  1. Yeah I get that, and the service manager has given me his word that it’ll be fine. Appreciate your reply buddy.
  2. That did cross my mind too. The word “warranty” has not even been muttered by the service manager, he just confirmed that it leaks and proceeded to tell me that he had ordered a new roof from the factory. That’s it, the “w” word not mentioned.
  3. Thanks for your reply. Well, the service manager called me today and explained that despite there being no physical damage to the pano roof, Skoda have instructed that if it has to be removed (which it would do if they just re bonded it) then a whole new roof is required. Ok, fair enough, I guess I’m just concerned about any damage that might occur with the removing and replacing the roof. The headlining has to be removed, the electric sun blind has to be removed and anything else that might need to be removed. I told the service manager that I will be going over the whole car with a fine toothed comb once it’s done, as previous experience with other warranty work and/or repairs has left me pretty cynical of dealer “technicians”. Let’s see.
  4. Hi all, I’m after some advice please. So, had my Kamiq MC for about 2 months and after a week or two noticed that the spare wheel well had about 1/2 inch of clear odourless water in it. I syringed it all out and dried it up and kind of wondered whether it was after washing it a few days beforehand and perhaps not fully shutting the tailgate. The next time it rained I again checked the boot and found another shallow puddle of water, so obviously I knew I had a leak somewhere, great. The Service Manager at my nearest main dealer collected my car a few days ago to investigate, and after carrying out water tests confirmed that I did indeed have a leak. He had to order a longer endoscope as the one they had wasn’t long enough. He called after a couple of days and told me that the leak was coming from the pano roof and the water finding its way down the bodywork and into the spare wheel well. Nothing inside the car is damp/wet, the carpets, seats and headlining is bone dry. This is the part I’d like advice about. He told me that he has had to order a brand new pano roof from the factory in Czech, which will take about 10 days plus to arrive. A new roof?? As far as I can tell the roof on my car has zero damage and he didn’t mention to me that the leak was down to any damage either. I just put it down to it not having been bonded properly at the factory when it was built, so in my ignorant head I’m thinking that it can just be re bonded?? Im more than concerned about my car having to be stripped of its headliner and whatever else it may involve, just to replace an undamaged pano roof with a new one. Am I missing something here? I didn’t ask the question when he called me and I tried speaking to him today but he wasn’t in. He’s going to call me tomorrow so I will ask him then. But, why would they need to replace a whole roof when as far as I’m assuming the leak is only down to a section that hasn’t been bonded properly?? Please, can anyone offer any advice and/or words of wisdom. Thank you.
  5. No, I don’t. Granted, this subject can be inflammatory so I probably should have not expressed my opinion so openly BUT nobody can deny the huge detrimental impact it has had on us all. If your opinion is different then fine, no dramas.
  6. I nearly pulled the trigger on a 22 Kamiq but I couldn’t imagine rear manual windows, that’s prehistoric. In the end I got a 21 plate Monte Carlo WITH rear electric windows.. The world has gone mad.
  7. Yeah I know, I’ve read several stories over the years about rodents chewing through wiring etc, it just sounds ridiculous that’s all.
  8. Get an iPhone. Soz, it was lined up🤷‍♂️😉
  9. Fair enough. Maybe I am blinkered by my first Skoda owning experience then. I had the Fabia vRS from new and owned it for 14 years. In all those years of ownership it only developed one fault when the drivers side window regulator failed, and it was replaced under warranty. A 14 year old car with that track record is almost unprecedented, and it was driven daily. Dont get me wrong, I’m fully aware that I was probably just lucky but even so, that level of reliability can only strengthen a manufacturers reputation. I don’t know whether Skoda cars and Skoda themselves have since nosedived in terms of quality control and customer service, but I did extensively review the Kamiq before purchase and heard nothing but good things about them. Maybe some of you owners over the last 10 years or so will tell me different. All I know is that they APPEAR to still be of very good quality, but I suppose time will tell if my second ownership experience will at least resemble my first🤞
  10. A used ex main dealer demo with very low miles and in pristine condition. Not pointless at all, considering it’s condition, fit and finish and materials are identical to that of a brand new one. This isn’t my first Skoda and inbetween my first and this I’ve had two Audi A3’s, and BMW and the new Peugeot 208 GT (which incidentally cost more than the Kamiq MC, and far inferior in terms of quality etc). The 208 I traded in for the Kamiq was the top of the range, the Kamiq I have now is top of the range, and I’m telling you that the Skoda is far better made with much nicer materials. I’ve been driving for 30+ years mate, and driven some dogs and some great cars, so I think I can recognise what’s good and what isn’t. You clearly aren’t a fan of Skodas and that’s fine, I think they are great cars and superior to many car manufacturers. We’ve all got an opinion👍
  11. No. It’s an 11 month old ex main dealer demo, why do I care what it cost brand new? All I know is that I got it for less than RRP.
  12. Literally no idea, and not relevant.
  13. Of course Skodas are mainstream, 99% of cars on the road are mainstream….compared to Rolls Royce etc. My point is that in terms of quality of materials and fit and finish Skodas are definitely better than Peugeots or Fords etc, therefore are more premium. Go sit in a Focus for 10 minutes then get in a Skoda, the materials are definitely superior in a Skoda. My last Skoda was a 2004 Fabia vRS, nearly 20 years later I now own a Kamiq Monte Carlo and the difference in build quality is like night and day, they are far better now. I can’t comment about quality control as my second experience as a Skoda owner has only just started, but I’m sure time will tell.
  14. I’ve noticed that you keep going on about so called “premium cars”. What exactly do you class as a premium car? Bentley? Rolls Royce? Compared to Fords/Peugeot/Vauxhall etc Skodas are premium cars…….so what are you comparing the Kamiq to exactly? If you mean cars like Mercedes/Audi etc then please trust me, they are NOT premium to Skodas, no way. I’ve driven almost every mainstream manufacturer going and without question Skodas are 100% up there and even exceed the quality found in other mainstream cars. So, I can only assume that your “premium car” comments relate to cars that are out of reach for the majority of normal people anyway, so are therefore non comparable.
  15. Every car I’ve ever had since ‘lane assist’ was invented has had this option deactivated. Absolutely crap. Anyone who relies on this technology doesn’t deserve to hold a driving licence. At best it’s bordering pointless, at worst it’s bloody dangerous.
  16. I didn’t think anything could beat my old Fabia vRS (the original and best mk 1), but my Kamiq has. Great cat👍
  17. Screw that, sounds too much like hard work. At best you might save pennies so hardly worth the effort. Just drive and enjoy👍
  18. Yep I agree, the white/black looks stunning. I’ve had my 21 plate Kamiq MC since Friday and I absolutely love it to bits.
  19. Ha, yeah probably came across as gloating but I really wasn’t. How can I gloat when I no longer have it? If I still owned it then yeah, massive gloating rights 😊
  20. I sold my 2004 mk 1 Fabia vRS with 44,000 careful miles about 5-6 years ago. At that mileage the PD engine is barely run in. I know this doesn’t help, just wanted to share.
  21. Thanks for this 👍
  22. Ha!! That’s it. Thanks mate, yeah was wondering how the Skoda world had changed, and this place. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
  23. I used to be known as Carefree, but when I tried signing up again that name was taken. Could it be that my original username is still attached to me? I’m pretty sure I completely deleted my original account🤔. It doesn’t necessarily matter, just wondering.
  24. Thank you mate. I THINK that name rings a bell as I was pretty active on here back in the day for a few years. Looking forward to being back in the Skoda fold. I’m buckling up😊
