Fabia monte carlo 2023 air recirculation
I was not meaning Fabia with 1.4 TSI,s and 8 speed autos. Skoda Fabia are not sold in the USA.

2.0tdi Jerky When Cold
Little idling while moving is good, sitting with an engine running might well be a different thing in Finland than in Ireland.

Fabia monte carlo 2023 air recirculation
Nice that in North America & Australia and other world regions you can get a 1.4 TSI non ACT with an 8 speed automatic. There the emissions are what they are and not what the queered testing in the EU / UK can give.

Fabia monte carlo 2023 air recirculation
Useful as a comparison between different cars that went through the WLTP regime. People will get better or worse or maybe exactly what the WLTP figure shows. Even a stopped watch is right twice a day. There is the system in the USA which is more realistic. EPA. It catches out the likes of VW Group. For ICE or EV,s it tends to show the consumption that EU / European Motoring Journals when doing reviews / group tests get in comparison to the WLTP. I do know a US Gallon is different from a Imperial Gallon. That is taken into account.

the truth about electric cars
Yorkshire might be part of a North England South England divide. But really North in the UK where tariffs and standing charges are higher and excess electricity can be generated is part of the divide. Paying for wind farms not to generate.

the truth about electric cars
It is tough titty that they can not get cheap offpeak tariffs without a working smart meter. At least they can charge at home at a standard tariff of like 30 pence a kWh. so 100 kWh £30 for 350 miles. Lots better than those with EV,s needing to use public chargers at double or even treble that.

Fuel economy
Was the Vauxhall a Euro 5 emissions car & 130 bhp? Best tyres might be ones with safe grip / traction levels since it is a AWD car, rather than ones giving better fuel efficiency / lower rolling resistance by offering less grip / friction / traction.

That Worldwide Harmonised Testing is not bothered about all around the World as it is kidology and not Real World any more than the RDE2 figures are. Certainly the testing is nothing to do with vehicles having to breath air in with is below 10*oC. TSI,s do love colder / denser air. Then if the same tyres are fitted as in the summer the road surface might well have less friction. But for swings and roundabouts there is the extra warming up times and loads put on the battery if turning stuff on.

2.0tdi Jerky When Cold
There is no benefit in idling. Get the glass clear inside and out and on your way. If you have a Gulf Filling station that sells their Super Diesel i would fill up. & give the car a good roasting once at operating temp. There is quite a detergent package in there diesel. Change the fuel filter if not done. ?When was the Air Filter last looked at or replaced?

In the North East of England i assume!

The AC is not operating if the ambient / outside temp is below 4*oC.

2025 Skoda Octavia: Can the Coasting/Neutral Roll Feature Be Disabled?
A MHEV is a whole different kettle of fish considering the need to use regen to charge the traction battery.

2021 Vrs Phev battery range
They can when the weather is cold. This is Winter, cold this week, not anything like as cold last week. AC might not be needed if no steaming up, and not that hot, and heating not needed if the temp you want in the car is much the same as outside. The beauty of Heated Seats and Steering wheels with BEV,s and even PHEV,s. & Heat pumps. Heated mirrors / wipers / lights / radio etc using battery energy and not traction battery energy.

2021 Vrs Phev battery range
^^^ Well that really depends on the Ambient temperature and then how much higher or lower than that you want the interior at.

Choosing all season tyres 205/45r16
Why not go for 195,s? I had 195/55 R 16,s and 205/45 R 16's. Check out the sizes available on the ASDA Tyre site. CrossClimate 3,s are probably all you need. Plenty choices in All Seasons with higher Load / Speed Ratings. XL sidewalls. ATS Euromaster. Michelin own them. MAXXIS AP3 on left, Vredstein right. Maxxis AP3,s reviewed in the AP2 thread, i had them fitted on a Fabia vRS & a Corsa Electric. Also Michelin Alpin 6 & Tigar Snow tyres.

Choosing all season tyres 205/45r16
Plenty threads in the Tyre section that might help. I have CrossClimate 3 on my EV. Ok on the snow yesterday. Price on them was very good. I had Maxxis AP3 on my MINI Electric last year, they were great. They went on instead of the Vredstein Quatrac Pro i fitted when i got the car. They were OK, not great in snow though. My 205/ 55 R 16" tyres are V 96 All were good in dry and wet / cold. There are Youtube tyre comparison vids linked in the threads.

The Petrol vs Diesel Dilemma
If you are filling up with Tesco Momentum 99 (99 ron min) in Scotland this winter it might well be 100 ron Plus and the Same winter E5 as bought on mainland Europe. But that can be the same anyplace in the UK. The base fuels are often stored after import along with Royal Dutch Shells fuel. & is not from UK refineries. Then there is the additives, and where these depots are.

The Petrol vs Diesel Dilemma
Plenty threads on here over the past years and how the Bio-Ethanol in E5 can very by Producer / Distributor or the Depots / Regions. From 0-5% Bio Ethanol. The TSI,s love the Bio-Ethanol and cold air. & the Formulation changes late October to March in the UK, starting oop north first.Itis less hygroscopic.

Oil Consumption & MPG Drop – Skoda Kodiaq 2023 2.0 TDI 200bhp Laurin & Klement 4x4
It is 'Expected' in the first 5,000 km to check the oil level. Another thing in the Owners Manual says about possibly using more oil than the 0.5 litres / 1,000 km. But then a Demonstraor at a Dealership might never get the oil checked in the 3,000 miles till they sell used or if a Warning Light shows. Then there are the cars with the oil low right from the PDI or the UPDI, or after a service.

2025 Skoda Octavia: Can the Coasting/Neutral Roll Feature Be Disabled?
Never heard of it related to Stop / Start.

the truth about electric cars
Looking forward to getting a wee shoty in a Peugeot e-208 GTI. The Abarth e-600 Scorpionissma was a hoot. One issue was tyres really just for dry roads fitted.

Oil Consumption & MPG Drop – Skoda Kodiaq 2023 2.0 TDI 200bhp Laurin & Klement 4x4
One idiot tech doing an official oil consumption test here thought a litre of oil was 1,000 grams. That owner got a new engine. These were the infamous 1.4 TSI Twinchargers. 0.3 litres in 1,000 km was excessive oil use.

Oil Consumption & MPG Drop – Skoda Kodiaq 2023 2.0 TDI 200bhp Laurin & Klement 4x4
Waiting for an oil light and being as low as 1 litre really is an issue. An issue with new cars / demonstrators and these then are used cars. How is the correct Oil Level being acheived, is it the engine AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, and checked after a few minutes, parked on the flat. Or is it the Stone Cold oil dipped? Running low oil levels like 1 litre low is working that oil hard,. & maybe using more oil.
