  1. MX-5 Owners Club Hope you enjoy it;)
  2. I love the look of the Vrs and red is a great colour. Tom you have a great car there! Great job looks absolutly stunning! My little MX5 has got so many swirl marks on it:(
  3. Welcome m8 I hope you enjoy the car, while I had it loved it as well. Just enjoy it!
  4. Well done m8, are you a member of the Merseyside Group. Paul is an excellent examiner, very patient, understanding and totally puts you at ease. You passed you test so your driving is at a very high standard, well done. I passed mine in 1995, such a long time back now but never regretted it. You should become an Observer, if time allows, keeps your driving at a high level. Any way well done!
  5. Glad it all went ok. Which one did you get in the end? Hope to meet up soon, enjoy the new car!
  6. That would be fun..... Im only an hour away, let me know by PM when, cheers
  7. Im not too far away, maybe a mini meet and you can have a go then. Recently took mine on a track day, drove a mk2 vrs Octivia and that was fun plently of understeer. My mx5 was great not as powerful, but it loved the corners. In fact I went round a bit too quick and spun it several times:eek: At least I know the capabilities now. Such good fun.
  8. Hi 1) the hard top is worth an extra £500 see ebay for the going rate. If it’s a black hard top these sell better as they fit a majority of cars. With all cars this age, mileage is not that important it’s based on condition and service history. The most important bit is that these engines get there oil changed regularly. Oil is for these is not expensive as they take 5/40 semi or fully and this is readily available (£9.00 from costco). Cam-belt is non interference meaning if it breaks it will not slap the pistons. Get a good garage and the servicing costs will only be £100 for a full service (9.00 for a set of plugs etc). Obviously get them hpi, etc and look for panel and paint damage. If the car has been waxed oiled underneath that’s a bonus. I would try for a uk car but that’s my preference. Based on our talk the other night car one looks good. Even though mine is 4 years old and smallish miles I have had no problems at all. Really if you get a good one you will not look back.
  9. ) PittVRS, Mk3 2.0 Sport in 'Midlife Crisis' Red. 2) vRSLen MKII 1.8 in black, like all my other cars 3)Lozgti 1.8 2.5 Titanium.Needed a sportscar to play with and top down action 4) Tonystop 1.8 2.5 maroon. deep red, 18000 miles good fun:)
  10. I take your point to a degree. However some roads are narrow and cars have to park half on/ off to allow access to other vehicles and the emergency services. Unfortunately our road is one of them. Growth of car ownership is to blame as well, most houses have two cars or even three, were 10/15 years ago car ownership was probably only 1.
  11. Apologies if in the wrong board, but Costco offering Three 1 litre of the long life stuff for £21
  12. I hate to say it but my Citroen ZX Vocane in red ( diesel) was so good, the first hot ( well warm in todays world) hatch so sad I got rid. I know it was not the pretiest cars around but it was so comfy. The Fabia Vrs was huge fun and was the longest period of time that I have owned a car. My MX5 is fun and I do like it but I have a feeling that I want a Octavia Vrs a car that I should have got after the Vrs, I better start saving:)
  13. Hi 6 monthy interval is good just make sure they use the correct grade of oil
  14. Hello! Miss the Fabia hugely, if when I had the ST170 I would have bit your hand off. Love the mx5, if when you get one try and get a hard top with it, makes winter motoring more bearable. Mine is a mk2.5 sport with leather with lsd (146bhp). Getting around 31mpg at the moment.
  15. I would recemmond a MX5 but then I have one! No problems, no rattles, just brilliant fun motoring. If the MGtF has had the engine work done ie head gasket etc then it might be worth a look. Open top motoring is huge fun, still miss the Fabia though and that torque. Hope the car is ok? Hope to meet up soon
  16. I would be willing to meet up, non skoda though......
  17. Exactly a MX5 then, not that I am biased of course:)
  18. its not the gearbox mount is it? Known problem with the Vrs, do a search. Thanks Tony
  19. If is it the Tfsi engine these are known to drink oil. Ideally you should check your oil at each petrol fill up. Also ideally the required oil is 5w-30 castrol edge stuff and its not cheap. Thanks Tony
  20. Yep I concur with all the above, Fabia Vrs was a brilliant car had it for nearly 3 1/2 years. Had a focus st170 which did not last too long now with a Mx5- wicked car I have to say build and finish is superb. Do miss the torque of the PD130 engine though, and I still like the Octavia 2 Vrs (petrol) - so you never know.
  21. From an ex Fabia Vrs owner stick around- one if not the friendliest forums around.
  22. There has been no official confirmation on what the new Vrs will be, but to be honest I do think there will be two versions and the consensus is petrol: 1.4 from the Golf (supercharged and turbo) detuned to 140 bhp diesel: 2.0 tdi (140 bhp)
  23. The Fabia and the Focus are two different characters all together to be honest. As I have stated the Fabia feels fast because of the torque curve were as the Focus does feel underpowered but this isn't, its the fact that the power band is very linear and there is no push in the back of the seat. You only realize that you are going fast when you look at the speedo. Yes beyond 5k you are on the cam and the car feels great. I never wanted this thread to be a Focus vrs Fabia, as stated in my original post the Fabia is a great car and for value nothing touched it even now. The focus is an excellent and refined package that suits me down to the ground because of the small mileage that I do I can overlook 30mpg fuel consumption. I suppose if they fitted the 155ps 2.2 litre diesel engine(from the Mondeo ST if it fitted) in the Focus that would be very interesting indeed.
  24. Thanks for all your positive remarks. Still getting used to the car and I will post a full review in the next month or so. Cheers
  25. Thanks Found the Focus forum but not this one, excellent!
