  1. I stopped my Freedom membership when I sold my Yeti and bought a Qashqai, but I still read this forum avidly, mainly because of the fun that runs throughout it, which has always made it a good site to look at, much better than the Nissan ones,. Although I can't contribute much these days as I do not have a Yeti. I still like to see what is happening to the cars as they age and keep my options open for what I will buy in two and a half years time when my QQ needs a MOT. Yes it can be prickly at times but people should get over this and accept there is no long term issues. I suppose as the Yeti ages, there will be less posters and not as many issues to talk about, but we all need to ensure sites like this survive and help each other with problems, modifications etc, Kenny deciding not to post anymore is doing no one any favours and will deprive you of some good forum friends and useful input you have offered others.
  2. Have to agree with you there Johann, the Octy Scout looks much more impressive. I am saving like mad to look at one of these for next year and hopefully the current L & K Octy will keep me going until then
  3. Earlier Yeti's do not hold their value very much now. When I traded in my 13 month old 1.2 Elegance with DSG and Sunroof in this March I was offered £13.5k from Skoda and £14.5k against the new QQ I finally bought. It had only 8523 miles on the clock with a three year service plan and the paint protection added when new, plus other extras. An almost £10k loss in 13 months. All the "we buy your car" companies offered similar or slightly less than the Skoda dealer. I have learned a lesson in keeping cars now for a minimum of 3 years.
  4. Sadly you are probably correct, what was a great car in every respect up to around 12 months ago is now showing its age in every respect, and unfortunately because of the pricing is not looking a good buy. Because of my affinity with Skoda I will look forward to the next "new" model and by then it should be in competing with the all cars overtaking it in the market place. Unfortunately I have looked and tested a new Octavia to replace our 2006 180kmiles L & K model and to be honest have not been impressed by this either. So far the time being we may be moving away from Skoda and VAG group cars for the first time in 15 years.
  5. Same reason we got shut of ours with less than 9k miles on the clock after 15 months. The wife hated the ride and the seats and although I did not mind too much, I was persuaded to look at the Qashqai and what a difference, seats 100% better, the ride on the 19 inch wheels far superior to the Yeti 17 inch and altogether a different class of motoring, we've already done over 5k miles in under six months and really enjoy our days out now. Although I do miss the all round vision and the quirky looks.

  7. Had one in my Yeti, very easy to fit. I have just fitted one to my Qashqai, using a piggy back fuse. I have put a link on the QQ forum on how I did it. On the Yeti it is much easier as the fuse box is situated in the plastic cover between the right and side of the dashboard and the door. Very easy fit. Here is the link: http://www.qashqaiownersclub.co.uk/forum/dash-camera-fitted_topic1063.html#11452
  8. When I sold my 15 month old 1.2T Elegance DSG with Sunroof in March this year I was offered £13500 against a new Octavia Estate. I got a better offer from trading in for a new Qashqai at £14500, still not good for an expensive not so old car with only 8500 on the clock. Depreciation is the cancer of cars.
  9. Some people think I am knocking the Yeti which I certainly am not, just saying after a perfect 15 months of ownership, I wanted a new car so looked around. The facelift Yeti was in my opinion too similar to what I had, I was fed up of my wife complaining about the ride, so I viewed a range of similar vehicles. After seeing the QQ had been 2014 What Car "car of the Year" I took a test drive, we both agreed it was a better car to drive and suited our needs. No one seems to like the minor criticism of the facelift Yeti by the Daily Express, but remember it is a single persons opinion, not everyone's, perhaps it should be just accepted, and before everyone continues to knock the QQ, perhaps a trip to the newsagents to buy this months What Car should be made.
  10. Probably because the Yeti has a loyal following and sells reasonably well, Skoda feel there is no need to offer anything new in standard equipment and they can leave it off even if the car is now poor value for money. It becomes extremely expensive if you put on extras that are now standard on many cars. I agree the QQ does not have the wonderful visibility of the Yeti, but it does have six cameras that give front, side, rear and all round 360 views as well, and you can reverse without looking over your shoulder. It was the ride that finally put me off the Yeti, too choppy and twitching over the slightest bump. The QQ on 19 inch wheels rides perfectly, it must, as my wife has commented about the ride quality and she normally never comments about anything on cars. I've noticed the negative reviews on ride quality continue into the new model, perhaps its the short wheelbase that causes it.
  11. Exactly, when I got my new Qashqai, my neighbour with a Citroen said " At last you have seen sense and got rid of the Skoda and bought a decent car" I nearly took his head off and said the Yeti was so far ahead of the car he was driving., and also referred him to my Octavia with 178k on the clock and said compare Citreon to Skoda now if you dare.
