Blame these Guys The bridge hasn't worked since 2019, however due to extra money gained from HS2, the good new is next year hopefully it will be repaired, made structurally sound and then hopefully back working again.

I've been wanting to take a good pic for the last few weeks and going to the same place on the way home from work. Finally on Friday the perfect conditions happened. I meant to stick a camera and tripod in the car in case, but kept forgetting, so pic took with my phone. I thought it turned out quite well. 😎 Image not edited, apart from a slight crop. I can't remember if phone was set to 'sunset mode' or not as took many pics using auto and manual modes. Dec 15 Fri, 4:03 PM GMT Motorola Moto g(8) power ƒ/1.7 1/ 33 sec 4.05mm ISO436

Can't find factory OEM tires?
You could try Longstone tyres which stock new old stock tyres for classic cars. https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk

Porsche V engine porn
This one? https://metro.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/quid-igitur-dubitamus/ I've always wanted to see it, but the two times I've been to Gaydon (Brisky National meets) the car hasn't been there. ☹️ I have always said the best stealth sleeper car would be a Maestro or Montego 6R4 as they are longer and wider than a metro. 😎 The article is slightly wrong, 6R4 means 6 cylinder Rally 4wd as it has a mid engine, not rear.

Porsche V engine porn
I know we are going off topic to Porsches, but they have been building brand new mk1 and mk2 Escorts for several years now. However, they are in development in producing a brand new Metro 6R4 in the next year or so. I think I've read it will will have a Audi derived engine, not a Rover V64V. https://mst-cars.com/6r4

All the 4s I was slightly annoyed when the fuel consumption had dropped a bit. 44.4mpg would have looked better.

Fabia Mk3 2016 Timing Belt
Probably too late now, but you can download a workshop manual from links in this thread. See 'MikeC' and my post at the bottom.

Fabia Mk3 2016 Timing Belt
Strangely this is the opposite of what Ford quoted for some of their engines, When the 1.0 Eco-Boost engines first came out Ford boasted the cambelt was fitted for the life of the vehicle. However they have subsequently had to change to a 10 year or 100k (maybe 140k now) interval due many belt failures. The belt actually runs in oil (known as a wet belt) has been found to disintegrate, contaminating the oil and blocking the pick up pipe/strainer which leads to engine failures. This has lead to the nickname as the eco-boom engine! I am not looking forward to when I need to change the belt in my Fiesta Ecoboost. I have read on Ford Forums quotes of £1400-1800 from Ford dealers and £1000 plus from independents This is due to the very labour intensive job and an extremely tight crankshaft pully bolt. I will probably have it done prematurely at 8 years (2026) instead of waiting for the full 10.

Exhaust help!
I don't know if the OP, knows, but changing the exhaust and air filter on a stock vRS does not make any performance gains at all. They only make the car produce a different (and louder) sound. It may only make a slight difference if once done the car is remapped to optimise the extra air flow and reduced back pressure.

Skoda Fabia Service / Workshop manual
This is a 5 year old thread that 'Steven' has revived. I think the ones in his links you have to pay for. A few years ago someone on another forum posted manuals to my current car, so I searched the site and found them for the Mk3 Fabia. https://cardiagn.com/skoda-fabia-mk3-2015-2019-2020-workshop-manuals-wiring-diagrams/ Originally you could download the pdfs to your computer/device but I don't think you can anymore. A forum member on here has posted a big (400 MB) file to download which I think is the same manual all in one.

Recommend oil grade / service questions
I hope it's not too late now, but this is what we bought for our 2016 1,2 Fabia from Opie Oils. I can't remember the cost as bought last year, along with oils and filters for my Fiesta. The oil is what was recommended on Millers oil website. Paid a little extra for the 'nano-drive' stuff and came in 1l bottles. Wanted a Mahle filter but Opie didn't stock one, so had Bosch instead, (bought Mahle for mine).

Fabia VRS front caliper size?
I bought refurbished callipers from a local Motor Factors, quite cheaply, some had a surcharge so you got money back when you returned the old ones to them. If you are wishing to paint the callipers green, then this is probably the best stuff to buy https://www.paragonpaints.co.uk/Pantone-348C.html The pantone colour is supposed to be the nearest shade to Skoda 'Mint Green'. Being Enamel it can handle heat, they state Temp Resistance: - 170ºC. I bought a tin of it along with primer for rear callipers, painted all 4 at least twice and still had plenty left.

