  1. We didn’t code it afterwards, it was plug and play. The replacement box came out of a Passat CC and had radar cruise and electronic handbrake, as a result when we scanned it for fault codes it brought them up on out version of Launch, we never bothered trying to delete them, instead they always cropped up if we were scanning for fault codes.
  2. The A8 seats came from a car of a similar age to my Skoda, as they are both VAG products I found the wiring was pretty much the same and so it was a straight swap. I had to make up new multiplugs as they didn’t match but that wasn’t too hard
  3. Mine is now at 235,000 miles (378,000 kms) and it’s still plodding along. I changed the dsg oil today and carried out a major service on it. It’s now starting to sound like one or two lifters might be going a bit soft as it’s a bit clacky in the mornings, that said it’s still giving over 60mpg on a run with the a/c on so I can’t complain. Mods I have done: Audi A8 comfort front seats (so much better than the standard superb seats) Passat CC turbine alloys 10” android stereo Octavia vrs three spoke wheel with flappy paddles
  4. I replaced mine last year and bought an eBay one at a fraction of the cost of a genuine one. Never had any issues with it since
  5. There's a relay under the carpet by the left hand runner of the passenger seat. that gives problems and causes failures. These seats are know for the heaters not working properly unfortunately, mine have never done
  6. With the exception of the DSG gearbox yes, all done on my drive. Aside from an 7mm Allen key for the brake caliper and coil spring compression tools I didn't need any other special tools.
  7. On the facelift superb estate 13-16 the rear camera is sold as part of the rear tailgate handle but the prefacelift cars have a slightly different handle and it's a slightly smaller aperture so the later handles do not fit the earlier cars and so I have to find a camera that will sit between the handle and rear number plate light but still look factory. the front one will sit on the bumper un the recess just under the front number plate, my biggest issue currently is getting the wiring through the bulkhead into the engine bay. the rear light clusters are known for leaking, in order to get round this the "bodge" is to drill a 2mm hole in the lower left hand corner of the rear light cluster
  8. I completely refreshed the front suspension on my superb for less than £500, that was. shocks all round Lower ball joints track rod ends strut top mounts and bearings wheel bearings all of it was brand new and came via eBay, the only additional cost was 4 wheel alignment at £70 and it all made such a difference to the way the car drove. as for the DSG we have recently picked up a second hand gearbox for £395, again the only thing we then did was put fresh fluid and a filter in it and it was good to go. i may have a drivers seat in black leather available shortly, I have just acquired a set of A8 luxury front seats that will be going into my 2012 elegance estate
  9. Yours is about 6 months newer than mine, the engine codes also denote a build period CFFB - CFGB - CFHB and so on mines a 170 diesel i do mainly long distance school runs, nhs transport and airport transfers. My school run is about 150 miles per day and of that about 15 miles is A road the rest is dual carriageway/motorway so by the time it's warmed up I'm just getting up to cruising speed. the head unit is an xtrons unit. It's not bad, I've had to do some searching about to get it set up the way I wanted but it's reliable and has CarPlay and looks factory fitted, all the steering wheel controls work on it as well. yes you can add cameras, however no one does a handle with a built in camera for the 2012 cars, they do one for the later cars but it won't fit the earlier, I've also got a front camera to go on as well, a job for the summer, the steering wheel is now fitted but the paddles aren't working currently, I'm still trying to figure if it need an adaptation to the body control module in order to tell it that they are there, once I know I will update you i know what you mean about the DSG not being smooth at times, my other car is a 5 series BMW with the 8 speed ZF box in it and that is as smooth as silk but a proper automatic when your springs on the dual mass were failing did it make a chattering noise whilst running?
