  1. yes that's what I'm saying, mine came with only two sensors and I put my three sensor one in there. The fairly sure black box that sits in front of it has r be transferred as well
  2. the rim bead has been flattened down to pothole impact. when you put the wheel on a balancer you can see it going up and down. the roads round here are so bad it's unreal
  3. Haven't managed to flat spot all four of my superb alloys (Devon country roads and potholes) I have bought myself a set of VW turbine alloy wheels that are in need of a bit of a refurbishment. I'm looking for an aerosol wheel silver that is nice and bright, can anybody recommend one? TIA
  4. I am 99% sure that the sensors are just plug in on the circuit board, mine only came with 2 sensors and I transferred the middle one over
  5. I had a similar issue with my interior lamp when I got my car, the contact had burnt out. I used the internals from one that was fitted to a similarly aged seat Toledo/alteca/exeo, the only thing I had to was swap the LEDs over as the Seat one had red ones and not clear/green. Cost was less than £15 and about an hour with the soldering iron
  6. thanks for the info on the temp gauge and also additional thermostat. Mine takes about 15 miles before we are feeling warm air so something is certainly amiss. Time to have a go at the thermostat this weekend then
  7. Since the weather has got colder my 2012 2.0 tdi DSG has taken a lot longer to warm up, sometimes up to 30 miles!! My first thought was the thermostat but what's delayed me. from changing this, aside from the fact it looks like a total PITA is that once the car gets to 90 degrees is stays there, my previous experience of thermostat failure is that the temp gauge is constantly moving and never maintains a steady temp once warm. Would this still be the thermostat or should I be looking elsewhere? TIA
  8. We ended up replacing the gearbox with a recon unit and a new clutch pack, so much quieter and smoother now
  9. I hate fixing screws, as a result all my cars have their numberplates attached by double sided tape. I use an 3M product and by it by the roll it's great as it sticks really well the problem occurs when you want to put the car back on its original registration number and have to remove the sticky stuff!! The front is slightly curved, all I do there is make sure the numberplate is at room temperature and the sticky tape as well, fix it on and then using some strong gaffer tape just secure the edges of the numberplate for 24 hours.
  10. I have had my Superb now for about month, in that time I have done about 5,000 miles and am pretty happy with the way it drives and its comfort. The one thing that has been a constant since I bought the car is a transmission noise, it's a high pitched whining noise that is apparent when under load and the greater the load the more the noise. As soon as I lift off the throttle the noise disappears, and comes back when the power is applied. Its had gearbox oil changed at 40K and 80k, currently it is sat at 85K, the last oil that came out looked as clean as the stuff we ended up putting in the car!! we have wondered if this was changed to see if the noise would disappear prior to the car being bought by me. My first thought was gearbox input shaft bearings, but that's calling on my experience of conventional FWD manual gearboxes, this DSG box is a bit of a dark art. Any ideas? we have run VCDS and there are no error codes and everything appears to be running within tolerance
  11. Has the car had any mechanical work done in it recently?
  12. im currently working my way thought the Ebay sellers and whilst all of them claim to be can bus I haven't come across any that are suitable for the Superb yet!!
  13. Does such a thing exist? I have a few parts I want for my 2012 superb and I also use it as a cross reference when changing/upgrading items. Tia
  14. I don't believe it's a coding issue, my feeling is the builds you have are not canbus suitable and so are triggers warning as it doesn't show a draw of 12v at the bulb
  15. I've recently bought a 2012 superb estate and noticed the ride wasn't as compliant as I was hoping for. found out the two rear springs were broken, both in the same place, as a result I had less travel on the springs, replaced them and it's so much different now, far more comfortable and smooth
  16. I've had my Superb a few weeks ago and slowly getting all the little jobs done on it. one thing I've noticed when I am parking/pulling up on the drive is it occasionally almost stalls and then emits a loud clunk. Now this happens when I am driving up an uphill slope very slowly with low revs. I'm new to DSG and wondered if this was normal and maybe I need to change my driving style a little to suit the gearbox
  17. Even the mood lights that are in the interior light unit dim on the dimmer switch
  18. I'm guessing my Columbus is a little out of date!!
  19. I recently bought a 2012 elegance with a DSG. I've got it at a very reasonable price as there were a few jobs that needed doing to it, it came with quite a lot of history but had been stood for awhile so the discs were badly pitted and it wasn't in a very Good condition and needed a very deep clean inside and out. Haven't got it home, given it a good clean and realised that it was metallic black not solid (a bonus) we set about the mechanicals, haven't driven it for a week and cracked up about 500 miles we realised that there was a wheel bearing noise and also when you are under acceleration a gearbox noise as well. This weekend has been spent doing pads, and discs, front wheel bearings, removals the rounded off locking wheel nuts!! And doing a gearbox oil and filter change and this is where the biggest query is raised. We know that the gearbox oil was done by 40,000 miles ago and I was expecting the oil to come out black or certainly with a dark tinge to it however it came out almost honey brown, not much darker than the oil that went in. Is this the case? If there is anybody who has done the gearbox or change can they remember what the colour of the oil was like when it came out of the gearbox. I'm starting to think that the previous owner knew that there was an issue and has possibly tried a gearbox oil change just to see whether that would cure the problem. Having read a bit about this gearboxes it seems that the bearings are area that can give issue, I plan on keeping the car for a few years so I may as well bite the bullet and spend £1000 on having a reconditioned gearbox fitted knowing that it comes with a warranty. Plenty more to do, the Columbus unit is being replaced with a android head unit that does CarPlay and the interior light needs replacing as the switch has burnt out and finally a dash cam needs to be fitted, all of these are fairly straightforward jobs should take no more than another day or so.
  20. I wonder if you can help? I have a secondhand mirror ready to go in but only have 4 wires, they are: Brown/red Brown Black/blue Red/orange im guessing brown is earth but I cannot work out the abbreviations you have used so I can find the power.
  21. I have recently bought a 2012 superb that has the Columbus unit it the car. im undecided what to do with it, I like the integration with the dash but find the sat nav clunky and out of date (I've been used to car play so this is quite a departure) can I update the maps on a unit this old it would I be better off swapping the head unit out for an android one that has car play etc.
