  1. Whats going on? There seems (on my screen ) to be 2 versions of this thread. One showing the pole results and one not. I have post in both
  2. Did someone remove my post? Was there a problem with it? EDIT - removed duplicate post
  3. If I travel with the speedo at 80mph I know its only in fact about 75/76mph. Don't the police/cameras work at about 78mph ?
  4. It was a very wet day round here today so I decided to try the Meguiars NXT Tech wax I bought a few days ago.( the Fabia is smaller than my old car so I can get round it to polish it in the garage) The results were brilliant!! I also liked the fact I could put the wax on the whole car then polish it off without having to do a little area at a time. There was hardly any streaking and the whole job took about 2 hours. They provided a handy foam applicator with the wax. I also bought the NXT spray wax - quick way of boosting the original wax. I have attached a pic. to try to show the finish. The reflections (on the bonnet ) are whats on my garage wall. EDIT - difficult to get back far enough in the garage - added another pic
  5. Nice pic. PS part number for your big radio aerial ? PPS - Not been anywhere in mine much yet. Unless I can find some interesting sites in Birmingham next Sunday.
  6. Got the Osram Silver Star on my Fabia. Much brighter and whiter than the original fit bulbs - cheap way to get better vision/range etc. Tried the Philips blue visions on previous car - obviously blue tinge but not the range of the Osrams. ( not tried vision plus )
  7. Same here. Started the engine with the seat belt undone - no warning light or beeps. It is in the Fabia manual p36 - so I assume at least one Fabia model has this feature.
  8. I think the bulb info in the latest manual is correct. I better not say what it says because this will probably start a huge number of posts on the subject
  9. I don't think I will mention traction control again for a while
  10. All I was trying to say was I was a bit confused at first until I checked the manual.
  11. To be fair it is a bit strange when the circle with the triangle in ( traction control ) is lit up on the dash board its OFF and when its not lit up its ON.
  12. I thought I would just check my previous car , so I put the reg. into the RAC search and it came up with a Ford Mondeo  - which was not my previous car. I tried my new car and it came up Fabia vRS in black which is correct Interesting !
  13. Is the fuel pump near the petrol tank? I think I have heard this noise when I have opened the hatch just after switching off the ignition. EDIT - Sorry forgot I was in the Octy section of the forum - but the above still could apply.
  14. Using the gps unit mine come out at :- 30mph speedo - 28mph gps 60mph speedo - 57mph gps 70mph speedo - 67mph gps 80mph speedo - 76mph gps
  15. At the end of the article it said that engine vibration and/or radio interference ( with the electronics ) could be reasons.
  16. In one of the Sunday papers :- Case in France of a Renault Vel Satis with a stuck cruise contol at 120 mph. It also said there had been several other cases involving this car and as many as one in ten other makes of car has had problems. Don't remember any posts about problems of this nature with Skodas.

    BioNAV

My knowledge of the fabia vRS is limited but I do have many years experience in handling/using BioNav units. I would suggest that reading the instruction manual ( if you did not get one with your unit they can be obtained from any good book shop ) would be a good idea because many of the posted problems could easily be avoided. A damaged unit could be costly and time consuming to repair.
  18. Don't have a problem with cyclists. If it could be shown that compulsary insurance would be a benefit to both cyclists and other road users I would go for that. A problem in my area has been motorised scooters , some of which have a petrol engine but the users usually have no insurance.
  19. This may seem silly ( and it could well be ) but would it be possible if the location of various parts ( that are often mentioned in posts) in both vRS models be located on a drawing/photo etc and if needed how to get into that part. Some examples :- diagnostic port - location / does have a cover ? ECU - location / easy / safe to remove ? air filter - location / how many screws to remove etc ? I could carry on , but you get the idea. Would this be any use to new members ?
  20. I used "wheel Wax " on mine I am not sure whether its any better than car wax but it was like putting on slightly melted butter but with the lovely smell of coconut , carnauba etc - wonder what its like on toast ?
  21. I've seen only three in the last couple of months , a red one was visiting my next door neighbour ! It gave me a good chance to talk to the owner and swap experiences. How many do you think there are in the UK ? 1600 ?
  22. Welcome Loula , Most points have been mentioned above or if you do a thread search that will give some further advice. In my case :- Vibration near gear lever - turned out to be the seat belt hitting the centre console. ( small piece of blu tack stopped it ) Watch your speed - at 70 mph the vRS is surprisingly quiet Seats - spray with ScotchGard or similar Find someone ( husband , boyfriend , parent - delete as required ) who has a pressure washer - I found it essential. On collection day have a good look at the car - check body work for paint quality , wheels for damage etc. - take someone with you is a good idea. OH! one other thing enjoy your new car
  23. Welcome , Black Velvet. Several people have asked this recently try this thread ( Fabia ) :- http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=13238
  24. But would these void the 3 year warranty ?
