings, I've run non E-marked sidelamps for two years and I've passed two MOT's. * This will perhaps only mean anything to those who know Baker and listen to Terry Wogan in the morning on R2. Which is probably only me. Boo. Still, it made me laugh
