Ongoing audio / media unit issues
Factory reset done and already had the issue of Android Auto displaying media as blank ! Will give it a few days to see if the other issues re-occur.

Ongoing audio / media unit issues
Apologies in advance for a long post / read but hoping to get some assistance before going back to the dealer (under warranty). I have had issues pretty much from when I got the car, especially with Android Auto not displaying properly. However, got much worse recently and like a lot of threads on here, doesn't seem to be a consistent cause or fix - I have kept a log of errors but got fed up with the restart or disconnect ones as they were happening every couple of days. I did take it to the dealer earlier this year (8th October) with front parking sensor error (replaced under warranty) and asked them to look at the audio / media unit. I paid £195 for the privilege of the mechanic spending time (and failing) to find any information about SW1969 which according to him (and he spoke to Skoda Master Technician) didn't exist...despite the fact that other dealers were updating to it. For me, using Android Auto is essential as I drive to lots of different places and rely on it for (a) navigation and (b) playing podcasts / music so having a reliable unit is pretty important. And of course, you either need the screen on or have the magic touch to turn off the stupid car sounds ! Anyway, I want to try and get this resolved whilst still in warranty so will be discussing with dealer in January - I have held off updating to SW1985 as I think I have a hardware not software issue but don't want the 'we don't recognise that SW version' discussion. Questions; In my notes, I have recorded TPI 2067494/3 (no sound from head unit) but can't find a copy of that online to reference. Is it worth registering & paying for erwin access to download these or can you only see what Skoda have assigned against your VIN Is anyone aware of any other TPIs that could affect audio / media unit Does anyone have any further suggestions / tests to do to try and identify or isolate the issue(s) Excepting reboots & disconnects (that happen pretty much every other day) here's my issue log; Hardware: H58 Software: 1969 (not OTA update) Display unit/control panel hardware: H47 Display unit/control panel software: 2103 Navigation database: 23.7 Media codec: 3.1.4 General - Android Auto frequently displays the media third of the screen as blank (picture taken) 05/10 no sound from head unit 06/10 screen blank, audio playing 06/10 screen blank, audio playing (video taken) 08/10 dealer replaced faulty parking sensor; checked SW version but no attempt to fix audio / media 23/10 restart 24/10 screen blank, no audio for 5 mins, screen on 7 mins 24/10 restart 24/10 restart 25/10 screen blank, audio playing, screen on after 5 mins 02/11 screen blank, audio playing, screen on after 5 mins 02/11 no sound but screen on 02/11 Park Distance Control error 09/11 screen blank, audio playing, screen on after 3 mins 10/11 screen shot blank, no audio : stayed blank for journey (7 mins). After market towbar - is a new rear valance or pre-cut panel needed
I do have a Maxton rear splitter for sale that has the cutout in it BUT wasn't suitable for my removable towbar which I think is Westfalia. Will check tomorrow but let me know if you're interested in getting dimensions / look / etc.

At what distance do your front parking sensors work?
I had my changed under warranty a few weeks ago and without being scientific, they just didn't 'feel' like they worked the same way. So having nearly knocked over a plant pot in the driveway, I thought I'd do a check (engine running, Drive selected, foot on brake); #1 - person. No matter how close I walked or put my hand near the sensor, wasn't detected at all (bit worrying). #2 - plant pot. Large (~50l) plant pot was only detected at about 70cm distance as a slowly drove towards it. I'm sure that prior to be 'fixed' they reacted much better than that. So a request please - if you have front parking sensors (and a spare 5 mins), could you repeat my tests (with your own plant pot) and post back the results. When the car was last at the dealer, I also mentioned issues with the infotainment unit that still persist so have been keeping a log of these to discuss with the dealer.

Update To Infotainment Version 1985 - Download Link and Guide
Thanks for this - have downloaded but won't update yet. I had a hard time with the dealer when getting parking sensors replaced under warranty as they did not believe that 1969 existed (and charged me for the effort to find that out). So I think I'll hang fire until Skoda formally (?) announce 1985 even though I have have issues with my Canton unit (reboots, disconnects, screen being blank).

They knackered my car... 😢
Good to hear that it's all sorted - any chance you could PM me the dealer name as I was charged £190 last week for diagnostics to be run as I was told that 1969 didn't exist. Perhaps my dealer could contact them to learn something new !

