  1. they are saying that the fluid used encourages the transmission slip. to be frank, the slip is quite horrible. so would it be ok to let them change the fluid to this ATF fully synthetic stuff? (i'll get the correct name later today) Edit: The grade of the transmission fluid is dexron 3
  2. no, i mean a normal auto box oil. when the dealer changed the transmission fluid (i apologise for using transmission fluid and gearbox oil interchangebly) the car had an automatic teansmission
  3. sorry for ressurrecting an old thread, but i really need some help. a local indy has informed me that the gearbox oil the local dealers use promote the transmission slip and also they overfilled the transmission. the indy is saying i need to change the fluid. they propose to fill it with the transmission fluid plus something which will help to clean out all the filings, then fill it with the "Fully synthetic atf" the indy seems to know alot about these vehicles, but i would just like some confirmation please cheers Peter
  4. Do a search for Peter Stephen Andrew Francis. i''ll be in the Barbados network. just mention briskoda please Peter
  5. I believe the front lights also require new wings
  6. check for water ingress in the driver's door window motor. if there is, some electrical cleaner should set it right
  7. where can the suction line be found? pics please
  8. the air coming out of the vents is nowhere near 4 degrees c. it is probably around 20 deg c when the engine is cool but the temp then rises until the air coming out of the vents is only about 2-5 deg below the current temp. and to correct my previous post, one of the fans is big and the other small.
  9. cheers stevos, but the fans didnt run like that a few years ago. the radiator fan would cut in and out as needed. but that fan was changed twice. i wonder if the stealers fitted the wrong fan. originally it had one big fan and a smaller fan. now both are big fans. any ideas?
  10. oh, thanks for that. but it wasnt always like that. when the car was new, only one fan would run when the ac was running. the other fan would cut in to cool the engine, now both fans are running. I'd just like a bit more confiemation please.
  11. Thanks for the pic of the connection. currently, both fans run when the air con is on, regardless if the car is just started or been running all day. The ac normally works well till the day hears up 30-35deg celsius. Then it behaves strangely. Pushing the ac button twice (turn off then turn on) seems to bring some amount of chill back into the cabin.
  12. can someone post a picture of this connection please
  13. Hi all, i am wondering, where are the relays for the power windows located? Much thanks for any replies
  14. You may have a great deal of experience, however, as much experience as you have, your assessment of this situation is likely to be influenced by other similar situations you ma have assessed, whether it be 1% influence or 100% influence. We all strive to be as objective as possible, however, unfortunately (or should that be fortunately) some sense of subjectivity plays a role.
  15. in the past 4-5 years with the octy, the average has been averaging 10.7 l/100km overall or 26.4MPG. this is at an ambient temp of 27-40 deg Centigrade. however i have been able to get around 8.7l/100km or 32.47MPG indicated on with a light foot at 40-50 MPH (speed limit down here). if anyone has been to barbados, you would know what i am talking about. Barbados can be considered urban with stop start traffic every 10-15 miles or just stopping and starting (Major stops) so i think this is fairly ok for a 1.6