Sometime today I passed 43210 miles on my car, however when I looked it was too late. I noticed this morning I was on 431,something, but didn't do the maths. I will have to try and catch 54,321 miles in a few years time.

Panorama
Thanks. After watching a few YouTube vids, I was recommended 'Hugin'. I downloaded it and use it. You can create a panorama simply with a few clicks or go deeper with their advanced settings. It can create HDR pics too. https://hugin.sourceforge.io Camera's I use. My phone (Moto G8 Power) and a cheap bridge camera, that is probably, 5 or 10 years old.

E10 petrol!! ahhhh
I have just found this chap who normally posts vids of the history of different Motorways, but occasionally posts about other things. He has just posted this vid about the true Ethanol content if E10 fuels. The results are surprising.

Fabia III owners handbook link
This site gives a very good alternative to Haynes Manuals. It has manuals for most cars, even quite modern ones too. In the Skoda section there's one for the Enyaq. It includes the Mk3 and Mk4 Fabia. https://cardiagn.com/skoda/ Mk3 Fabia: https://cardiagn.com/skoda-fabia-mk3-2015-2019-2020-workshop-manuals-wiring-diagrams/ Press the print icon to save to pdf. It looks very similar to the big (400MB) pdf file in the above post, but divided into sections to look/download separately. It includes wiring diagrams and the Owners manual.

Panorama
Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd add to this one. Can anyone recommend (free) software to stich panoramas together? Microsoft ICE was recommended earlier in this thread, but you can't download it anymore. Also any reconditions on how to produce HDR pics from 3 or more pics from Exposure Bracketing in Camera. I don't use any Adobe photo software only GIMP and have recently installed Darktable. P.S. Before anyone says it......... Holy Thread Revival Batman!

New Skoda Fabia - which options?
I'm not sure about the Fabia, but I have a heated windscreen on my Fiesta and I agree, in some light conditions you can visibly see the wires in the screen. Occasionally it's weird when moving your head if you focus on them. However 90% of the time you don't notice it and can drive normally. It quickly demists the screen and melts ice within minutes. The only option which might be overseen/forgotten, which I would consider essential to pick, this would be a spare wheel. Tyre goo and a compressor might be easier to use and possibly safer at side of road/hard shoulder, but it doesn't fix all punctures (large holes, sidewall damage etc) and certainly wheel damage. I'd certainly ask to have one even if buying a used car. We did with our Mk3 Fabia.

How many people do that catch with this?
I had a look at Camskill and if I bought Toyo R888Rs for my car or an ST (on 17s) they would have 5 mm tread brand spanking new! I wonder if Ford would give a warning for low tread? https://www.camskill.co.uk/m117b0s4744p169940/Toyo_Tyres_Trackday_Track_Day_Toyo_Proxes_R888R_-_205_45_R17_88W_XL_(GG-Medium)_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_F_Wet_Grip%3A_E_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_70dB

How many people do that catch with this?
I went to my local Ford dealer last week for an MOT which I can't complain at only £40, however on their inspection sheet they gave me a (not for MOT) an advisory warning or low tread levels on tyres. They were 4.5mm and 4.7mm, ie half warn! I questioned this and they said it was some European guidance, to advise when at 5mm or below. Do other car dealers do the same? I admit my car does have all-season tyres all round (Goodyear & Crossclimates) which I think have 2 types of wear indicators. The standard one (1.6mm) and one at about 4 mm which I understand is minimum for snow performance. They also measured the brake pads incorrectly. On the sheet the front ones were 6mm which I thought was strange as 6 days before I fitted band new ones at 10mm. Is there a minimum pad thickness for an MOT? I guess it would fail if the wear indicators were showing (light or metal pin), but mine doesn't have it (Fabia didn't have one either).

New Petrol and Diesel cars banned from 2040
Something to think about. Wyoming is proposing to phase out (ie ban) the sale of electric cars by 2035. https://wyoleg.gov/Legislation/2023/SJ0004 https://cleantechnica.com/2023/01/17/wyoming-republicans-propose-electric-car-ban/
