  1. I think this thread highlights a common misunderstanding. There is a difference between meeting and exceeding a specification. Product A meets the minimum specification, it must work correctly. If not the maker is doing something wrong. Product B exceeds the minimum specification, it must work correctly. If not the maker is doing something wrong. Product B may offer benefits over and above product A. The benefits are for the consumer to decide. In the case of diesel fuel, all fuel must meet the test specification defined by EN590. If the car doesn't run correctly on fuel that has passed EN590 the car is at fault, not the fuel. Of course it's possible that the car runs better on a different fuel but no car should have a problem with fuel that passes EN590. Supermarket (or any) fuel cannot take the car below it's stated performance, else it would not pass EN590 and could not be offered for sale.
  2. Since when was supermarket fuel cheap? Round here it costs exactly the same as the fuel from the fuel retailers.

  4. 15 denier in spring, fishnets in summer for the cooling airflow affect.
  5. Yes, and it usually comes with a matching one for the rear that has a cut-out for the trunk.
  6. That's a bit too simple, diesel smoke carries a lot of messages! See here for a more thorough explanation of the different types of smoke and what they mean. It can be quite hard to tell blue and white smoke apart, especially if the car only makes smoke when moving. Rule of thumb, if the oil level is stable, it's white smoke!
  7. Another vote for Ben @ Shark. Top service from a top bloke. Don't worry about the dealer finding out about the remap, only if it can be proven that the remap caused a warranty problem can they refuse to honour the warranty. Life is too short to worry about that sort of thing.
  8. The car-bra proves that marketing people can make a difference! I can't think of a more pointless product.
  9. The weather we have at the moment doesn't help. If the car is sat in bright sunshine, but low temperature, over the course of the day it will warm and eventually be warmer than the outside air. When the sun goes down the outside temp drops quickly but the inside temp can't keep up; condensation is inevitable. The better the car is at letting the air flow, the less pronounced the effect.
  10. Vandalised, stolen or just washed away, there are lots of reason why the warning sign might not be there.
  11. The parrot comes with a loom that piggybacks into the head unit. Some head units will need an adapter, but I don't think any recent Skodas need it. The one thing that is a minor annoyance on the Skoda (and all recent VAG cars) is there's no switched live at the HU, it's necessary to run a feed from somewhere else. g'luck.
  12. Interesting. Callers on my Mki9200 often couldn't tell I was in the car. The call quality with the 9060 is good, but not as good as the Parrot. Seems that there's some variability depending on the car and the type of unit fitted.
  13. I have the Mki9200 in one of my cars and the Bury CC9060 in the other. I'd say that the Parrot has better call quality as it has dual microphones for noise cancelling, the USB and bluetooth streaming also works very well. But I still prefer the Bury. The voice activation is superb with no need to take hands off the wheel to make or receive calls and you can do everything via voice.
  14. Different people will change it in a different way. For example, when I spoke to Ben at Shark they take the filter out but leave the casing. Others will remove the DPF entirely and replace with a straight thru pipe.
  15. Other options are the Bury CC9060 or the Parrot Mki9200 handsfree kits. Both are very good, Parrot is an excellent choice if you also want to add USB/iPod/iPhone for music.
  16. Quite! I didn't check your location! Can you buy the ones they will fit?
  17. Skoda not going to sell as many cars as last year then!
  18. It's a big job. Legally they must be self-levelling and have automatic cleaning. Just swapping out the internals of the lamp units isn't enough.
  19. How hot, how cold? Without knowing the requirements, it's impossible for anyone to give a proper answer.
  20. Good effort! Similar to Kanga's suggestion, I used 'outdoor sticky pads' from B&Q. They're (very) adhesive on both sides and 2 or 3 mm thick, perfect for the job in our car. Maybe not so good if you plan to remove the system come selling time (I don't plan to).
  21. There's no switched live supply to the headunit area in the loom. You'll need to run a switched live from the fusebox, or somewhere else, and integrate it with the connectors for the new headunit.
  22. If anything bigger than a bit of gravel flicks up in there you'll know about it
  23. If the job is putting bits of heat shrink into the sump, yes
  24. I see the OP is from Denmark, UK figures won't be comparable to Danish ones I guess. In the UK there is a long-running promotion, ending in a few days, where the VAT (sales tax) is paid. This represents 17.5% discount at the moment and is the minimum discount we could expect in the UK. I guess that in other countries it will be a very different story.