Update to Version 1969
Faulty Park Distance Control / Emergency Braking error being checked.

Update to Version 1969
I was charged £190 for 'diagnostics' as the dealer wouldn't believe 1969 existed - any chance you could ask you dealer to officially confirm that 1969 is real & available ? I might be able to get my money back, however unlikely.

Park Distance Control very intermittent
And to really p*** me off, the dealer technician says one of the parking sensors has a stone chip and likely the cause of the PDC error....so not covered by warranty.😡 They are currently swapping sensors from a 'donor' car but as the bumper needs to come off, going to be 2+ hours. Expensive 🤧

Update to Version 1969
And that's my challenge - unless I can find someone who has had dealer update (or OTA) or reference to it on a Skoda site, they will refuse to believe that it is real as it is not the latest according to their documentation. The dealer did say they contacted tech support who confirmed that 1941 was the latest release.

Update to Version 1969
And just to confirm, v1969 was installed by a dealer or by OTA. Not by a manual update ?

Update to Version 1969
If anyone can give me evidence that it exists I'd appreciate it as about to be charged £120+ for the engineer to 'look' at an incorrect SW version.

Update to Version 1969
FYI - car currently at dealer getting PDC error looked at. They have told me that v1969 does not exist in Skoda so anything that is affected by it is no longer covered by warranty.

Virtual cockpit configuration screen
Weirdly, you can see what gear you are in if you select Sport but not Drive!

Park Distance Control very intermittent
Getting fed up now as have another fault. This has happened 3 times in the last week - after starting car (and getting PDC error), the infotainment screen does not come on. It's working, as music is playing and I can turn the silly exhaust noise off (knowing where to press on the screen). Screen comes on after 5 mins or so. Booked into dealer and they (kind of) confirmed that PDC was related to infotainment unit - they will run diagnostics & stuff on it. I suspect that I will need their loan car for longer than a day but let's see 😉

VRS prices apparently released
Especially as that is calculated on the list price (plus accessories), not what you pay for the car. Vehicles with a list price of more than £40,000You have to pay an extra £410 a year if you have a car or motorhome with a ‘list price’ of more than £40,000. You do not have to pay this if you have a zero emission vehicle.

PDC absolutely crazy
Mine started a couple of weeks ago - there is a long thread with lots of history here -->

Adaptive Lane Assist - Do I have it?
Travel assist / lane assist works OK in my opinion and I tend to leave it on. However, when you start driving 'country lanes', it constantly complains about driving in the middle of the road! Gets switched off when on narrow roads.

Park Distance Control very intermittent
I've never had any issues with this until this week. Started Saturday (I think) and every time I start the car I get the 'please clean front sensors' as well the emergency braking one. I tried the ignition on (but no start) but makes no difference; cleaned the sensors - no sign of any damage or stone chips. I updated to V 1969 several weeks ago so can't blame the SW version. Really annoying - will keep watching this thread and (probably) have to go to the dealer 😞

Stone chips on bonnet - a lot more than I would expect to see.
I'm not keen on the idea of me paying for it and then the dealership compensating me. I'm guessing is because it's not their usual sprayer (or something like that) but will speak to them Monday and explain that my local company doesn't do private work and see what they say.

Stone chips on bonnet - a lot more than I would expect to see.
Updated just not on this thread - Long story short - bought the car at 12 months old from Skoda dealer. Paintwork started flaking (stone chips then flaking), dealer has 'discovered' that the bonnet had been resprayed before they bought it and have offered to pay for another respray. Challenge now is finding a good spray company near me as the one I had been talking to doesn't do private work, just insurance jobs. Dealer has offered to do it but they are 250 miles away so not easy to deliver the car to them.
- Is this covered by paintwork warranty

Is this covered by paintwork warranty
Today's update - dealer contacted me and advised that the place that they sourced the car from has done similar things before so they were none the wiser. However, recognising that they sold the car to me 'not as described' have offered to pay for a respray either at their repair shop or one of my choice. As I live 300 miles from dealer, will be my choice ! Just need written confirmation as they have asked for me to pay for it then they would reimburse me afterwards.
