  1. A stroke of Genius I know it's a Skoda forum but I found this too interesting not to share
  2. Just did a quick check on Hagerty for Classic cars The Car cannot be your Main vehicle or Daily Driver Qualifying for collector insurance Vehicles must meet the following requirements: An extra vehicle, not for primary use Vehicle must be in good or better condition Vehicle must hold a minimum value of $3,500 Used for pleasure driving not regular commuting, ex. shows, scenic drives, occasional drives to work, etc. Protected, preferably in a garage, but carport and driveway allowed in many areas
  3. Maybe worth seeing if this company is truly Global? https://www.hagerty.com/about-us
  4. Reversing uphill requiring more accelerator input sounds normal to me in any type of vehicle.
  5. maybe of interest on delivery driver/firms forums?
  6. I use the weights on the VIN plate of the car. It shows the weight of the Vehicle (A) and Gross Train weight (B). C and D are load spread across front and rear axles. This vehicle for example can tow 1695kg, (B minus A ) If you do the calculation for percentage you may notice that it can only legally tow about 67% of it's weight. This is becoming more common with Hybrids and Bevs for example because the extra weight of the Car actually reduces it's towing capability. So check your cars "A" figure and work out the weight based on the percentage you are happy with without going over the "B" combination of both I suspect the 1.5 will have a max of around 1500kg but if you want an 85% match your looking at 1,275kg for the Caravan when laden. You may find this useful https://towcar.info/ If you are a member of a caravan or camping Club they offer a free on-line match checker
  7. The signs to say it's dropping to 30 are still on the road coming the other way because they removed the signs but haven't resurfaced the road. I noticed the sign had gone from here the first time i used the road after about three years after it had been removed. it's not just one sign that is removed though is it. When the road is not 30 there are repeater signs along the road as well. Observation is important when driving, i drive a lot and many times remember when roads had higher speed limits posted that no longer exist. I also remember many country roads being National speed limit and it was down to the driver to read the warning triangles for bends etc and slow down for them. Most of those roads have now been allocated lower speeds for there entire length because numpties need telling what to do, otherwise they would belt round at the National speed limit and blame the Council for not telling them to slow down. I was not saying that "you" don't look out of your windscreen personally. I was saying modern Drivers rely too much on in Car instruments to drive their vehicle, hence the sign recognition nonsense, which distracts from Driving the car with proper observation. If you include yourself that's your decision not mine.
  8. The people who live there, who use it most i would expect, were notified more than two years before implementation. They had an opportunity to express their concerns. If i can find it now Two years later there is no excuse for not knowing it has changed. It does make me realise why cars now need traffic sign recognition though, apparently drivers nowadays don't look out of the windscreen anymore.
  9. Public consultation started in June/July 2022
  10. If the road was a thirty going into a forty and now it's no longer forty, just taking the sign away that changed it to 40 is all that is necessary. Signs are only needed when the road speed changes as you drive along it. Not when it happened earlier in the year. Councils usually run a public awareness campaign when it's happening
  11. I have seen stats for the Passat at 18.5 Gallons capacity
  12. 50 mpg at an average speed of 36mph sounds good to me?
  13. Hope the info helps you sort it out
  14. Tank apparentley 18litres so if it said it was low and you only put 10 in I don't see what you did wrong. Did you turn ignition on without starting the engine for 30 secs if not maybe do it now?
  15. Check they play normally elsewhere then check the sampling rate/speed https://ownersmanuals.blob.core.windows.net/ownersmanuals/en/Octavia_5E/07-2018/OwnersManual.pdf
  16. https://www.theaa.com/mot/advice/what-do-i-do-if-my-mot-fails
  17. A good place for an independent MOT is the Local council yard/garage
  18. So you can drive the car from the testing station because the old MOT is still valid, The Police would only be interested if it was flagged as Dangerous. If the light has only just come on it would be unlikely the pads were dangerous
