  1. And so the work begins. Getting ready to be shipped off for repair!
  2. If you could get the error code , it would offer further insight. Even after the engine light going out, the code would still be stored.
  3. It's my understanding that, yes you have to remove the ISO covers and surrounds. The hard part is getting the back clips unhooked.
  4. Ok, so after speaking to my mechanic and the crowd that do the repair, I've opted to go for the repair method. I'll have 2 years warranty with the repair as opposed to none if I do it myself. Funny thing was, at the garage they'd just received a VW Tiguan ( I think) same DSG, same issue. So both units will be going to be rebuilt 😁
  5. After a bit of research it looks like I have 3 options. 1: Purchase a new Mechatronics unit from Main dealer for €1350+ VAT - No current ETA ! 2: Remove Mech unit and ship for a rebuild. €500 Inc Vat 3: Remove Mech unit and replace the pressure sensors my self. €270 Inc Vat. Option 2, I have found a few places in Europe that offer this service: Transmission-online.shop Seems to offer the best value. ECU Doctor ECU.de Has a collection service. Option 3, purchase the sensors. Lots to be found in China or US but I am unsure on the Chinese ones . Found one Slovakia that looks reasonable. 4X4Parte.com On top of all this I'll need new DSG oil 😁 Anyone got any thoughts on this?
  6. Just to add to this, the error only appears when the gearbox is up to temperature from what I've discovered.
  7. Howdy, just returned from holidays and a 350KM trek from the airport back home, on the way I lost 4/7ths of a gearbox! Emergency mode 2,4,6 only. Checked the code immediately: 10666 – Position sensor for clutch 1: Electrical malfunction. I wasn't too happy ! I had one or too other errors too , ACC etc. cleared them all but after another 10KM the 10666 came back. I have the 190BHP 7 Speed DSG, so I assume it's the DQ381 0GC, Wet Clutch. The fluid was changed 3 months ago. I have 220k KM on the clock. Having had a quick Google it's looking like a new Mechatronics unit is required. What's everyones opinion on this? I've seen a few places that offer to rebuild my existing one , that is then plug and play As opposed to purchasing a new one and getting it coded. Anyone else had this issue recently? Anything else worth trying before I start spending?

  9. It could be anything no? Wiring loom in the hinge to the door , any other faults ?
  10. Have you the correct engine code selected? On my version there are 2 the same. Here's mine for comparison:
  11. Your best bet is to get a multimeter and the fuse chart. Lock the car when you're inside it and measure each fuse. I know from other VAG cars some fuses don't lose power until 30 secs after the car is locked, but reactivates when you unlock the car.
  12. Can you tell me more about "remember DSG after restart"?
  13. When you adjust it manually, does it move correctly? I had an issue where RHS was selected and it would move the left in a different direction!
  14. I looked at this option, parts were quite expensive. I couldn't verify would my phone fit with the door closed. I also keep my AAWireless there too. In the end I purchased a wireless charging mat for automotive use. It currently sits under the armrest where I retrofitted a USB A&C Charging port. The existing USB port is current limited and I blew the hardware fuse twice. Requiring a reboot of the Head unit to restore power. Others may have better solutions though.
  15. Or is it just a USB power supply, 5VDC only? Taking power from the 12V rail in the Rear View mirror unit?
  16. This is something I have also considered. My favourite part of the guide though... "It would seem that everything is simple?! Ha! NOW! This is where dancing with a tambourine, Russian ditties and screams for the whole district begins. If anyone has heard, I apologize".
  17. I wonder did someone code the DRL's to full brightness when full lights are on. And it's using the same dimming value for parking lights.
  18. The consensus seems to the VAG DPF is usually spot on, once you have the correct endgine code. I'll drive on for now, I've a fairly clean run to work and back so never had DPF issues before. I'll just keep an eye on it. You've put my mind to rest about the regular regens though for now 😁
  19. Ah so I'm not the only one! And you have a much lower pressure differential. Maybe it's the difference between distance after a regen?
  20. You're making me nervous now. My differential pressure is 32hPa recently after a regen. Mine does seem to regen more than my previous car, A4 2009 2.0 Diesel (no adblue, that used to do it every 2nd tank of fuel. Now it feels like twice or three times a tank in the Superb(adblue). Is this normal ?
  21. What kind of money for the wrap ? Just out of curiosity 😉 Oooooo.. I need more info on this 😁
  22. I used the Action Can SP 90, it has no smell or a neutral smell. Its the same as the WD40 version that Graham used above I think. I know Wurth make one too but it has a strong after smell.
  23. Top and centre ones. I have done all of the previously. Also this silicone spray is very good for lubricant the electric windows at the edges on the seals. If you notice a difference in speed between the 4 windows then lubricating the points of friction makes a massive difference. This is also the same stuff used to lubricate rubber brushings in the suspension! Is there anything this stuff won't do 😂
  24. I had to give mine another spray too the other day, followed by the Air Vent re-calibration procedure, just to get the vents moving through all their positions. I spoke to a colleague about this, they also noted that the actuator can be external to the vent so spraying a lubricant might not always work. My theory is it's the shaft that gets dry and the Louvre rubbing off the vent piping. So spraying covers both, and also weaps along the shaft, eventually spreading through the mechanism. Anyway results speak for themselves, my vents are 99% quieter in their movements now and no error codes; temp limit of actuator reached etc.
  25. I've attempted several times to get my FL to coast in Normal D mode, no luck. I'm thinking it might only be the models without Drive select that so this?
