  2. A lot of Cadillac (and other GM group vehicles) have an oil-life monitoring system similar to those fitted to VAG cars. But, from memory, I think the max oil change limit is something like 12k. I think the 50K service interval refers to things like sparkplugs, coolant, brake fluid etc. You still need to change the oil & filter at 'normal' intervals. Having said that, a big proportion of American car owners are still stuck in the 1970s, having oil changes every 3000miles/3months. Needless to say, many of the dealers and oil companies don't tell the owners that they can go 9-12k between oil changes 'cause they obviously make more money if they're doing 3 or 4 oil changes a year instead of just 1 :naughty:
  3. What did you actually get charged with: Doing a U-turn or something else, such as 'Driving without due care"?
  4. Does anyone know if it's possible program the Climatronic so that it doesn't automatically turn on the Air-Con if you press the Screen-demist or Re-circ buttons when in ECON mode? Thanks Pud (I've done a search but couldn't find anything. Honest).
  5. The Nismo body kit is currently available as pre-delivery fit option only, if you get it from an official UK dealer. You can, of course, buy them from various websites in the US and Japan and then have them fitted yourself. If it was a white 350Z you saw, it must have been a grey import as white isn't available via any official UK source.
  6. Anyone know how I can get at the ventilation fan in my Octavia? (It's Climatronic version, if it makes any difference) It's started making a clicking/rattling sound that varies with fan speed, so it's almost certainly something stuck in the fan. Thanks Pud
  7. Thanks Denis. I had a look on the Fuchs website but didn't manage to find this.
  8. Does anyone know exactly which existing VW oil specifications the new 504 & 507 specs replace? And, equally importantly, which ones they don't replace? All I have managed to find so far after extensive Googling is: "The new specifications supercede all existing VW long life specifications like VW 503.00, 506.00 and 506.01" So, is it just the Longlife spec oil that these replace? What about the 502.00, 503.01 or 505.00 grades? Cheers Pud
  9. Not according to this lot. 5ive-o Posts #6 & #9 are the relevant ones.

  12. Is the Golf sitting on bricks in a street somewhere? Didn't think new Golfs (Mk5) came with anything smaller than 15" wheels? Otherwise, bargin.
  13. As Dr zoidberg say, the NIP has to be issued so as to arrive with in 14 days of the alleged offence. (They're allowed longer for the NIP to be delivered to the driver if the vehicle is a hire-car or company car etc). They then have up to 6 months, from the date of the alleged offence, to initiate proceedings i.e. issue a summons.
  14. As 225/45 tyres on R17x7 wheels are std on the V6 engined Passats I can't see that it would be a problem as long as the offset is correct.

  17. There are a few companies offering aftermarket HID (xenon) headlight conversions. A quick Google found these two: hidlights H-I-D
  18. I've (only once ) pulled into a filling station with the computer telling me I've got 0 miles left  . Still only managed to get 48 litres in, so I think that when the computer is suggesting you're about to splutter to a halt, you still have the 7 litre reserve available.
  19. Personally, I'd prefer a system where you got pulled-over at the scene (no arguments over who was driving) rather than one where you can carry on driving at your alleged dangerous/excessive speed (possibly) blissfully unaware that you
