Mild Creaking Noise - Front Driver's Side Wheel
DJM123 replied to dunder101's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
No expert but sounds like arb bushes. The arb's also rust etc and cause creaking. If you replace the ARB would have thought it would be a couple hours labour as I think they have to drop sub frame so will also need wheel aligment. -
Remaps, Which one and Skoda Used Warranty
DJM123 replied to Hewey's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
As above. Mines booked in with AMD next week so will let you know. How long is your warranty for? Also would have thought they would only be abe to aoid paying if the failure can be proven to have been caused by remap? Guess the only way to find out for sure is the smal print. -
To buy....or not to buy....Golf Gti 25th Anniversary
DJM123 replied to SimonK24's topic in General Automotive Chat
The BBS Wheels. Loads of them were replaced under warranty due to corrossion etc durin winter months. Just make sure they aren't kerbed and they should be okay. -
Will be ordering for the octy. Thanks for the links.
-
Shouldn't leave any marks the rear is just glue so should polish out etc.. Not sure on the grill. Did the same on my ibiza cupra and the badge just cliped to the grill. Might just be able to pull the front one off?

vRS buying guide **Please read**
DJM123 replied to chicken_eyebrow's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Bloody hell Jamie. Good guide. Shouldn't you be working?! -
At the mileage you describe you'd be mad to buy diesel. If your into cars and I assume you are surely it has to be the petrol. Much more tuneable if you later want more power etc.. Also better performance straight out of the box. Good luck whichever you chose.

Any pics of the R32?
-
That would be the plan - sit them really wide and dropthe car to the floor. The only problem being I actually have to drive the car and cant afford to have to wory too much about bumps etc.. Wish I still had the ibiza now or a furby!
-
As above cambelt should be done at 4yrs. Also waterpump. Check central locking works and is all in order. Bushes etc.Check the front doesnt creak over bumps etc.. Other than that enjoy.

New to Skoda Octavia question for you?
DJM123 replied to Octavia_Taxi's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Octy 1. Check that cambelt and water pump have been changed at 4yr / 40k intervals. whats the mileage? Also check electrics such as central locking etc. Other than that enjoy! -
Cant stop looking at the D90's on ebay. There is another set on there as well. Think it would be difficult to get the right stance on the octy. i.e. would need a big drop to fill the arches and prob make it undriveable?
-
I like the LM's but love the D90's. If only they did 17's! I am tempted though. I like the LM's anyone know how heavy they are? Look like they weigh abit! Failling all og the above I like BBS CH's.
-
Or these? GENUINE BBS LM Split Rims 4 VW Bora Golf MK4 Audi A3 on eBay (end time 15-Aug-09 18:44:01 BST)
-
As per title saw these on Ebay: PORSCHE D90 ALLOY WHEELS MINT REFURBISHED,POLISHED,EURO on eBay (end time 12-Aug-09 19:15:32 BST) Always wanted them formy ibiza cupra. Think they wouldwork on a VRS with a drop?
-
Thats cheap! I got aquote from Adrian Flux when I had my Ibiza cupra, at the timeit was cheaperto insure it remapped than standard!
-
Why? How much do you pay?

ARB's are on back order so whenever they turn up will get it all done at once. Hopefully 1 - 2 weeks. Oh and wheel bearing Monday because itsunbelievably loud!
-
It would have to be the cupra. The brakes are awesome! 4 pot Brembos I think! (someone will no doubt correct me if im wrong)
-
Went to ##!!## today re dodgy wheelbearing, ended up ordering H & R front & rear ARB's, remap and divertor valve. I've been on hold for 10mins trying to sort insurance! P.S Jigger you local, fancy taking me for a spin sometime?
-
Read about hesitant delivery and flat spots etc.. The only reason I first thought of them is because they are quite local so I can take it back with little fuss if i need help etc..
-
Central locking as mentioned above by Jamie. Dont ask! It never ends just different bits need replacing!
-
