  1. I run ClamXav (iirc) every now and then to spot anything untoward, but I think I've captured one thing once when someone opened a dodgy email.
  2. I've a 170 diesel, but part of me would really love the 3.6. Maybe sometime in about 8 years when I've seen off the depreciation curve, or most of it.
  3. Good luck, hope you strike it lucky with the dealer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. That sucks dude. Fairly sure they do a 12 year and have done at least 10 for a while. http://www.skoda.co.uk/why-skoda/peace-of-mind/default On further reading there, looks like it covers rust internally, rather than externally. So maybe not much use? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Yep, with as much spec as you can get in your budget Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Do you travel much with the laptop? I've a MacBook Pro 15inch from somewhere around last May. I find it powerful enough to cope with anything I need, I don't do heavy gaming - but it handles the ones I've tried reasonably. It's much lighter than some of the bricks I've had in the past, but If I were lugging it around all day I'd choose a lighter one, an air or MacBook - if you're definitely wanting to Mac it. Pretty much all the processors will cope with light usage, word processing, music, movies well. You may even manage a light, simple laptop for travelling (air) and a more powerful desktop within the budget of one 'super' MacBook pro. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Congrats - nice to hear you're still enjoying it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks, good idea - I've edited the first post with a few more details.
  9. Wow - I'd probably add 5 seconds to that with my gear change abilities Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Hi I've been in touch with the Car Camera Shop recently, regarding the purchase of a Lukas dash cam (a new addition to their range). They mentioned a purchase of 5 or more will allow them to offer a discount, the size and nature of which depends on the number required. (The provisional discount 5% for a group of 5 or more.) At this point, I'd like to test the waters for appetite for a group buy, I'm looking at the Lukas dash cam, but the group buy needn't be limited to that model. So, if you're interested, please can you provide your preferred camera model below? If there's enough appetite, then I can firm up details with them to offer a fully fledged buy. Edit: Please visit the Car Camera Shop website to view their available products. I've listed some of the other models I've noticed people on the forum using, but suggest you read up and have a look at the range. (Prices as of 7 June 2015). The one's I've been looking at. Lukas LK-7950 £329.99 (1080p front & rear, wifi with app to view) Lukas LK-9750 £349.99 (1080p front & rear, with screen) I have a mi-witness at the moment, but the cameras are only 720p and 640x480 (rear) so a little behind many of these. Others, in no particular order: Mobius (single) £69.99 (1080p, also available in a dual package, no GPS) G1W £42.99 (720p, seems a good starter) Mini-0801 £74.99 (1080p, £5.00 more for GPS) Nextbase 202 £79.99 (720p) Blackvue 650-GW+2CH £289.99 (Front 1080p + Rear 720p, You'll probably need some extras with this - e.g. power magic haywire kit, currently has 32GB card with it). This group buy is not organised by BRISKODA, as such, they do not accept any legal liability if problems arise from the buy and cannot be held responsible for any wrong doing that may occur.
  11. Thanks. I see national pricing is 139 for a minor service - so it should be able to get to that level. I've periods of lots of low mileage, then much higher - so perhaps I'll follow the 10k rather than 20k intervals and be happy that'll cover it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I've been thinking about changing out my oil early on, having covered just over 1500 miles now, and when checking the oil through the dipstick it's fairly dark coloured. Local Dealer has quoted £153 to change, seems steep to me - or am I just a tight-wad? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I use iMovie on the Mac - pretty much drag and drop, can try to string together if that'll help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. It's a nice evolution on the outside, in pics anyway. Perhaps a little too conventional, maybe. It'll be good to see it in the flesh. The inside needs to be miles better than the MkII to tempt me out of mine earlier than planned
  15. Had a weird moment at the weekend. Sun was out and complaints of people being hot. So slapped on the Air Con, went for Low temp and Full speed - lasted a few seconds and then just cut itself out and wouldn't start again. So, windows and Pano were opened and air con turned off. One stop-stop start later I tried the air con again and it was fine. I've not replicated it since - anyone else experienced anything similar? We were city driving - so I wonder if the power surge just caused the BUS to cut air con? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I have the Exodus bars from Halfords - so far, so good. Details in this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/index.php?/topic/351557-Ebay-roof-bars%E2%80%A6/page__view__findpost__p__4215333 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I actually really like that, except the stripes at the front. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Wow, quite the spread. I'm 35, now with a SuperB Estate. Had a Octavia VRS Estate from 28 and a Mk1 hatch at 23. Not had a reason to change brand as yet as each car has suited my needs and budget very well so far. I think the estates tend to be some of the better looking ones on the market too. 19. There's a section on emergency locking and unlocking, where you use the key for the drivers door, and flip a manual switch for doors without a bolt. It's not clear if you need the battery connected - but I suppose you could trial run at home, keeping one of the doors open just in case Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. So far: How much quieter it is than my MkII Octavia vRS. More leg room for kids = less kicking in the back. CR170 smooth and pulls well, I find it pretty quiet too. Pano roof. Width inside, passenger and driver can use the arm rest! Bluetooth music through Columbus. Understated looks.
  21. Absolutely mental, when I passed them, they appeared to have no idea of what they'd just done. Impressed with Truck drivers reactions - more so as you mention the weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Possibly the worst moment in my drive to Whitney and back today - very close call.
  23. My first was a 2001 Octavia vRS hatch, bought in 2003 with 40 odd thousand miles a which made it affordable for me. I simply loved the look of them, and much preferred it to the Golf and others of the time. After 4 years and 100,000 or so miles, Sold as I was doing loads of mileage and becoming a dad - decided to get a diesel estate vRS, and after 7 more years moved on to a Superb. I've been fortunate enough to be able to buy the last couple new, last one cost me about 13k over 8 years - which I don't think is too bad for a car that I enjoyed over the whole period. So far I've had reliable and enjoyable and I feel, good value motoring, with a couple of hiccups on the first octavia - a clutch, a water pump and a couple of accidents.
