  1. BP Super Unleaded E5 is 97 ron min, and Shell V-Power 99 ron min. Tesco Momentum 99 (99 ron min) or Sainsburys 97 Ron min are maybe even better running fuels. Around the UK Esso 99 might have no Bio-ethanol in in some regions. TSI,s love Ethanol. No 98 ron Unleaded has been on sale in the UK for over a decade. VW FAQ,s say '98 octane' R / GTI. Your 1.5 TSI ACT does not mention 98 Octane does it? Does no harm using the E5, usually does good, higher octane, more detergents, but best you know what you buy... PS The 'Anti stall' seems to be faulty..
  2. A 2.0 TDI should have had the DQ250 DSG serviced twice then, oil & filter.
  3. Best go drive them and see. 70 mph is the same no matter what the BHP, how quick you get there might not be that much different. The smaller capacity engine might be not that much more fuel efficient, it depends how you drive. TSI is the engine be it 1.4 or 1.5, or 2.0. The DSG with the small capacity / power is a DQ200 DSG 7 speed dry clutch. The 2.0 with be a Wet Clutch DSG of 6 or 7 speed depending on age.
  4. Really important if looking at a 2.0 TSI or TDI with a DQ250 7 speed wet clutch DSG. @40,000 mile intervals. (1.6 TDI CR will be Cam belt, water pump, but DQ200 DSG with no Servicing schedule.) But are you looking at 1.4 TSI,s with a DQ200 7 speed Twin Dry clutch DSG also with no Oil or Filter Service Schedule for the DSG. Some might have had 1 or both oils replaced, maybe had Warranty work, a MCU or Clutches. (There is a Service Campaign on 2013-2015 DQ200,s, '34H6' started in 2017. A software update., 2009-2012 DQ200 DSG,s a Service campaign from 2014. Synthetic Oil changed to mineral and a software update.
  5. . Back in time.
  6. Apps & Over Air Updates can be total PITA. Great for Pre Conditioning, and knowing state of charging, or locking / unlocking vehicles or tracking. When they go wrong or are not available just so bad. This is why a went for a Simple BEV without any App or communications with a Smart Phone. Previous experiences so frustrating.
  7. BRITCARD. Maybe sometime and maybe just first for people getting first jobs or changing jobs. The UK can not organise a p!$$ up in a brewery. Can not get IT right or protect it. Can not actually procure at the right price. As for the DfT, DVLA, DVSA, HMRC, not fit for purpose. Decades of no ID cards in the UK or even the ne3ed to have a Plastic Driving Licence yet or actually produce one when asked by Officers of the Law in the UK. Politicians will be among those that will not be wanting to have every movement of their vehicles tracked. High time actually that VED / Insurance & MOT, Registered keeper was on a Card or Bar code on a vehicle for when being filled up at Filling Stations, or when entering car parks, official properties etc etc. All vehicles, Royals, Diplomats, Civil Servants, Politicians, & Joe or Jane bloggs.
  8. For those with newer cars, Check for the Service Campaign Software Update.
  9. Since in the UK maybe best use the terms in UK English and not USA / North American English. Or other European terms. 'All Season / All Weather' 3 peak / Snow Certificated tyres. Not 'All Season' as in the Summer Bias tyres cars and vans get imported into the UK with, even AWD,s / 4x4,s in many cases. Winter, Snow, Studded, All Terrain, Wet Weather other terms or type names. PS Some of the All Season 3PMSF tyres sometimes come as Run Flats and some are Self Sealing. The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF are 'sel sealing'.
  10. Both Oil & Inspection Services, but there were Extras that were part of the Service Regime as on what is called Variable or Flexible Servicing. If doing to Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines, Advice, Specification or Schedule. Spark plugs changed which are a 4 year / 40,000 miles schedule item. Were they replaced.? Pollen filter is at 2 years / 20,000 miles. So has it had 2 filter changes. Has the Brake Fluid been changed @ 3 years / 30,000 miles?
