  1. That's amazing I got substantially more than that trading in my 14 month old Elegance with 8.3k on the clock. I'm sure the dealer would want a damn site more than £14k when he sells it on or he is into a massive loss
  2. I think the original is brilliant, the wife says it's a van with windows. Looked at the facelift thought it had nothing to offer apart from a nose job and a price increase. So ruled that out. The Mrs. asked me to look at other cars and I ended up going elsewhere. I will look out for the new model in about three years time and may be back
  3. Yes as ManxSkoda says I have them fitted on mine purchased from Super Skoda site. You can see them on the link on my signature at the bottom
  4. I think Graham's comments are correct and unfortunately nothing can keep the back end clear of road muck. It is the one downfall of the flat high back, but it more than makes up for the stuff you can shove in there without fouling the roof. The cars sides are not much better, it can be washed and within five miles just as dirty again. The mud flaps do not make the slightest difference to this. I have had many cars over the years and can honestly say the Yeti is one of the hardest cars to keep looking clean.
  5. That's ok with me, we need a new BobDog
  6. As a last tribute to my Yeti I have completed the survey and as last year given the best marks for most things. I will be up there again I'm sure
  7. Take your good lady down a dark out of the way place at night , let the windows steam up and then switch on your heated screen. If you are still in a concentrating mood, see what happens to the glass
  8. Have you used some form of plastic protector/shine stuff at some time ? as some of these mark badly when wet. I have seen this before on dark interiors, if so you will probably have to remove it all with some form of plastic cleaner
  9. Took my Yeti to the car washers yesterday and during the final pressure wash one of the operators tapped on the window holding the rear silver bumper protector saying this has just flown off. On getting home I noticed that the item is held on with double backed tape only, no glue or anything like that. I am amazed it held for so long considering the grained finish of the bumper. I would have refitted it myself until I got to my Tiger Glue to find it had all turned into a solid lump and not usable. As the car is going in the next couple of weeks I will leave it off, I am sure it will not be missed, but if you have had this part dealer fitted it may be worth checking out how secure it is.
  10. Yes I agree with the earlier posts, sounds like a battery problem. I had almost all these things happen on my Octy. a jump start and everything was ok. The car was left overnight and the following morning all the symptoms came back again. The battery was diagnosed as not holding a charge, a new one was fitted and everything was fine
  11. I was considering an Octy.Estate later this year to replace my 1.8T L & K Estate model and tried to do a price configuration. Bearing in mind the top model is now the Elegance with no where near the specification of the old L & K I tried to get as near as possible spec. adding items where appropriate and still with some of the L & K spec'n .missing, the price came to £25,400 and this only with the 1.4T engine. This is also looking like a big price hike from Skoda and possibly not good value when compared to other cars around the same price.
  12. When my Yeti arrived last December on the18th. I asked for it to be registered in March for the new "13" Reg, which the dealer agreed too. Two days later I got a call from the service manager asking if I would take the car on the 23rd. December, I said no, then they offered me £350 of free accessories, and a full Lifeshine for free which would be worth around £600 in all. The excitement of the car got the better of me and I agreed. You are probably correct that they are desperate for sales in the last months running up to the new reg. and are looking to get completed sales in.
  13. Even if Skoda managed to remove the badge snobbery thing, I can't see any Audi/VW/BMW owners switching to this model and actually paying more. As for existing Skoda owners they would either have to have more money than sense or are trying to make a statement. However, perhaps Skoda are banking on government backed emergency services stumping up this money when they buy paramedic ambulances, fast response fire vehicles and the police cars .Let's face it money is no object to them, it's the tax payer who will be paying, and they will not even notice the massive price increase. PS Good debate you have started here Johann
  14. Yes that is what I was told when I ordered my new QQ. It gets to the dealers this Friday, but was advised by taking before the 2014 plate it could reduce the eventual resale value by as much as £500
  15. With that number plate Richard, you could never dream of not having a Yeti
  16. Unfortunately Johann, this is now becoming a problem with the Skoda range, they are starting to price themselves out of the market. Looks a great car, but as you say the extras needed to get near to the specification of my L & K Octy. would probably put this car in the £30k plus bracket. Sadly it looks like I wont be going down the 4 x 4 route when I replace my almost seven year old.
  17. I have had no problems at all with seat comfort although I am only 5ft.10ins. But I did notice when I was considering the facelift Yeti that two of the web magazine reviewers did mention a problem with seating being too upright and not in correct alignment with the steering wheel. Perhaps it is only a problem with tall drivers
  18. This mileage is not unusual for VAG engines, two of my former Passat company cars were bought by company staff when the lease ended and they still have them, the 1.8T "V" registered has done over 210k miles, with original engine and the other a 2 litre "52" Reg has 172k miles and still on the original parts. As seen on my other posts my "06" Octy. has done over 170k miles without a single serious problem
  19. Yes unfortunately I have to agree. I was on the verge of a private sale of my Yeti with 8.2k on the clock but the chap who was interested saw the creases on the front seats and decided to then look at an SE model with cloth which he bought instead preferring the look of the cloth seats, so I had to trade in to save time. The strange thing is that our Octavia does not have these creases, it seems to be a Yeti thing and the Octy. seats are still looking great after over 160k miles. I also found that trying to clean of belt stains when I tried a professional cleaner and rubbed hard the cream (I assume paint) started to come off onto the cloth which worried me a little so I stopped using it. I do not think the leather is as good as it used to be
  20. The previous model was the same and on this forum there are various modifications owners have made to combat this issue. But in all honesty I have not seen or heard of anyone having the radiator holed by a rogue flying stone. Suppose it may have happened to someone, somewhere if it worries you then make a template and use some mesh. 33q (Nigel) has put info on the forum of one he made up and it looks good
  21. 13 months and 8.2k miles, the average for my 1.2 petrol is 40.7 mph. Not bad at all
  22. Exactly what I though when I saw those photo's, I thought they were a send up. Brings back happy memories of 1970's driving and those slippery plastic seats
  23. I have noticed my car also has the dreaded blisters at only 13 months old, beneath the black plastic trim drivers and passenger doors, there are no sign of stone chips so it sounds like a similar problem. I will discuss with the dealer later this week to determine what to do. This could be problematic as the car is being traded in at the end of the month and they may try to delay a decision to get out of doing anything.
