  1. Fine, I'll go on some Philips lamp in order to replace my a bit fainty main beams. Thanks a lot
  2. In your opinion would this HID kit make sense for replacing standard main beam? Thank you,
  3. Well, bynow I drove for many kms fiat, citroen (AX GT), peugeot (205), opel (previous astra, vectra, and actual corsa), renault (Megane I and II), honda jazz and my skoda. The 205 (1.4) was honest but nothing particular. My skoda is way better than all of these, although the "panel" shows very different cars. I remember with love my AX GT, but perhaps because I was younger
  4. Ahem, on my PD (not CR) I hardly achieve advertised figure, as it happens I hardly coast and cruise. There're not advertised figures for going WOT :D:D:D:D
  5. Infact I'm reading a mere 30Kg difference on cartuningcentral.com... Hmm, I'll look on my car papers... Thank you, Stefano
  6. Hi all, this morning I was reading the weight figures of my VRS TDI and just stared at TFSI ones  They're about 200Kg less!!! Now, do all of this weight come from engine? How's that possible? What would be the heavier items? Is it possible to achieve some weight reduction w/o sacrificing safety or comfort?
  7. Hi, don't know for your TFSI. AFAIK a stiffer front ARB would improve understeer.
  8. New entry: APR Motorsport 27mm Rear Swaybar (Golf V) - Adjustable and - separately - front 27mm. Autotech 3-way adjustable 25mm (Golf V) - separately- front 25mm.
  9. Is Audience HU sound quality noticeably better than stream mp3? TIA
  10. No dyno around, but with chippeduk my octy is way smoother and faster. She burns less fuel (given a speed, of course) and makes less noise, too!
  11. Might this be of interest? TurnFast! • Driving Techniques
  12. Just to share a link to driving techniques I just found: TurnFast! • Driving Techniques @Chris: this morning on very wet road I decided to pay attention to anticipate turning points and avoid any brake after turn in point. I've got a feeling to be smooth and quick with way less effort. Still practicing... as I sure have room for improving
  13. Hotdog, if you play with the switch (full rotation counter or clockwise, can't remember now) you'll find you can disable the twin motion and adjust each one. Otherwise there should be an option available from maxidot (if you have one). HTH
  14. Is it the same soundsystem of Passat or EOS?
  15. Great! I'm aware of such satisfactions, as my first car was a growly AX GT 1360cc (carburettors, of course), it weighted less than 800Kg... just about half of the octy.
  16. My Italian VRS TDI has the warning light function. I find it pretty smart!
  17. Ciao, I must say that I couldn't yet find a better video of the piece of road I was talking to, but I hardly could recognize it from how sloooow it's driven in the video I tend to change lane much more (oh yes, I look at my mirrors ), although I'm typically faster than other cars. Besides, too sad they placed a system to evaluate average speed in the road after the tunnel: a friend of mine sitting in the rear of the Megane used to call it "toboga" :D ( )I think I still have to find the limits of my car (even if I've been driving it for more than 6 months, bynow)... while the driver of the small 500 was squeezing any bit from it and could almost follow me. Yes I had to brake for other cars in my lane, but its speed was too similar to mine, at least for my tastes... Chris, if I'm not wrong your Panda share the same platform, doesn't it?
  18. Thanks again, fact is in - at least a bunch of corners - I guess I have too conservatively shifted down when I might have avoided it... Corners as before tunnel on .
  19. Hi Chris, thank you. I guess I still have to have a serious approach to evaluate the maximum speed I can obtain on the several corners.
  20. Hi all, some evenings ago I was driving along my very cornering high-way back home and, after passing a small new 500, got almost tailgated by it  in a relatively slow and full of corners portion (sorry for my poor english). My tires have about 3mm so, I was not too confident to keep on "rubbing" them while cornering, anyway I feel I do have some speed improvement margin. Aside from a proper driving course, have you any hint to share (I'm not so new to "brisk" driving, as I daily run about 200miles on highways). Perhaps I'm too used to the comfortable riding offered by the vrs tdi, it seems to run on rails while when I was driving my tractor-like megane dci, I used to "screek" on almost any corner TIA P.S.: I've just read ScoobyChris Cornering Part 2. Sorry for having bored with a dummy question. Would it be sensible to make ScoobyChris' thread sticky?
  21. Tried and - sadly - in my octy vrs tdi the power is cut when braking...
  22. Really nice drawings, I must say! The latter is by no doubt felt as a Skoda, aside from the name you wrote on the plate I like the design of your front headlamps much more than those on latest Octavia restyling.
  23. Hi, there was a thread about ARB bushings and noise. Suggested recipe was to apply some water resistant grease. HTH
  24. Great! Mine started suffering from it at rear right suspension! Any particular grease?
