  1. This Mk III forum has become a right old ' Moanfest'. Mine has been fine. Sounds like I'm in the minority.
  2. These sensors aren't manufactured by Skoda. Probably find the same ones in many other marques. My mk ll had similar faults. It's a pain I know. But they were replaced under warranty.
  3. Bingo! Its witchcraft, I tell thee. They are now working :-)
  4. Cheers for the advise chaps, I will have a look tonight when I get chance to drive down some twistys in the dark.
  5. I can't see it working :-( How should I enable it? The lights swivel and go up and down when I switch on the ignition, so I know the motors are functioning. I have gone into the settings via 'mode' and set it at 'Sport' and 'Normal'. Should I be able to see the headlights turn as I go round corners? 'Cause they don't in either 'Sport' or 'Normal'. Makes me wonder if they are knacked..
  6. Tried different angles on the vanes, everything. It's something in the guts, not at the vents.
  7. Yeah! Thought it mat be something like that. Odd I never had it on my old one
  8. I overestimated at 13k a year on I have done 7800. Well within, quite unexpected.
  9. Anybody had these? Braking noise... It only occurs at slow speed manoeuvre. For instance three point turns etc. Hit the brake pedal in reverse more than forward and I am getting this sharp knock from the rear. Similar noise to the pads sticking to lightly rusted disks after washing the car. It's not this because it's when you APPLY the brakes. It's like the inertia of the car moving something out of position. Whistling noise.. Occurs when I turn on the fan. Constant low level whistle which goes when I crank up the fan to full blast. It's like a leaf stuck in the ducting, or some kind of obstruction, maybe badly aligned duct. Not sure if it's been there since new, but now I have noticed it it's like chinese water torture :-(
  10. Not so much as lack of winter tyres at all that bring the nation to it's knees with a few inches of snow. More to do with the fact that our infrastructure is ill equipped to deal with snow when it arrives. It's simply not worth councils investing millions in snow blowers and ploughs when we get one or two bad winters per decade. I might consider investing in tyres if I thought it was necessary for me. But I have never felt the need
  11. I'm talking about the kind of conditions that winter tyres would be completely useless in. The kind of conditions that the AA and RAC advise you NOT to travel in. The conditions that that leave you stranded in a car overnight. That's when I turn back. Winter tyres or not.
  12. Been driving for 25 years in the UK. Never had use for Winter tyres, rarely been in a situation where I thought 'Wish I had them on'... When it has been so bad, which has been about three occasions in the last 10 years, I turn round and **** off back home. I suppose if they insist we have to have them them I will have to bite the bullet.
  13. CANTON is a let down. I have it. I have encoded all my MP3 to 320 kbps and loaded the same files onto my phone lossless. I can not tell the difference with this system. It is odd how CANTON deals better with certain types of bass frequency. I have played this... the system really struggles with. The bass gets woolly and the speakers start to lose control. Yet I can play this.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP22gQC2qSs and it sounds brilliant even at 192 kpbs. I find anything with punching bass really loses out, rock music with dense sound suffers the most, yet play summat like Gregory Porter..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNwfUanmihY It copes well. So if you are into Jazz it's great, but throw Bad Company's 'Can't Get Enough of Your love' at it and it all gets rather messy. I like bass in music but I think CANTON handles soft but rich bass well, yet it flounders badly with hard defined low end. So Hip Hop comes off the worst.
  14. Yep! Mine does the same. vRS TSI. floor it and it's like the wake of the flying scotsman. Scared me at first
  15. Paint finish on my Corrida red vRS is like glass. Best finish I have ever seen on any of my cars. Mine was parked next to a red focus at benfield Skoda/Ford on hand over. Both brand new motors. The paint on mine put the Ford to shame.
  16. The seat base cover on my 1Year old vRS has started to bag a bit too, I'm 11 1/2 stone soaking wet. It goes back to shape after a while. Bugs me.
  17. Jesus! Nowt wrong with Amundsen and I would imagine Columbus too. Every weekend I punch a postcode into my Amundsen, It's only let me down once when I took my lad to play football in Barnsley only to find I ended up down a country lane with a dead end! Turns out the school was brand new and built off a new roundabout. I had the old maps, I updated the maps and the next day, checked with the same postcode and there was the new school. So lets' quash this uncertainty once and for all BOTH UNITS WILL SEARCH POSTCODES I admit it could be higher up, but I don't always look at the thing anyway. I just listen to the commands and glance at the maxidot. I had a Garmin NUVI in my old car and it was next to bloody useless, taking AGES to locate sats, constantly losing them, useless, just useless. Wires and charger strewn all over the place despite my best efforts to hide the buggers. I don't miss a standalone sat nav one bit. I don't have to worry about hiding it away in the glovebox or sticking it in my coat pocket when I leave the car either.
  18. odd! Been inputting post code's into my Amundsen for a year. Columbus must be crap.
  19. Estate looks much more cohesive as a piece of design. Almost as if they started with the combi and then thought F*** lets do the hatch now. Something oddly awkward about the rear of the hatch.
  20. Mine had the exact same problem. Stuck in 'Phone'. You could rock it back by pushing the opposite end, but it would not change function. Replaced last week under warranty. Waiting for the other one on the left to pack up next. There is some sort of spring mech beneath which is being prevented from returning the button to default. My guess is that is a temp thing. Button seemed to be catching on the housing Mine started with the onset of winter
  21. vRS tsi DSG. Is this odd? I flick the dsg stick back and the maxidot displays 'S'. Sound generator increases, engine blips on down shift as in double de clutch. You can see the rev counter spike. As expected shift pattern changes to 'sport'. I look on the infotainment but icon displays 'Normal' I flick the dsg again and maxidot displays 'D'. Shift pattern reverts to normal. BUT, sound generator clearly stays in 'sport' mode, ie loud, no double de clutch blip on down shift. I look on the infotainment on the Amundsen and the icon is 'Normal'. I can change the mode via mode button as expected and the icons work by touch as normal and the modes on the infotainment then tally with the maxidot. It doesn't particularly bother me, as I seem to be able to have the sound generator on loud whilst the gearbox is clearly in normal. Strikes me as odd, anyhow.
  22. My car is a TSI. Horrible vibration in sport until I took it to be fixed. Now it sounds much better, and more natural. Apart from the vibration, the hard edge seems to have been taken off the faux noise, which is probably down to the insulation they have packed in to dampen the offending cable.
  23. Bugger! My maxidot button has started sticking rendering the whole thing useless. How long does this new part take to arrive I wonder? Sound generator also vibrates, has done since new. Might as well get that fixed too at the same time.
  24. My Lad goes to KJS in K boro. Not a bad school if not a bit busy. Cheapest property is probably Starbeck. Stonefall Avenue and The Avenue have some really nice period terraces. These are very deceptive and are big when have a look inside. seems to be a ceiling of around 250K on most. 350K for the really big ones. The same houses on the north side of town go for around 400 to 500K repectively. You get a hell of a lot of bricks and mortar for the pretty green in St Arbeck. Prices are depressed mainly because of the scratter element in and around the St Andrews estate, which, as it happens is across the border in HARROGATE! Oh! and while I think on you get a HG2 HG1 postcode in Starbeck. Which weirdly makes for cheap car insurance.
  25. Have you filled your SD card with a Mac? Might be duplicate metadata stuff.
