  1. Just the thick clear plastic that is fixed to rear sill / top of bumper. You can see it as it's shiney, but does a job.
  2. Good point - I have an estate ! 😁
  3. Things I've done or added - none make a difference to handling or performance but (IMHO) enhance the experience; Rubber key cover - more comfortable when in my pocket & doesn't slide around on plastic LED lamps for the boot as the factory fit ones are sooooo dim Clear sill cover (estate) to reduce potential damage from dogs jumping in/out Changed puddle lamps from 'Skoda' to 'VRS' Rubber boot liner (as above) Changed logo badge on bonnet to be matt black
  4. FYI - trip yesterday of 125 miles. 65 miles on M6, 60 miles on A/B/U roads. Motorway speed National limit +15%, other speed not above speed limit and often much lower when going over a pass / fell. Motorway only - 43.5 mpg Overall - 40.5 mpg
  5. Decent quality & a good fit - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234955761496 @ £22.79
  6. On a long run (A roads, not motorway), I can easily achieve 40+ even with some spirited overtaking. As I have ~1hr 15min of A roads, twists & turns to get to motorway driving, my average for that is lower ~32-35mpg. As has been said, all depends on how you drive - I moved to VRS from a 2l Audi A6 diesel and knew that it would not return even close to the mpg. But I like driving and haven't regretted my decision.
  7. I don't think you can 'program' a mode to turn these off as they are factory 'safety' features - same as the stupid default false engine noise. Agree, only takes a ouple of seconds, but is annoyin.
  8. Have it on my Graphite Grey and I think it looks brill. I got a set of VRS puddle lamps from Aliexpress that cost £12 delivered - can't post a link as seller no longer offers them.
  9. Just checked and my car is subject to a recall https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
  10. So does the factory to bar preparation install the wiring loom ? That's what I'm trying to find out
  11. I know there are lots of questions around towing (some from me) and finally getting around to getting one fitted. My towing plate shows that the car is 'enabled' for towing (confirmed by dealer) although it does not have a cut-out in the bumper / valance (have an after-market one to fit). Does anyone know what the towbar prep does in terms of wiring as the garage has advised me that I need to 'order' dedicated electrics due to city braking, which I think I have. Logic would suggest that the factory wiring would take that into account and that nothing further would be needed I know it will need a re-code but loathed to have to pay an extra £250 for dedicated electrics if it has already been done at the factory.
  12. Agree - my certificate doesn't show that the car had factory towbar prep done, nor the fact it has a space saver spare wheel rather than the goo kit.
  13. IMHO it's better hard-wiring in as there are no unsightly cables (OCD - yes please). I'm probably in the minority but I wouldn't be able to 'un-see' the cable if it was wrapped around the front of the mirror housing. Not a complex job to do - took me 30 mins but that included crimping the wires that fed into the fuse / earth point.
  14. My car has oil check / change a couple of weeks ago and as well as checking infotainment SW version, they fitted the engine cover.
  15. Even with a short, 90degree cable I still thought it untidy so hard-wired the power in.
  16. Just had an oil change done and as part of a recall, they have fitted the engine cover that was missing / removed.
  17. We've moved to multi-car (3 cars in house) and it makes it very difficult to compare as (a) most comparison websites don't allow multi-car quotes and (b) current insurer (Elephant) doesn't show the individual car costs, just the total. I probably spent 20+ hours last October (at renewal time) trying to do some comparisons but gave up in the end.
  18. Just back from dealer (getting oil change & inspection under warranty) and had mentioned the SW issue. Apparently, they updated the SW for me (funny as still shows same version) and I managed to get a whole 500m away before the 1/3 of the screen showing my podcast player went blank !! Then a reboot 10 mins later.
  19. So I think I know what my problem was - although the car had towbar prep done as part of the factory build, they did not include the correct valance / spoiler (i.e. the one with the cutout already done). I took it to my local dealer and they fully expected to see the cutout as that is what the system said. Ignored that and got an aftermarket one anyway 😀
  20. Hmm - not sure that I would want to carry anything on the roof that wasn't securely fitted / locked. I've been carrying canoes & other 'stuff' for on roof racks for 30+ years and have always had properly fitted bars. On modern cars, the roof rails provide an excellent anchor point and the reality is that it doesn't take long to fit. My Thule Aerobars can be fitted in less than 5 minutes (with supplied torque tool or drill with hex bolt) so unless you are fitting / removing the bars multiple times during the day, having 'quick release' is probably not going to make much of a difference. What is more important to me is wind noise, fuel economy & practicality (e.g. T-bolt fitting for bike racks).
  21. Good to know that "the issue is not on your back end" - must make you sleep better 😁
  22. I haven't noticed the 'lag' as such, but you do need to blip the throttle to release auto hold than previous A6's I've had with the 'same' functionality. As in a lot more ! And the default engine noise, please why........
  23. Hi Please can you advise on pricing - I already have a replacement valance (Maxton) to be fitted at the same time. Thanks
  24. I was going to order new in April but didn't want the prospect of a 52 week wait so ended up getting one 9 months old (VRS estate). Other than some niggles, pretty happy with it.
  25. Updated this morning and had a couple of 'eek' moments. In case it helps, on reboot the warning sounds about handbrake; when rebooting after CPU update screen appears to freeze and progress bar doesn't move. It does - just takes a while. Although I didn't have too many reboots (1 or 2 a week), I did have issues where Android Auto wouldn't load so hopefully that will be fixed / reduced.
