  1. Hello All, Nice new bluetooth unit fitted to my Scout (thanks to ... you know who )... Now anybody near Newbury with VAG-COM willing to do the coding for me ?
  2. In french, but the pictures may be helpful: Dé-siglage
  3. I have also had a quote for a detachable (£800+) one from Skoda dealer a couple of weeks ago.
  4. Any chance of a photo ? Did they do the electrics too?
  5. Well, it isn't too bad in the end, £190 all inc (2 hours labour). Now just have to wait for the parts... On the plus side I discovered (thanks to their cleaning) that the left armrest on top of the jumbo box slides forward, not sure I would ever have noticed it by myself! (I did take me a few minutes to work out what was different about my driving position though )
  6. I've tried but I can't find a way of getting my hand round the back of it to push it back. The fog-light well rim is missing and I can't work out what has happened to the washer jet, so it will have to go to the dealers.
  7. Hit a suicidal pheasant yesterday as I was driving at 70mph on the A417 dual carriageway... Couldn't swerve to avoid because of other traffic and did not have time to stop safely. I was quite surprissed to see the damage it has caused to my new Scout :( The foglight has been pushed all the way in, and the xenon light washer appears to have snapped off. Looks like it might be an expensive roadkill
  8. I've been quoted about £800 for it by local dealership...
  9. Sure she's not pulling an April Fool's on you..?
  10. Apologies if this has been already discussed, can't find reference to it. When having the climatronic set to auto with all vents working, the side-vents in my Scout seem to be putting out much more air than the central one. The only way to get a meaningful air-flow through the central vent seems to be to switch from auto to ventilation directed at your face... Is this normal? It's quite annoying in the mornings as I end up with one warm & one cold hand .
  11. Hmm... Practically makes me jealous! Sounds like a good level of add-on kit, not even sure there is anything else available - presuming the L&K version Scout (not available in the UK) comes with Xenons as standard?
  12. I thought the Scout's spare wheel was a space saver jobby, not full size... ???
  13. We're not talking anything half as adventurous as what thes guys did : ?koda Auto - Scout Experience Mission
  14. Agreed, and I believe I am keeping it safely within its limits, by quite a margin! Have had to beg for help from a farmer & tractor a couple of times in the past with a 2wd car, and have no intention of having to do that again!
  15. I've taken my Scout for a few ventures down some very muddy byways and through a ford (1.5 feet of water - upon reflection maybe a bit on the deep side ) and on the whole I think it is brilliant Been studying local OS map at the weekend trying to think of some other interesting places to take it ...
  16. Discovered today that you can change this yourself if you have Maxidot...
  17. Happened to me this morning, didn't notice radio go dead though (but it was on)... The bang / crack was definitely from the dash area above the radio. :(
  18. Been reading this old thread: http://briskoda.net/forums/octavia-ii/hill-hold-vrs/80775/ And picked up on the fact that in there someone says that when engaged "HOLD" will appear on Maxidot. But on my Scout nothing appears... Anybody else have this message on Maxidot? Also does anybody know if it can be made more sensitive (VAG-Com or Dealer adjust)? At the moment it will only engage on steepish hills, but ideally I'd like it to work whenever the car is stopped on an incline...
  19. Out of interest, are Simpsons the only UK dealers who are willing to fit the OEM bluetooth?
  20. Only had my Scout for a few days, but I can say that overtaking is really not a problem with standard 140bhp engine... Of course more power would be good expecially with 4wd, but I'd rather have 40+mpg. Other comments with car so far is that driving at motorway speed in the high winds we've been having has felt very comfortable & re-assuring, turning circle is excellent, no-rolling when cornering at reasonable speeds. Downsides refer more to Octavia range than the Scout in particular: Sun Visors look & feel cheap, struggling to adjust the radio sound properly to listen to spoken word channels such as R4, cruise control quite basic (no display on Maxidot). Oh, and I'd have liked someking of display on Maxidot which shows when the car is transferring power to rear wheels etc...
  21. I've joined the ranks, mod done within a few hours of having the car Good stuff!
  22. Thanks Stu. Had a look at the instructions on your website for the MFD2 and if the installation of the MFD3 is no more complex than that, I "should" be able to do it myself... A future project
  23. Was charged £70 labour on my Renault Megane by dealer for headlight bulb replacement. Hilarious (not that I found it so at the time) considering it is a French brand and in France you must be able to replace your lightbulbs by the roadside if stopped by police (not foglights though)...
  24. That's what I thought/assumed, so was a bit surprised by response. Will try another dealer tomorrow perhaps.
  25. Hello all, Local dealer has told me that the Columbus satnav cannot be retrofitted to a scout (which has multifunction steering wheel & maxidot):(. Does anybody know any differently, or is it just one of those things the dealers will not do? Oh and if it can be done, any ideas of cost?
