Doug's Race Blue VRS wagon
Ignore the above! I've managed to get the other 3 sorted, it was very easy and didn't even need to take the wheels off! The original cap fascias are held on with a blob of silicone. I ended up levering one side of the old fascia up and being able to pull the cap off the alloy. Once I took the old fascia off the cap itself, I cleaned it up with brake cleaner and let it dry. Luckily because I bought some of the cheapest on eBay all of them were not stuck down properly. Although they have double sided on the back of all of the fascia because they are domed the only bit that sticks is the edges. If I did it again I'd add some silicone for added security. I got some photos but I am guessing due to forum limits I seem to have run out of space to upload.

Doug's Race Blue VRS wagon
I ended up pulling one original wheel cap today off today, measuring the clips at the back. 53mm, the aftermarket ones are 52mm. I did leave the aftermarket ones in the garage in the sun and after checking them they were not stuck down properly. I managed to peel one off very easily. Eventually got the knackered fascia off the original wheel cap and stuck the new fascia on and it's worked! I'll get the rest done tomorrow, not bad for a £8.

Doug's Race Blue VRS wagon
Went up to Goodwood and took the VRS (LOUD NOISES!) it was pretty epic, spoke to the guys as Racingline too about remaps, though that'll have to wait. VRS did great, 440 mile round trip in comfort and got 38 mile per gallon. The petrol DSG combo always surprises me at its flexibility and the car did really well. Decided to treat it to a new set of 4d plates and wheel Caps. Annoyingly the caps don't fit, what are the 19" Extreme cap size? I thought it was 56mm but they seemed really loose. Next up will be a DSG service as its not far off 85k (supposedly done at 82k before purchasing but no proof) and was last done at 42k.

Took the VRS for a proper alignment at a trusted tyre shop, they sorted the front but couldn't do anything about the rear due to being seized. Apparently a common problem, probably going to sort it with some polybushes from Problem Solving Bushes.

Liking the rear with the spacers but I always think 15mm at the front looks too much... I'm thinking 12mm front and 20mm rear. Discs look great, mine are also knackered and need changing. Definitely freshens up the look and probably brakes better?

Rear camber/toe bolt adjustment question
After a bit more research, other options include Superpro bushes (similar to Powerflex) which are about the same cost as Powerflex, PSB bushes (Problem Solving Bushes) which are cheaper polybushes (£40 to Powerflex's £75) or replacement OE bushes from motorfactors.

Want to hear a funny story, probably not.
The mechanic at the garage I use did the same with my mk6 GTi. Without checking the wheelnuts he searched for the locking wheel nut and rang me when he couldn't find it. That's when I realised I probably should have told them I removed them!

Wheel Spacers on Non-Lowered Car
Been debating this for a long Time. I have 19s and although going to 235 profile tyres I think has helped the rear is still too inboard for my liking. If you speak to anyone who drives their car, especially on track they will tell you it'll ruin handling due to increasing scrub radius, etc. I'm never pushing my car that hard to worry. Most put 15mm front and 20mm rear and this brings it more in line, however a few photos I have seen make it look too much up front still. Ive debated putting a mixture of sizes but anything less than 12mm on a hubcentric won't work due to the spigot depth I believe. I think 12mm front and 15mm rear would make it look right without looking like you have gone for the super stanced look. Have a look at the thread below, there is a blue VRS without lowering springs on the 15mm/20mm setup and it looks too much up front.

Rear camber/toe bolt adjustment question
After a bit of research Powerflex do replacement bushes with stainless sleeves for around £75. I'm going to get a mechanic mate to have a look and see if it can't be sorted out with a bit of persuasion. Seems wasteful to have to replace 2 whole metal arms for a bit of corrosion!

Idle occasionally rough - reset throttle body?
Interestingly I think I occasionally get the same. Doesn't always do it after first start, sometimes after a bit of driving but often when I switch to neutral at lights it feels like it's misfiring slightly. Is that what you are getting?

Rear camber/toe bolt adjustment question
Hey all, I recently had new tyres and tracking/alignment. The company that carried out the tracking/alignment have tried to adjust the rear but have found the rear bolts to do this have seized. He explained this is common because the bolts are alloy and are often not copper greased from factory. They then run through a steel sleeve which is mounted in the bush in the arm. He said the alloy bolt and steel sleeve effectively corrode together seizing it in place. By adjusting it whilst seized its winding the Bush which would cause premature wear/failure. My question is, he believed I needed to change the whole rear arm on each side. I've found a genuine VAG MQB platform bolt kit for £26, could I get away with this or would it be easier to replace the arms as well? Thanks in advance!

Advice on buying a mk3 vrs
A friend of mine has a MK5 Golf GTi which has a new set of front wings. It has got close to 200k on though!

Advice on buying a mk3 vrs
I looked at a 14 plate Race Blue estate with just over 100k on the clock. When he sent me close up pics and a video I was shocked. Both rear arches were blistered, one badly, front wings going on the lip and around where the front wing meets the frame. That area is bad on alot of VAG cars because they put a huge piece of sponge there which soaks up the moisture, but effectively also keeps the area underneath damp. I am planning to cut 5 inches off the sponge to try and stop this from happening.

Facebook market place. More and more smaller dealers and garages are using this way because its cheaper than Autotrader which is traditionally quite expensive.