  12. Unfortunately some of what is said is correct. I loved my 12 month old Yeti but after 2 months of the Qashqai I can honestly say it is in a different league of motoring. 1.2 engine so much quicker off the mark and also quieter, ride even on 19 inch wheels super smooth over all surfaces and the interior quality up with the top German marques. I loved the quirkiness of the Yeti but after 2000 Qashqai miles any regrets? absolutely not. The QQ is a modern car and has everything you would want in a 2014 model, I may return to the Yeti eventually, but it will be when the real modern car is released, sadly now it is a four year old dated model and feels like it
  13. I don't know what has gone wrong with Skoda dealers attitude. My recent experience with them over a new car was atrocious, a lack of initial interest, could not get me the model I wanted to try out offering me the same model as I already have. Never got back with a trade in offer or final price of the new car despite two reminders and gave the opinion of we have enough business at present we'll come back when WE are interested. We looked at the Qashqai, said I would like try both diesel and petrol and two days later they phoned to arrange a time to try both cars. We negotiated a trade in, delivery date etc. and all was confirmed in writing the next morning. I was advised a delivery date and the car arrived on time, arranged a collection date / time and this will be this Saturday. I have literally had on average a phone call from their sales team every week since the order, updating me on the progress and the transfer of my cherished plates which was all done for free. On Tuesday this week I got a call saying I could go down and view the car at the PDI depot after the SuperGuard has been applied to see if I was happy. I cheekily said I have three genuine Nissan chrome exterior parts could I pay for your PDI chaps to fit them as the weather is not warm enough to fit myself yet. They phoned back 10 minutes later saying take them down and we will fit them for you free of charge, now that is service
  14. I'm in the brigade of keep it and try and raise funds elsewhere. In my younger days I heavily modified a BMW spending thousands on the engine, brakes, suspension etc. but when I tried to sell it had all sorts of problems. The dealers were not interested in a trade in and it sat for months awaiting a private buyer. Most people were put off by the cost of parts if it went wrong or they thought it had probably been thrashed having such a high BHP, then when I did get a bite the bloke who was going to buy it cancelled because of the hike in insurance costs. I ended up selling it for around £2k less than a standard model and vowed never to go down the route of hotting up cars again
  15. Take a look at this link http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/285056-yeti-noises/?hl=%2Bfront+%2Bend+%2Bknock#entry3428121 maybe something similar to yours. I could not find any other similar posts, but you may find it interesting reading....Best of luck
  16. Please accept my apologies and thank you for responding, but we have been getting various posts from a certain OP who goes out of his way to create a lot of time wasting. I hope someone comes along to help you with your problems. I have never experienced this but if some one has then I am sure you will get help
  17. I would find out if you are on variable or fixed service as I believe the variable uses a fully synthetic oil which can last up to 20k miles without problems, and it is expensive. My Octavia is on variable because I used to do a fair bit of mileage per year and the last service was 16k miles ago, really ought to have it changed to fixed as I will only do around 10k miles a year now. But all in all the car has over 170k on the clock with no engine problems so the oil must be pretty good. I understand your concerns as I am from the brigade of the what are now vintage cars, where you became paranoid about oil changes and after having a set of big end bearings fail on a Ford Anglia I religiously changed my oil every 3k miles. I think with better engineered engine parts and far superior oils, there is now no need for this
  18. Probably as there appears to be a lot of daft questions being asked on this forum at the moment that just do not add up or seem legitimate. . My feeling is, if the OP does not respond straight away to the first answer lets stop feeding their ego's with our comments
  19. Being an L & K Yeti it must be new or nearly new so why change the oil and filter yourself. Surely you will want the dealers service stamp in your book for warranty and future sell on
  20. Takes me back to the early BMC mini sub frame problems. After my first one rusting through and having to pay the cost of early replacement, I learned a lesson. When my wife bought her second one I ensured it was covered in grease and a product called LPS-3 which kept it in pristine condition. I don't suppose the Yeti back end will suffer the same fate as the dreaded rusty sub-frame it will just be surface rust. So if you feel it needs it just spray some grease onto it for peace of mind.
  21. I've also been looking on the Nissan forums (unfortunately not a patch on this one) and it suffers the same sort of abuse from people with nothing better to do than try and make themselves seem important. It's sad that forums seem to attract sad people who really have no interest in what the forum is about, only the attention they get from the replies and comments
  22. I am beginning to imagine Thingy is just fishing for comments, no replies or confirmation to any questions we have thrown at him, maybe it is all a wind up.
  23. The DSG box is continually changing up and down when accelerating, but you hardly notice. I suppose if you could co-ordinate your brain, your hand on the gear lever and your foot on the clutch as quickly as the DSG box does and at the correct RPM you would also hardly notice any gear changes, but sadly this will never happen. A great plus point for the automatic box. Regarding rafi-arch's comments about skipping gears, I often go from 3rd to 5th in our Octavia which it does with no problems
