  1. If Skoda reduce the VAT on the Fabia vRS I cannot see why the dealers cannot pass this VAT change on to the customer. They only obstacle I can see is if you take delivery of the car before the offers starts. I did suggest this situation to the dealer when I was ordering my vRS ( still not built yet !) he said he would automatically alter my order to include the reduced VAT. Tomorrow I will have a "chat" to my dealer to sort out whats going on. I might even ADD some items to the order if the VAT change comes about. I have had an excellent relationship with my dealer for the last 7 years - I do hope this is not going to a major problem. John
  2. I hope you are correct. Though when I ordered the car I mentioned about possible future "Skoda Offers" and they said they would automatically move my order onto a better deal if one came up before I collected the car. I will make sure this is the case when I speak to them next week. John
  3. OK , this is getting more complicated. I received a leaflet through the post last week - my wife thought it was a Christmas card so did not open it until late last night - it was from the dealers. The 20% or no VAT offer was only for 2 days 29th/30th Dec and the car had to be in stock at the dealers ?? Thats why when I rang them about this they only offered me the demonstrator vRS - they had no other vRS's. John
  4. I rang yesterday. I am going to see them in person next week - first day the open. I am in no rush to change and the car has not been built yet. John
  5. I rang my dealer pretending to be a new vRS buyer.( naughty I know - but I wanted to get the bottom of this 20% discount situation) The only Fabia vRS he offered me at a discount was the demonstrator they had been using. Has anybody been offered a new (unregistered) Fabia vRS at a substancial discount ? John PS -this was yesterday
  6. I think they are not designed for frequent use. They get you out of difficult situation - very thick snow , a hill you cannot climb etc. Yep , just bought 4 bottles of the VAG screen wash - on offer at the dealers. BTW - the size of Autosock that fits the Mk 1 Fabia vRS ALSO fits the new Mk11 vRS John
  7. In anticipation of my Fabia vRS arriving - Mid Jan ??? Should only the dip beams be replaced with brighter bulbs - as they are used most often or both dip and main ? John
  8. Thats good news. Should with luck just be a one off problem , but I assume the dealer will inform Skoda so they can find out how this problem happened. John
  9. Wow ! Hope there is no other damage and the dealer sorts it out as soon as possible. All new vRS owners will be taking note. John
  10. Ok , lastest news on my Fabia vRS - was build week 50 2010 now build week 02 2011 John
  11. That's a strange omission - the warning is very useful particularly during the present road conditions. John
  12. I see - thanks for that , looking forward to trying it out in the car - if it ever arrives ! I think a few others will be following your idea. John
  13. Picked up a 250gb portable drive while the offer at Maplins is still on. Formatted the drive to FAT 32 without problems. What format do the cd tracks have to be to play from the 250gb portable hard drive through the midi system ? John
  14. 2.75% internet e-saver account on the approx £8000 you did not have to pay up front.( I know this will reduce as you make payments but it is still worth it. ) John
  15. Yep ,thats what I did. The money I would have given the dealer can earn interest so cutting down the actual price of the car. John
  16. I think what we both said is fine. I just wondered about quoting say the actual details in the article. John
  17. Thanks for telling us about the Autocar article. An interesting read especially the bit about the speed of the vRS round the wet track. I am a bit unsure about quoting info from the Autocar mag without infringing copyright. John
  18. OK , after a lot of searching I have found the new vRS in black magic with the dark chrome wheels. It has alloy wheel protectors on each wheel , which is the red ring. Looks OK to me. http://www.autoweb.co.uk/WSCarDetails.asp?cdID=12300450 John
  19. From a distance they look much darker - because they are in shadow all the time. Anyway if necessary paint the anthracite black John
  20. I have ordered the dark chrome wheels with magic black on a vRS. The dealer ( and my daughter ! ) thought it would look fine. John
  21. I got mine from :- http://www.3mselect.co.uk/c-410-scotchgard-protector-products.aspx?utm_term=scotchgard I used the stuff rated 4.8 out of 5 John
  22. Yep , planning to use the same stuff on my car ( if it ever arrives ) and my wifes new car. They had an offer of 3 cans for the price of 2. John
  23. I think a customer with a new vRS has had these fitted - according to the customer comments on their web site. I'm thinking about getting some. John
  24. I think they are about £44 ( +Postage) for a set of 4. John