Octavia vrs mk3 suspension lower arms
On the MK6 GTi a good mod was to swap the steel arms for cast aluminium from a Passat to lighten up the front end. If you are going to the effort of taking arms off it may be worth getting 2nd hand aluminium arms and new bushes.

Then took the car in for wheel balancing as had a droning from the rear which I thought was either balancing or wheel bearing. Turned out it was neither! Nearside rear was badly worn, never seen anything like it but apparently on MQB platformed cars? After checking the dates on the tyres, the fronts were 2019 and the rears were 2017! Decided to buy 4 new Goodyears and up the profile to 235 rather than the 225. Fills out the arches nicer and provides slightly more comfort. Things I plan to do in no particular order: - Refurb the Xtremes in gloss black. - New centre caps - Stage 1 remap, thinking Racingline with DSG map but open to opinions. - DSG service, plan to use local Skoda dealer. - 4D plates. - MK6 Golf battery box to replace soft cover. - Black plastic bumper protector. - Paddle extensions. - Silver and red VRS badges and debadge the Skoda and Octavia badging. - Possibly hubcentric wheel spacers though toying with that idea as I don't want to upset the handling. - Replace both rear lights, they are both weirdly crazed. Never seen it and doesn't appear to be a common thing? - Some coding for LED lights and things like the Audi Throttle adaptation. I'm still making a list but either need to buy VCDS or find someone local who will do this for beer tokens!

Doug's Race Blue VRS wagon
First things first, good clean inside and out. Came up well but still needs a good clay bar and polish. Next up was the Pikey airbox mod and blanking plate, helps with airflow and a little with sound. I also put in LED bulbs in the interior and sidelights, need to code out the error light on the dash. I changed the coolant reservoir after the horror stories of the silicone bag splitting, easy job to change and had some coolant left over from the Golf so topped it up.

-Renault Clio 197, Recaro's (so comfy) Miltek exhaust, 200 Cup wheels, great car for fun but not for daily. -VW Golf MK6 GTi, MK7 alloys, Stage 1 map. Cost lots as changed clutch and cam chain. Once I found out that my wife are expecting in October the hunt for a bigger car came! Always like VRS's and fancied a DSG. After a little while I upped my budget from 10k to 12k to 14k. Found this 15 plate in Norwich. After an epic journey to get it (my flight was cancelled and so jumped in a black cab from Exeter to King's Lynn) I picked it up! 2015 VRS wagon in Race Blue, full Skoda dealer service history, winter pack, black pack, leather, bigger infotainment screen, DAB, Apple carplay/Android Auto activated, cruise control and 19" Xtreme alloys. Drove home and was smitten. Not as powerful as the Golf but more civilised and comfortable. DSG is awesome too!

Doug's Race Blue VRS wagon
Hey all, I've been lurking for awhile and thought I'd introduce myself. I've had a few VAG cars over the years amongst others, it's been a varied lot! -Renault 5 1.4, was a bit of a shed! -Megane 1.6 coupe, was written off quickly -VW Bora PD 115. Bought as a high mileage hero (148k), replaced interior with leather sports heated seats, lowered, BBS CH alloys, turbo and remap with PD130 bits. Sold at 176k! -Not mine but my brothers Scirocco Storm. Massive project car that ended up being sold as a running project and is probably in a mid Devon barn rusting away. -BMW 320cd, immaculate, lowered on B4s and Eibach Pro Kit. Written off when I was run off the road by a Land Rover. -BMW 330cd, Imola Red (best colour) but was a needy car. Remapped, straight through exhaust, bigger intercooler, custom pipework. Over 300bhp and 450ft LB (limited) it was a rocketship.

Krofs MK3 vRS project log
As my missus would say, gives you something to do! I've learnt alot over the years but I still haven't gone far enough. I'd like to have a car that properly beads. For a full detail I have Autoglyms 3 stage Polar system, Bilton Hamber autowheel, Autostart Tardis for tar removal, etc. I've yet to claybar the VRS although I've just bought a fresh tin of Collinite 476s to give it a bit of shine. I want to invest in a proper machine polisher and bring it up better but that's a whole 'nother world of pads, polishes and compounds.

Dutch Grey MK3 vRS 245 Combi
Thats good to know. I can't see going further than stage 1 but it's nice to have options. Car looks fantastic, I think the Racingline wheels suit it massively.

Thoughts on this VRS
Having had Bilstein B4s and Eibach Pro Springs on other cars I am very interested to see what you think on the VRS. I'm on 83k now and for an 8 year car the suspension is probably past its best. I was always impressed at B4s and the less crashy nature of Eibachs so I would go down that route again.

Anyone else in Plymouth?
Hey all, relatively new to the Skoda world but not VAG cars, anyone local to Plymouth? Looking for someone with VCDS who could potentially code a few small bits (LED numberplate lights, sidelights, etc) for beer tokens or help back. Thanks in advance!

Thoughts on this VRS
Makes sense. I've had low cars before and all they do is rub and scrape. That is quite low compared to standard too, Id almost think its on coilovers but the garage has confirmed it isn't. This is mine and with 235 instead of 225 profile tyres. I'd want a very small drop to keep it usable but only subtle which is why I think I'll go for Eibach Pro, 10mm rear and 20mm front. I wish you the best hunting around though. If you are looking up to 16k they are coming up regularly.
