  1. In my part of Hampshire Micheldever Tyres are usually the cheapest, their price at the moment is £139 all in. I was surprised to find Kwik-Fit only £10 more, usually they're considerably more expensive. So good to see someone is finding it cheaper though. Any love for the Continental Sport Contact 3s? They're another £20 cheaper and seem to get very good reviews, often beating MPS3s in group tests.
  2. Mine too. For the OP; if you, or someone else, has access to the car you can check by looking at the option codes on the sticker in the boot. I've been trying to find the exact code but can't, my car isn't here today so I can't check. Hopefully someone will post it soon.
  3. FYI I get around 530-550 ish in my vRS CR DSG Estate
  4. Whenever you value your own car take the worst you can think of, take a bit off and be happy if you get more! Parkers used prices are not accurate, Glass' Guide/CAP are what trade use.
  5. Surely no warranty left - warranty is 3 years/60k miles, no?
  6. Everything you need to know about RFL (road tax) here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/DG_10012524
  7. That's exactly what I was trying to say, but clearly failed to do! Cheers.
  8. Seems unrealistically high to me. Also, having been to Bangalore, I find 50kph in the city a little hard to believe
  9. My point wasn't that the car will fail emissions, as stated the emissions will almost certainly be ok. My point is that MOT tests are being widened to check for things that aren't currently in the test, such as non-conforming HID lamps. It's quite possible that there will be an addition to the test to say that if a DPF was fitted it should remain fitted. In light of this I'd recommend that if you do have the DPF removed that it looks like it's still there, that should be enough. Removing the whole thing and putting a straight thru pipe on could cause problems in the future. If you doubt this advice, just ask Ben @ Shark, he knows more than most on this subject and this is his approach too.
  10. Trade use the Glass's guide, using What Car prices might leave you disappointed. You can get a free Glass's valuation here. http://www.virtual-s...h=b&sessionid=0 As an example the What Car valuation for my car is £14.5k, whilst Glass's was £10.8k
  11. But there is nothing to say that in the future the MOT won't be changed to say something like 'If originally fitted, the DPF must still be fitted' In fact the speculation is that this will be added to the MOT along with retro-fitted HID etc. So if the removal is obvious the tester would be obliged to fail the car.
  12. The point about the MOT is who knows what checks they will introduce in the future. If I was having my DPF removed I'd want it done so that it looks like it's still there. As for declaring the DPF removal I'd gave thought the insurance company would want to know.
  13. My Ocatvia was serviced by a Skoda retailer before I bought it in August at around 37k miles. The car now has 45k miles. Today the service indicator came on telling me to service in 800 miles or 165 days. Implying it's on annual servicing, not longlife and that it thinks a service is due at around 46k. I wouldn't expect a service to be due until 12m after the last one (so around August 2011) the service book has next service at 56k or August 2012? Did the workshop forget to reset the service indicator? Or did the workshop think it was on longlife when it's actually set to annual servicing?
  14. The savings may be small but even small savings in what is a very competitive market place will move the car into lower tax bracket, with the resulting benefit in sales. For those that buy used cars it's fairly irrelevant but for company car buyers it's very important.
  15. No chance of retro-fit. The fuel saving will depend on the type of driving you do. The CO2 saving could be significant though and will help Skoda sell to company car buyers in the UK, for example.
  16. I got my first chance to look at an Exeo ST today, it's a handsome car and almost indistinguishable from the A4 Estate (sorry, Avant) it's derived from . Seat used values are nothing to shout about but with an appropriate discount (like the one Skoda offer) I'd have no problem with it. Clearly the scout is a different car, the 4WD and extra height aren't offered on the Exeo, but as an alternative to Octavia Estate it has to be considered.
  17. Try here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Volkswagen_Group_diesel_engines
  18. Apologies, from my brief read of that thread it seems that there was an issue with Octavia fuel filler that meant none of these products worked. Perhaps there's been a change at some point which explains why it works for some and not for others? Or maybe there's a knack to fitting or filling when using these things?
  19. See this thread: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/193705-caparo-rightfuel/ You might be best off getting your money back.
  20. As long as you paint green on the right, red on the left. Anything else would be very confusing.
  21. Get the scout, sell it for a profit as soon as it arrives and buy an 18m old Seat with the proceeds. Put the money you've made and the money you've saved towards whatever you enjoy doing the most
  22. Shame, with even higher petrol prices it probably makes more sense now than ever. Will you be editing the thread title
  23. Yes, but your car wasn't a factory order, you managed to find a car that the dealer had bought with the VAT free deal, some of that saving was passed on to you. Great for you, no question, but not much use to anyone wanting to order a diesel car today and choose their own options. So, the question remains, who's doing the best price for a factory order diesel? DTD, Carfile or someone else?
  24. The price you got is no longer available. Would be interesting to know who's doing the best deal on a factory order diesel, as there is no longer any discount on these.
  25. What I meant was that I couldn't see anything that I'd want to store in there that I couldn't put in the door pockets or jumbo box, and £22 for 50p of plastic and string, even by VAG standards, takes the ****.
