Went to see Karoq in showroom - confused !!!

Featured Replies

All other models, even Scala and Kamiq, received updated dashboards and multimedia, and only the Karoq remained with the old configuration and an antique Bolero system!

That's it? Is this what the end of this successful car looks like?

Really unusual and stands out badly in its misery in the showroom, what a shame...

Wanted to buy it, but now I don't know !!!

HELP !!!

Don't know what you looked at but no new Karoq has the Bolero system & all have Virtual Cockpit. Only the entry level SE has the older looking Amundsen infotainment, everything else has the larger Columbus. Although Amundsen has its advantaged with more physical shortcuts & a real volume control. The shortcut buttons on Columbus are annoyingly out of reach for RHD.

Mine is a 2023/4 SE L and has the Amundsen and a virtual cockpit. The display is all configurable so it can be circular dials but i prefer a digital speed. (revs are along the top).

BTW I prefer the Amundsen to the Columbus as I have two physical knobs for volume and the menu scrolling which I prefer.

I suppose you get used to it but I hate that dashboard! Can it be made to look like the old one, with twin dials for rev counter and speedo?

When we bought our used SEL in mid 23 it was a pre-facelift one (facelift was Mar 22) so has the twin analogue dials. It's so easy to look at. We ordered a new Karoq at the same time, but when it arrived the dealer told us it had the standard digital display as we hadn't spec'd the upgraded one. The cost to change cars was way higher than the dealer had said so we refused the new one anyway.

Have look this video for the current spec. Virtual Cockpit is covered from 4:30.

Good video. However after a year of driving I prefer the version I have, which surprised me, it's less cluttered.

The dashboard in the photos looks like the one in a base level Scala i had as a loan car. The configurable part is much smaller than in my Karoq, and I couldn't get any configuration with two dials.

@DaveLees

Apple's HEIC image format isn't supported on this forum.

Never mind this forum, heic files are not widely supported anywhere (not natively on Win11). Even where they are "supported" the support for differing versions is patchy. Several camera makers interpreted the specifications differently and added their own extensions. It is going to be a while before the mess is sorted out and things properly standardized. There won't be much support in forums and other places until this happens. By that time there is likely to be a new standard people work to.

So the rule of thumb is don't post heic files.

Odd. They worked for me on Windows 10.

@Joel_S. what Trim of Karoq was it you were looking at, and were there no others like a demonstrator to look at?

hiec is not supported natively on Win10 or Win11. There is an add-on that for MS Photos that supports some heic variants, but you have to pay for it. I have a couple of apps that do support heic. However, most forums don't support that format. Your best bet is JPG and PNG

Demonstrators tend to be 6 months old and more rather than less in spec. Mine was an SE L with a few nice bits thrown in.

@chills Must be your experience. Oop north, top spec often ordered and doing the 3,000 miles / 3 months without Grubby public hands on them. Bargain for employees and Family members etc. Brand New Spec delivered before Customer Orders. Often in a brighter colour to be noticed out and about. Parked up ready for Managers, Sales Execs, etc etc. Very rare a potential buyer gets a shotty in them....

The Showroom cars if not First Registered now, will be before the end of this month, be them sold or not.

A friend's car, I'll check again, maybe I was wrong...

My SE L was the "special" Red 6 months old and 3,400 on the clock and immaculate. Had a dash cam fitted (hard-wired to ignition with no visible wiring) 4 hooks in back rather than 2, the mat in the boot, vario-flex seats, rear tablet holders, the door kick plates etc. heated seats. We weren't offered it first, but we were picky about the 2nd had cars they did show us. So it was almost a last resort, it may have been intended for one of the staff if not sold to us. IT saved us 30% on list and had a service etc before we got it. Also looking at the digital manual, a couple of updates had been done to it. As far as I was concerned, it is a new car that a main dealer had done the shake down, running in and servicing.

To the OP I would say go and look at the Škoda website for 2nd hand cars https://www.skoda.co.uk/used-cars/karoq

I assume you are looking at used, as the Bolero hasn't been on new Karoq AFAIK for several years. You have a better chance of finding what you are looking for.