  10. I have a 2012 superb DSG, the original steering wheel has been replaced with a 3 spoke vrs one from a Fabia, that has paddles fitted. will I need to program the car to recognise the paddles? If so what will I need to do. thanks in advance
  11. I have a 2012 Superb with a CFFB 2.0 170cr that has done 170,000 miles and that is climbing at the rate of 80,000 a year now. I bounty it with 80k on the clock and it had full s/history, I service it every 10k religiously and it still drives really nicely. jobs done so far. front suspension refresh, new shocks, springs, strut tops, lower ball joint and track rod ends at 140,000 miles rear springs and shocks were replaced at the same time at the fronts all of that really transformed the way the car drives, so much smoother. the engine, turbo and all ancillaries are original, and it still gives nearly 60mpg on a run. dsg is original and has its oil changed every 40k, flywheel is a bit rattly these days so that will need doing soon. wheels were replaced because of pothole and laquer damage, I put a set of passat CC turbine wheels on and it looks a lot nicer now. one of the rear light clusters has a leak, in order to get round this I have drilled a 2mm hole right at the bottom of the light cluster, the heater fan needed replacing about 6 months ago at a cost of £50 i use the car as a taxi, it spends every day on either the motorway or dual carriageway with a small amount of town driving. The Columbus unit was replaced a long time ago with an android head unit with car play, the steering wheel has been replaced with a 3 spoke sports one that has flappy paddles, next mod will be to swap the front seats for a pair of A8 sports seat that I pick up in a few weeks time
  12. https://blowerfan.co.uk/skoda-superb-mk2-heater-blower-fan-motor-resistor-2008-2015/ if you have climate control then this is the one you need.
  13. I have a 4 spoke wheel on my car and would prefer to have a sportier looking 3 spoke one if possible. does anyone know of another Skoda/vag group wheel that will fit my 2012 superb? tia
  14. I don't know if you have found the answer yet. it sounds like the motor, I had to replace mine earlier in the year, I bought one off eBay for about £60 brand new and it was a direct replacement. fitting was a doddle, it took me longer to get the trim off the underside of the gave box than it did to replace to actual motor, have a look on you tube there are a few guides on there on how to do it
  15. I have an Xtrons android unit in my 2012 superb, its quite good but its biggest issues is that at night its like having a floodlight on in the car. I have spoken to strong and they tell me that there's no way of turning the brightness down any further than it already is, I want it so its quite dim. So I'm thinking of replacing it with a 10'' screen head unit but am really looking for one that will dim a lot an not give off masses of light. Most of the time I am running google maps on night setting or Waze on night setting and I have a screen filter on it but even my passengers say how bright it is any recommendations?
  16. I have changed my wheels on my Superb to VW turbines and it now runs 235 tyres, all I did with mine was to reset the TPMS and it was good to go. TPMS on this model uses wheel rotation rather than pressure valves, cheaper but can still give issues of its own.
  17. I have one out of my 2012 Superb, full working order and I wondered what it's worth as I've upgraded to an android unit
  18. My 2012 Superb is will be having a replacement gearbox fitted, my car has a PBE box but a PBF box is going in as its the best one available. Will I need to code the gearbox to the car or is it just plug and play? We are fitting a new DMF but reusing the old clutch as its only done about 30K Thanks
  19. I'm having to replace my PBE DSG gearbox, I've found a PBF gearbox and will be fitting that along with a new DMF. will I have to code the car to tell it that the gearbox is different?
  20. Very....... there are many documented stories of DSG failures because the service intervals have not been followed mine done motorway miles and even after 35k the oil that comes out is still very dirty
  21. My 2012 2.0 CR has a PBE gearbox in it, however it is on its last legs and is making a lot of weird noises. i'm looking at replacing it with a used unit but all I can find are PBX and PBF boxes. does anyone know what the differences are in the codes or does anyone know if there is a list that shows cross compatibility. thanks
  22. just out of curiosity did the heated seat display light up when you switched the seat heaters on? Mine gives all the indications of the seat heaters working but no heat coming from either seat
  23. Not really, it's the standard 225/40x18 superb wheels and tyres
  24. That's right, the soldering was for the LEDs in the switch and in the little lights that shine downwards onto the centre console
