  1. Plus there's that niggling annoyance of the faux exhaust tip and the sound generator over a diesel engine which frankly makes the car sound like a knacked in old truck.
  2. It's a difficult one this. He will almost certainly notice the difference between the diesel and the petrol IF he gets in the tsi and drives it for any length of time. Swapping over to the diesel he will love not seeing the fuel needle nose dive, but miss the refinement and driving pleasure of the tsi. I'm sorry but the petrol is simply leagues ahead of the diesel for a pure driving experience, no derv head can convince me otherwise. Driving a tsi costs more. That is the choice. I took the tsi route after spending five years in a CR MK II vRS, before the CR I had a Petrol vRS and regretted changing to diesel.. I don't miss the noise, I do miss the economy.
  3. Fabulous engine. The only powerplant that is deserving of the vRS moniker.
  4. All cars do it. Turbulence within the cabin. Where is the air going to go when it enters the car at 60 mph? It's going to swirl round the cabin like a b@stard. How can anybody be surprised when this happens? EVERY car I have ever had did it. As others have said, just open another window and the ear drum buffeting is gone or reduced.
  5. My dad's Yeti is fitted with a Westfalia, factory fit.Checked. This has been available aftermarket for some time.
  6. Sister in law lives in Surrey. Shamley Green, I have never seen anywhere like it.. absolutely rammed full of utter W****** of the very highest order. Miserable fake place. Hate it. Half of them don't have a penny, are clearly up to their eyeballs in debt just to play the 'Surrey Game'. She has fallen into the same trap. I honestly don't know how they sleep at night. It really is a different planet. So refreshing when we get back to home to Yorkshire after a visit. 27.7 mpg vRS tsi 1600 miles
  7. Towbar prep will allow you to disable reversing sensors (I would think). I am getting a Westfalia one which looks identical to the one fitted to my Dad's Yeti ( Factory fit ). Harrogate Towbars have already fit these to a few vRS's. The bar is detachable, and there is no visible cue it is there at all when you remove the tow ball. The hook up swings up and out of sight. They do have to cut a square out of the underside of the bumper, but you cannot see it unless you get on hands and knees to look underneath. I am just going for a single electric for a trailer. To have the full system with the reversing sensor cut off is hideously expensive, they have to rip the whole of the dashboard out to fit a controller. No thanks!!
  8. I know there's a 'Creak' thread. But my steering hisses on full lock. Normal?
  9. Done mine today. Snow foam, wash machine polish, re wash sealant. . Collinite wax. Paint like glass
  10. I expect mine to improve, only just past 1000 miles
  11. Actually,I over estimated my mileage to be on the safe side for the PCP. Looking at the mileage on my old vRS diesel, it was not far north of 50K over 5 years. Think it had a bit more on it. I have traditionally done about 10K a year give or take. I am actually looking at about 760 quid. :-))
  12. 900 quid a year is a tidy sum. Well spent :-)
  13. My average is creeping up to 28 now. I have to agree with you on the petrol though. It's a revelation after five years of driving a MKII vRS oil burner. Reckon I do about 11-12 K a year, might end up spending a bit more on fuel, can't be arsed to do the calc. It was and still is a bit alarming watching the fuel gauge drop like a stone though. Funny I don't really remember a massive difference when I switched my old MK II petrol RS for my latter diesel, which makes me wonder if the new tsi is actually LESS efficient than the previous generation 197 BHP unit. I wonder if anyone here has gone directly from the MK II petrol to the MK III petrol vRS. What do you think back to back comparison??
  14. Glad I took the plunge in October for the 0% with 5% discount.. Beginning to look like the correct call. Not that it was intentional, I also missed the early adopter syndrome.
  15. Seem like changes just for the sake of it. Largely pointless.
  16. Staggering! No way would I have paid for that. Mine had the same issue. My wife rang to say she could not get out of the car, she had to climb over to the passenger side to get out. Rang the dealers and they said bring it in, no question about charging me. None. Incidentally, I never took it in as it has not done it since, odd. I am sure they would not charge me if it happened again 6 months down the line. You've been had. Kick up a stink!
  17. I think the fabric looks a bit 'low rent' because of the shine on it, makes it appear thin, but in reality, I don't think it is at all. The fabric should have had more of a matt less reflective sheen on it.. in my opinion.
  18. I have a petrol vRS estate, and I get the 'resonance' too. Low speed and on certain road surfaces. Weirdly, my wife can't hear it! I think it has something to do with tyres and my sonic sensitivity with certain frequencies.
  19. I honestly think some people must have spines largely constructed of sticky back plastic, cardboard and string. Nothing wrong with vRS ride AT ALL. Get a grip fer christ sake :-) Not sure what sports springs would do to a rear torsion set up though.
  20. Over Snowdon Moor above Washburn Valley, Harrogate this eve
  21. Right, she is back and just put the sd in the car. I have saved my music files in folders, named as albums. I select a folder open and I get the track listings twice. The first 11 tracks of a 11 song album have the suffix dot underscore. IE.. '._songname.mp3'. These are all unplayable with red slashes through them. The playable tracks are below, and don't have the ._ suffix These are OK. Above the album folders I have three other folders named- .fsevenstd .Spotlight-V100 .Trashes Think I might have sussed it with blue harvest. Will check in the morning. Wouldn't mind sussing it with terminal though. Cheers Hope this helps :-)
  22. Hi mate, Unfortunately I cant check right now. My wife is out in the car. Pretty sure I saw a .trashes file along with others which were the names of the tracks, not sure of the suffix on these. Will have look. Thanks
  23. Cheers, What do I type into the terminal?? Might give it a go. The blue Harvest is available on a free trail, thats another option.