  11. I splashed out £100 on bagging first dibs on a Twingo EV with the R-Pass.
  12. Obviously not confirmed pre Budget announcements or Leaks pre budget. May well happen or just more flying of kites to see what responses come. Articles being published or written by the Anti-EV journals or journalists and repeated by anyone. How much more can the UK,s Labour Government do to have even more people less interested in getting a BEV and in the journey towards Net Zero and lower emissions targets? Getting the 20% VAT rate down on Public Chargers is something that 'may well happen'. Bring the social divide a bit closer and maybe not have private drivers hit more than they are already while Business / Commercial BEV drivers are getting the incentives and VAT rebates.
  13. Not relevant really, Stop / Start disabled. But do you have 'Autohold' enabled. So once stopped and brake pedal pressed 'Autohold' can hold the car with the brakes with still in D or S?
  14. Proposed Hydrogen Filling Station and EV charging by the A90 just as there will be at the A9 outside Perth.
  15. Maybe there might be a reduced 62 MPH (100KM) or even to 100 MPH time. But then again the car might show as having only 80% available power and there is no actual reduced standing sprint to 62 mph. ICE cars, performance or not can have the reduced performance with Heat Soak', or at altitude or when not up to efficient temperature, or just on less than their optimum octane rated fuel.
  16. Yes. But not all BEV,s are the same in say the past 15 years of production. Reduced power available is really quite common in cold conditions, very hot conditions and even in the state of charge in the battery, not just small amounts of a reduction in certain cases. Just look at the various Vehicles, battery sizes, performances etc. 50 % available power reduction with many a BEV even less powerful ones might still mean a decent acceleration and max speed is still available. PS. A power meter / gauge or message / read out is pretty much standard to show available power.
  17. There is no Maintenance / Service Regime for a DQ200 7 speed dry clutch DSG. But a 2013-2015 should maybe have had Service Campaign '34H5 done since 2017. Maybe best avoid, then there is the 1.6 TDI CR having the FIX done or not, Water Pump & Timing belt, and not great reliability. You want good servicing just the same with a 2.0TDI and water pump and cambelt done.
  18. Vehicles with VED Class 'Disabled' will very very likely be treated just as now as far as being used in a ULEZ / LEZ zone as far as 'Parking goes' This allows vehicles old, big, high emission emitting exemptions.
  19. Snow Chains are allowed and not illegal on the Kings Highway. But, there needs to be total snow / ice cover and not to be used on Black Top. Maybe in the most extreme of conditions, in hills and glens and back roads. Where there are snow gates and snow gates closed and you are in that area within that snow bound area. Maybe not common, but it happens. When the emergency services are on unsuitable tyres like Police Vehicles, Fire Services, Ambulances etc there is nobody kicking off about you having on Chains or Studded tyres. If you have chains you can fit them just as you might fit Snow Socks until you do not need them.
  20. The Scottish way of stealing fuel. Put a hole in the bottom of the fuel tank.
  21. Yes a Oil & filter service, @ 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. Hard use @ 20,000. & now for a VAQ with a Mk4 it is @ 2 years / 20,000 miles.
  22. It is VW508 00 / 509 00. 508 00 TSI & 509 00 TDI. But it comes as VW508 00 / 509 00 Not backward compatible, pre 2018. If you want to use VW 504 00 / 507 00, so 0w 30 FS or 5w 40 FS III instead of 0w 20 FS IV then just do it. If you even wanted Non Long Life, Fixed Servicing with a TSI even after WLTP certification by VW Group use VW502 00, so 5 w 40 FS if you want.
  23. The DQ400-e 6 speed wet clutch DSG with a 1.4 or 1.5 TSI service regime is at 40,000 miles or sooner. It is not @ 4 years, and no DSG is by weeks/ months / years. Regardless of what a Skoda / VW Service chart shows, *Engine Oil & Filter services are Fixed Service Regime, 9,400 miles / 372 days. Because maybe the engine is not run often, long enough, unless you know you run it and want Variable / Flexible oil changes. Not recommended though. *
